As a machine learning intern at Pinterest, you'll work on tackling new challenges in machine learning and artificial intelligence. You'll conduct research that can be applied across Pinterest engineering teams and engage in external collaborations and mentoring, while also performing research in any of the following areas: image recognition, user modeling, recommender systems,search, ads, ranking, natural language processing, neural networks, personalization, graph representation learning, and big data analytics.

Internships are 12 weeks paid, with fixed start dates in May or June to accommodate varying school calendars. Depending on the team, our summer internships will be located either remote or hybrid in San Francisco, Palo Alto, New York or Seattle offices.

What you'll do:
- Lead your own project start to finish to contribute in cutting-edge research in machine learning and artificial intelligence that can be applied to Pinterest problems
- Collect, analyze, and synthesize findings from data and build intelligent data-driven models
- Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code
- Use machine learning, natural language processing, and graph analysis to solve modeling and ranking problems across discovery, ads and search
- Scope and independently solve moderately complex problems
- Demonstrate accountability for the quality and completion of your tasks and projects, collaborating with your team and seeking guidance as needed.
What we're looking for:
- Working towards a PhD in Computer Science, ML, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences or related field
- Proficiency in at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python) or one ML framework (Tensorflow, Pytorch, MLFlow)
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop/Spark) and scalable realtime systems that process stream data
- Experience in research and in solving analytical problems
- Strong communicator and team player with the ability to find solutions for open-ended problems.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Publications in machine learning, AI, data science, data analytics, statistics, or related technical fields
- Interest in research and in applying ML to impactful real-world problems on the Pinterest product

About the Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work closely with the Project Manager and Site Superintendent in overseeing and managing the construction of unique, high-end residential projects from pre-construction through completion. In this role, you will help ensure smooth project operations by overseeing project documentation and information distribution while actively supporting the project team to ensure quality and timely execution from design through closeout.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of and manage the organization and distribution of project documentation, including change orders, RFIs, submittals, and related construction documents
- Assist in developing scopes of work for subcontractors and issue subcontracts
- Manage subcontractor documentation and compliance requirements
- Produce, organize, maintain, and distribute project and photo documentation
- Assist with tracking project costs and supporting the preparation and management of change orders
- Organize the acquisition and management of materials inventory. Assist in ordering materials and equipment. Ensure that orders are placed on time and are delivered to the site according to the project schedule
- Support with developing the project schedule
- Support with preparing financial reports
- Compile and distribute OAC meeting notes, run OAC meetings when needed
- Coordinate and organize the compilation of project closeout manuals, warranties, and lien releases
- Participate in on-site quality control inspections to help prevent mistakes and omissions

Qualifications & Skills
- Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or Architecture, or equivalent industry experience
- 3-4 years of construction or related project engineering roles, preferably in high-end residential construction
- Good understanding of construction processes and materials, with an interest in learning more
- Ability to read and interpret all construction drawings, including shop drawings for cabinets, steel, doors, and windows
- Outstanding organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills with close attention to detail
- Ability to work as an individual contributor and as part of a larger project team
- Flexibility to adjust and realign when project priorities change
- Excellent oral/written communication and analytical skills
- Experience with construction management software.(Autodesk Build, Procore, CoConstruct, etc.)

What we're looking for:
- 2+ years of industry experience applying machine learning methods (e.g., user modeling, personalization, recommender systems, search, ranking, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, and graph representation learning)
- Degree in computer science, machine learning, statistics, or related field
- End-to-end hands-on experience with building data processing pipelines, large scale machine learning systems, and big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop/Spark)
- Practical knowledge of large scale recommender systems, or modern ads ranking, retrieval, targeting, marketplace systems
- Nice to have:
- Publications at top ML conferences
- Expertise in scalable realtime systems that process stream data
- Passion for applied ML and the Pinterest product

We're seeking an Engineering Manager to build and lead the next generation of Pinterest's big data storage platform. You'll grow and guide a team working with cutting-edge open source technologies-especially Apache Iceberg-operating at exabyte scale to power the data that helps Pinners discover and do what they love.
What you'll do:
- Own the technical vision and long-term roadmap of Pinterest's exabyte data lake storage
- Collaborate with stakeholders and partner teams across the organization to architect data lake storage and metadata management technologies to unlock big data and ML/AI innovations
- Drive engagement and collaboration with open source communities, such as Iceberg, Spark, and Flink, to effectively address our scaling challenges
- Act as a stalwart of technical quality and excellence on the team, ensuring the solutions we deliver have a high level of polish and reliability
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of management experience, or 3+ years tech lead experience in a 5+ person team

About the Role
This position is also open in Singapore; Beijing, China; Shanghai, China. We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly execution-focused Safety Policy Operations Manager to join our international Trust and Safety team.
In this role, you will be responsible for risk monitoring, emergency response, and operational optimization across our global content platform, ensuring content safety, user protection, and regulatory compliance worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Monitor platform risks and establish risk early-warning mechanisms to enable timely detection and response to critical incidents.
- Coordinate cross-functional resources to manage risk incidents, including violations, anomalous user behavior, and fraudulent or malicious activities.
- Work closely with moderation teams to ensure effective implementation of risk mitigation strategies and continuously improve operational processes.
- Analyze risk data and operational metrics to identify emerging trends, evaluate mitigation effectiveness, and support ongoing improvements in risk governance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in any field; background in Computer Science, Data Science, Law, or Public Administration is a plus.
- 3+ years of experience in internet risk control, Trust & Safety operations, content moderation, or related operational roles.
- Strong understanding of content safety risks, fraudulent tactics, and common abuse patterns, with hands-on experience handling complex risk scenarios.
- Strong analytical and execution capabilities, with the ability to drive solutions effectively under pressure.
- Fluent in English and comfortable working in cross-cultural, multi-time-zone environments.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Trust & Safety operations, risk control operations, or anti-fraud for content platforms.
- Experience collaborating with policy teams, moderation teams, vendor teams, or international teams.
- Experience participating in risk governance or safety initiatives at large internet companies or content platforms.
- Chinese as a working language.
