Job Summary

The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for moderate to complex level payroll tax calculations, reporting, balancing and analysis or audit activities to ensure accurate and timely reporting. This role is the technical and functional subject matter expert for their client(s) and continually works with their team to identify opportunities for improvement and implements solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Validate that employee tax setups are accurate and the proper federal, state and local taxes are being deducted and remitted for all employees.
  • Analyze reports from payroll system to ensure tax deposits and filing of federal, state and local tax returns are accurate.
  • Review tax notices from federal, state and local jurisdiction and determine the necessary course of action required.
  • Participate in the annual W2 processing, reconciling and verification process.
  • Assist with responses to inquiries from management, taxing authorities and Accounting regarding tax withholding payments and GL inquiries.
  • Responsible for timely validation of ACH and positive pay banking files.
  • Responsible for entering off-cycles check, issuing voids and other banking functions as required.
  • Maintain professional demeanor at all times while representing the company
  • Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Education & Qualifications

  • Associates' degree in accounting or finance, or minimum 3 years of equivalent experience in payroll banking or tax filing
  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) preferred
  • Solid grasp of payroll principles, wage and hour law, payroll taxes
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local withholding tax computations and deposit/filing requirements
  • PC literate: Windows, Excel, Word, Outlook, and mainframe payroll application experience
  • Must be 18 years in age or older
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check
  • Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required
  • Must be able to able to work under time constraints and ensure deadlines are met
  • Able to read and/or follow written and verbal instructions and implement the same.

Job Details We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations for a growing portfolio of hotel properties.

This role is responsible for accurately processing payroll using Paycom, ensuring compliance with wage and hour laws, and supporting employees and managers with payroll-related questions.

The ideal candidate has hands-on Paycom experience, thrives in a fast-paced, multi-entity environment, and understands the unique payroll complexities of the hospitality industry.

Key Responsibilities Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll for hourly and salaried employees across multiple hotel properties using Paycom Ensure accurate timekeeping, pay rates, tips, overtime, PTO, bonuses, and other earnings Review and audit payroll data for accuracy and resolve discrepancies prior to processing Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, including hospitality-specific regulations Manage payroll-related new hires, terminations, and employee changes in Paycom Respond to employee and manager payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner Coordinate payroll tax filings, garnishments, deductions, and benefits deductions in partnership with HR and Finance Support audits, reporting, and month-end close related to payroll Maintain confidentiality and accuracy of employee payroll records Qualifications 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in hospitality (hotel, restaurant, assisted living) or multi-location environments Experience with processing large payrolls in excess of 600 employees Strong knowledge of payroll processes, wage and hour laws, and overtime rules Experience working with hourly workforces, shift differentials, and variable schedules High attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools Preferred Experience Payroll experience supporting multiple properties or entities Familiarity with tip reporting, service charges, and hospitality labor regulations CPP or FPC certification (a plus, not required) Interested in hearing more? This role plays an integral part in our Finance Department, ensuring that all payroll activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.

This is a permanent, hybrid role that offers the flexibility to work both on-site and remotely.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the payroll process for both hourly and salaried employees, ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations, and providing accurate payroll reporting and audits.

This role requires a deep understanding of the manufacturing industry, with a focus on multistate payroll, payroll taxes, payroll reporting, payroll audits, and more.

Responsibilities Manage the entire payroll process, including the calculation and distribution of wages for both hourly and salaried employees.

Administer bonus payments, payroll garnishments, and other special payroll procedures.

Conduct monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll audits to ensure accuracy and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Prepare and submit accurate payroll reports to management and regulatory agencies.

Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations that may affect the payroll process.

Work closely with the HR department to ensure that all employee data is up-to-date and accurate.

Troubleshoot and resolve payroll-related issues in a timely and professional manner.

Assist in the development and implementation of payroll policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.

Provide training and support to junior staff members and other departments as needed.

Qualifications A minimum of 5 years of experience in a payroll role, preferably within the manufacturing industry.

Expert knowledge of multistate payroll, payroll taxes, payroll reporting, and payroll audits.

Experience with payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.

Proficiency in bonus payments, payroll garnishments, and other special payroll procedures.

Strong understanding of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end payroll processes.

Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create complex formulas and pivot tables.

Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot payroll-related issues.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is preferred.

Certification as a Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.
