As a Senior Outside Plant Construction Technician in Appleton, WI, you will oversee the construction and maintenance of PON/fiber network communications facilities in TDS Telecom serving areas. Training:

As a Senior Outside Plant Construction Technician, you will have the opportunity to obtain a Class A CDL through our in-house training program. You will attend safety training at one of our new facilities where you will also be trained on Pole Climbing and Bucket Trucks. On-the-job training includes exposure to various construction equipment including Directional Drill Rigs, Mini Excavators, Trenchers, and Locators. Fiber optic training includes Fusion Splicing, Fault Detection, and exposure to OTDRs and other advanced testing equipment.

Responsibilities :
  • Receives maps and staking sheets for the full construction project and ensures project is built, with limited guidance from supervisors.
  • Communicates updates to the project team as required.
  • Manages daily and weekly project work based on deadlines, material and equipment availability, weather, and other factors.
  • Coordinates with supervisor to ensure continual supply of work and availability of materials.
  • Drafts and submits redlines upon completion of project.
  • Ensures locates are performed on time and prior to team and equipment arriving at the worksite.

Typical assignments include:Β 

  • Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
  • Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations
  • Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband
  • Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
  • Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.

Qualifications

You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following:Β 

Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; ORΒ 

Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; ORΒ 

Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.Β

  • Additional Details: Looking for and innovative, high-energy Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
    Join a dedicated team in a hybrid Urgent Care and Primary Care role
    This unique opportunity blends the fast-paced environment of urgent care with the continuity and relationship-building of primary care.
    32 hours/week using a three-day work week
    Two 12-hour shifts and one 8-hour shift.
    So in a given pay period, Week 1 would be Monday (8AM to 8PM), Tuesday (8AM to 8PM) and Wednesday (8AM to 4PM or 9AM to 5PM).
    Week 2 would be Wednesday (8AM to 4PM or 9AM to 5PM), Thursday (8AM to 8PM), Friday (8AM to 8PM).
    This allows for a large gap of time off every other week.
    There is also a weekend rotation to cover Sundays (8AM to noon), Rotation is currently every 9th Sunday.
    Weekend hours are paid at time and a half.
