Job Purpose/Summary
- EmPATH will provide non-hospital facility-based services that render short-term treatment to facilitate access to services and stabilization to prevent ED and acute psychiatric hospitalization admissions.
- EmPATH will provide these services to individuals who present to the program or are transferred from area EDs.
- Initial admission will be on a voluntary status to adults (18 years and older) who are presenting with a mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders that are experiencing a behavioral health crisis.
Summary of role of team:
- The EmPATH Peer Support Specialist serves as a clinical member of the multi-disciplinary team, providing education, rehabilitation, and support for individuals.
- The Peer Support Specialist position is intended to provide hope for clients by having a support person who is or has been a primary consumer of mental health or addiction services and is willing to share their experiences and story with mental illness, treatment, and recovery; to be a role model for clients who are currently in crisis.
Typical Working Conditions/ Environment
- Working conditions consist of a 16-lounger bed unit.
- Hours of operation are 24/7.
- The role of the Peer Support Specialist is to ensure coverage is provided 24/7 despite any weather conditions or holidays that arise.

QUALIFICATIONS - EmPATH Peer Recovery Support Specialist
Experience:
- Experience in working with special populations including individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, Co-occurring Disorders, and Dual Diagnosis is preferred.
- Computer experience is helpful.
- Experience working in a crisis setting/Recovery response center is preferred.
- Regular attendance is an essential job function.
- Must be able to tell your story and engage in recovery coaching with individuals as well as assisting clients in developing transition plans.
Education / Knowledge:
- Must have experience as behavioral health services consumer and/or lived recovery experience.
- A bachelor's degree in a health-related field of counseling, psychology, social work, or three years' experience working with individuals with mental illness, special populations with co-occurring and dual diagnoses preferred.
- Must have coursework and/or experience in the areas of cultural diversity, human development, etiology and treatment of mental illness, alcohol and drug abuse, physical and sexual abuse, suicide, and crisis intervention.

Recovery Coach
Recovery Coaches (RCs) are individuals currently in recovery who have lived experience with substance use and/or co-occurring mental health challenges and have been trained to help individuals with a similar experience to gain hope, explore their own recovery pathway, and achieve their life goals.
The RC will be a part of a multidisciplinary team including a recovery support navigator, medical staff, clinicians, and prescribers in the CBHC. Additionally, the RC will potentially need to coordinate with external providers for cohesive care to ensure the persons goals are met. The RC will provide education to persons engaged in services but may also utilize their own recovery experience and knowledge with the entire treatment team.
The RC will also be responsible for:
- Provide care in individual and group formats
- Maintain knowledge base of Medication Assisted Treatments (MATs), recovery pathways, common mental health diagnoses, and self-help supports, such as: AA, NA, SMART Recovery, Refuge Recovery, Moderation Management, and Dual Recovery Anonymous supports
- Educate Persons engaged in services and treatment team about the individual's recovery values and recovery
- Support the person served in creating and enacting their Recovery Wellness Plan.
Schedule: Full Time, 40 hours
- while this role is predominantly in-person, there are opportunities for some hybrid work
- Weekend work is not required, but highly monetarily incentivized
Pay: $22.27/hour

Rushford Center (The Ridge Recovery Center) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse who desires a rewarding career making a difference in the lives of individuals living with substance use disorders.Β The Ridge Recovery Center is a new state-of-the-art substance use disorder treatment facility in Windham, CT.Β The Ridge Recovery Center offers personalized paths to recovery in a serene and tranquil setting.Β The Registered Nurse will work with and assist other professional, clinical, and medical staff in providing day-to-day direct care to individuals with substance use disorders.Β Some of the duties and responsibilities Β for this position include: assessing clientβs conditions, administering medications, managing withdrawal symptoms, providing direct nursing care and education to clients in regard to their health, wellness and recovery.Β Β Our ideal candidate will possess strong therapeutic interpersonal skills to encourage and motivate individuals to work towards their treatment goals.Β
Qualifications
- Valid CT RN license.
- Minimum of Associate's degree in nursing.
- Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
- CPR & AED certified within six months of employment.
- Accredited certification in Addictions Nursing (CARN) or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing (or is actively pursuing credentialing) is preferred.
