THE OPPORTUNITY
Michelin is recruiting an Mechanical Design Engineer to work on developing the next generation of equipment for tire testing and beyond. You will join a team dedicated to designing & upgrading testing machines to improve the performance of our products.
Your mission will include working with automation and software engineers where you will develop or modify equipment to properly run the test methods. Our team supports tire designers and test method developers. Our goal is to provide accurate data to our business partners so they can make proper decisions during the tire development process.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Invent, develop, industrialize, procure, and/or install machinery, tools, and equipment related to the testing of tires (on vehicles and on machines) and materials for tires.
Modify and improve tire-test and material-test equipment.
Manage projects for the purchase of machines/equipment for the testing departments. Follow Michelin project approach through the project stages including:
- Opportunity Study, Feasibility Study, Risk Analysis, Solution Selection & Development, Installation and Startup, Homologation & Qualification, ROI
Study, select, and purchase equipment and components from outside suppliers which will provide solutions to problems (or desired outcomes) presented by the testing departments.
Collaborate with personnel from various departments including operations, maintenance, test engineers, tire design engineers, purchasing, IT, and management.
Use 3D modeling software (SolidWorks) for developing parts, assemblies, and drawings. Use SolidWorks Simulation tools as required to guarantee integrity of parts and assemblies.
Occasional travel to outside vendors for equipment evaluation/acceptance and to other Michelin sites for equipment startup/installation.
Select and manage contractors and outside vendors performing on-site work.
Analyze data from tire test equipment as required to troubleshoot problems or to improve confidence in test results. Develop an understanding of how tire behavior and measurement can affect the final results. Consider and apply these findings in the development/ procurement/ modification of test equipment.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $75,868 - $150,644. Placement in the range depends on several factors, including experience, skills, education, geography, and budget considerations.

Partner with Outside Developers to drive sales through program compliance at all account sites

Collaborate with Revenue Management Team on specific opportunities to make discretionary pricing decisions based on knowledge of the account and assessment of future spend potential, as well as pass BPIs based on contract language
Exhibit high level of business acumen and sales methodologies to discover incremental opportunities and align with the customers' vision and initiatives (ex: Expertise of customer industry buying process and ability to support product selection and standardization of products assortments.
Engage CSM to manage customer experience and complete customer maintenance requests.
Establishes and maintains business management relationships with the senior executive team members within customer base.
Experience in Education, State & Local Government beneficial but not a requirement
Experience and proven track record of managing programs or business development

The Associate Designer in our Headwear division is responsible for creating innovative, on-trend headwear designs that align with the brand’s aesthetic, seasonal direction, and target market. This role combines creativity, technical expertise, and market awareness to deliver high-quality, functional, and fashionable headwear products.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Concept Development
- Research trends, colors, fabrics, and silhouettes to develop seasonal headwear collections.
- Create mood boards, sketches, CAD drawings, and prototypes that align with brand identity.
- Present design concepts to the creative team and leadership for review and feedback.
Technical & Production Collaboration
- Work closely with product developers and manufacturers to ensure designs are technically feasible and cost-effective.
- Select and source materials, trims, and embellishments appropriate for headwear production.
- Review samples and make necessary adjustments to achieve final approved designs.
Market & Trend Analysis
- Stay informed on competitor products, fashion trends, and consumer preferences.
- Incorporate market feedback and sales data into design improvements.
Brand Alignment & Quality Standards
- Ensure all designs adhere to brand standards, including fit, functionality, and quality.
- Maintain consistency across collections while introducing fresh, innovative ideas.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with merchandising, marketing, and sales teams to support product launches.
- Contribute to line planning and seasonal assortment strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design, Accessories Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2+ years of experience designing headwear, accessories, or apparel (experience in hats, beanies, caps, or technical headgear a plus).
- Strong portfolio showcasing creative, trend-relevant headwear designs.
- Proficient in design software (Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, CLO 3D or similar).
- Knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and production processes specific to headwear.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
