POSITION OVERVIEW:


The Safety Manager leads the development and execution of a comprehensive safety, health, and environmental program supporting large-scale greenhouse operations.   • Identify best practices and lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce work process risks, raise safety awareness, and improve safety work practices

  • Perform safety audits and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure safety regulation compliance

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, waste reduction, and cost control
  • Monitoring the workforce and the physical plan floor to assure a safe and clean workplace.
  • Assures that proper materials are staged in place for product or size changeovers to machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Reports with documentation all production recaps, production labor, production quantity and quality check reports to their direct report or as advised.
  • Reports on all issues with production equipment with the maintenance department.
  • Communicate with other Shift Supervisors and Plant Manager.
  • Ensure a clean and safe work area.
  • Complete shift paperwork.
  • Conduct employee performance reviews.
  • Responsible for shift schedule to include workstation assignments, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignment and back-up for absent employees.

Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience in a team lead or supervisory role, preferably in manufacturing or food production
  • Strong knowledge of safety, food safety, and quality standards
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage production schedules and ensure material availability
  • Familiarity with production scheduling and inventory management systems
  • Strong ability to train, coach, and develop employees
