Job Summary

Rushford Center (The Ridge Recovery Center) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse who desires a rewarding career making a difference in the lives of individuals living with substance use disorders.Β  The Ridge Recovery Center is a new state-of-the-art substance use disorder treatment facility in Windham, CT.Β  The Ridge Recovery Center offers personalized paths to recovery in a serene and tranquil setting.Β  The Registered Nurse will work with and assist other professional, clinical, and medical staff in providing day-to-day direct care to individuals with substance use disorders.Β  Some of the duties and responsibilities Β for this position include: assessing client’s conditions, administering medications, managing withdrawal symptoms, providing direct nursing care and education to clients in regard to their health, wellness and recovery.Β  Β Our ideal candidate will possess strong therapeutic interpersonal skills to encourage and motivate individuals to work towards their treatment goals.Β 



Qualifications


  • Valid CT RN license.
  • Minimum of Associate's degree in nursing.
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred.
  • CPR & AED certified within six months of employment.
  • Accredited certification in Addictions Nursing (CARN) or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing (or is actively pursuing credentialing) is preferred.
  • Minimum of one years' nursing experience in Psychiatric or Substance Abuse Treatment preferred.
  • Experience as a CNA, Mental Health Worker, or other related field is desirable for newly graduated nurses.

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Practitioners are responsible for providing physical exams, psychiatric evaluations and addiction treatment including: diagnosis;Β prescribing; coordination of care, and patient education. Primary responsibilities will be in the inpatient withdrawal management and residential program, but may include Partial Hospital, Outpatient and community settings as determined by the Medical Director.Β  The practitioners will work closely with the Residential Medical Director, staff psychiatrists, and clinicians in a patient centered multidisciplinary treatment team approach.Β  The practitioner will hold licensure through the State of CT Department of Public Health and be credentialed through the medical staff of Rushford.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1.Β Β Β Evaluate patients through detailed physical exam,Β  a full review of psychosocial comprehensive assessments, and development of a detailed medical history.

2.Β Β Β Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests.Β  Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with primary care physicians and medical specialists.

3.Β Β Β In collaboration with clinical and nursing staff, develops and implements a treatment plan that involves and includes the patient in active participation in treatment. And revises the plan as indicated.

4.Β Β Β Writes orders forΒ  medications, treatments and other matters pertaining to patients care.

5.Β Β Β Writes progress notes on patient’s charts indicating patient status and treatment recommended.

6.Β Β Β Provides education to individuals or groups as appropriate and requested by the Medical Director.

7.Β Β Β Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during examinations and provides emotional support to family members when appropriate.

8.Β Β Β Charts observations, test results and all patient communication in the medical record as directed by Rushford policy and procedure.

9.Β Β Β Ensures accurate maintenance of patient’s medical records and that patient records are treated as confidential information.

10.Β Β Β Β Β Β Advises patients on use of various medication including dosage, side effects and composition.

11.Β Β Β Β Β Β Reviews and interprets results of diagnostic studies and tests, consults with supervisory physician when appropriate, incorporates information into plan of care.

12.Β Β Β Β Β Β Determines and discusses diagnosis with patient, documents information on charts including billing codes.

13.Β Β Β Β Β Β Recommends and develops new services and programs.

14.Β Β Β Β Β Β Participates in peer review, chart reviews, staff education, clinical guidelines development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL REQUIREMENTS, AND DESIRED ATTRIBUTESΒ 

1.Β Β Β Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing/PA-C including anatomy and physiology, psychosocial/family systems, drug and alcohol addiction, diagnostic testing, interpretation of results and clinical decision making.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse is a certified clinical nurse specialist. The PA holds a National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants certificate and PA-C designation. CPR certification required. The job also requires an active CT DEA/CT Controlled Substance license.

Job Summary


Provides inpatient/outpatient and/or community care for clients and families across the continuum of care by assuring access, providing assessments and coordinating clinical summary treatment plan determining level of care.Β  Assumes a caseload and performs behavioral health, substance use services, and/or crisis intervention services independently. Job Responsibilities



  1. Provides direct client care using individual, group, and family therapy specific to each client’s needs as indicated on treatment plan.
  2. Prepares appropriate medical documentation to meet regulatory requirements of licensing and third party agencies as well as internal policies.
  3. Assesses and plans care by evaluating the psychiatric and psychosocial needs of the client; organizes and prioritizes care and treatment and advocates appropriate resources for the client and family.
  4. Provides in home clinical services and/or direct crisis intervention to clients and families in multiple sites in the system and in the community.
  5. Provides continuous education to client and family members and refers them to appropriate levels of care, to support groups and to other available resources in order to maximize care and facilitate recovery or treatment process.
  6. Proficient in working effectively across programs for clients with both mental health and substance use disorders.
  7. Negotiates level of care and length of stay with managed care companies; continually re-evaluates client’s needs and informs the third party payers of ongoing changes in the client’s status.
  8. Works collaboratively with internal and external partners along the continuum of care to provide an integrated delivery of healthcare to all clients and families.
  9. Conducts Emergency Evaluations for clients in the community if required by the program.
  10. Participates and leads administrative activities including, team meetings and staff education as designed by the Program Manager.Β 
  11. Assumes clinical oversight of daily operations in manager’s absence.
  12. Assumes leadership responsibilities and initiatives as directed by Program Manager.Β 


Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related field.
  • Three years' experience providing direct services to psychiatric patients, substance abuse population.
  • Previous experience in assessment, diagnosis, and individual/group therapy and crisis intervention.
  • Valid CT driver's license.
  • Active Connecticut LCSW license.
