Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, the Design Engineer is responsible for the support of new and existing products. This support may include, but is not limited to, product development, prototype generation, laboratory testing and problem solving, from concept to production.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Responsible for understanding the customer’s technical scope of work and delivering designs that meet or exceed expectations.

· Analyzes engineering sketches, specifications, data, drawings and models to determine design factors as well as tolerancing.

· Uses computer aided design tools for two- and three-dimensional magnetic analysis, computation fluid analysis, structural finite element analysis to develop and optimize designs.

· Designs for manufacturability

· Uses lab equipment such as force testers, multimeters, flow meters and environmental chambers to ensure products exceed customer requirements.

· Uses hand tool, soldering tools, and presses to build prototypes and customer evaluations

· Participates and/or leads design reviews and records meeting notes and lessons learned.

· Evaluates and approve design changes, specifications, and drawing releases to ensure compliance with both internal and external specifications and standards.

· Controls drawings, models, and other applicable documents.

· Shall utilize and improve engineering tools with the goal of creating and following consistent processes that ends with a predictable result. Examples of tools include Phase-Gate, FMEA, Control Plans, Engineering Change process, Tolerance Stack-up Calculations, Force Balances, Design for Manufacturing tools, Design Verification Plans, Process Validation, Capability Studies, Measurement System Evaluations, Quality Management and Production Part Approval Processes.

· Support sales staff by providing technical data to present to customers.

· Interface with other departments within and external customers and suppliers.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Leads development and analysis of Imaging Infrared Sensor algorithms for navigation and guidance applications on Weapon systems, including image processing and computer vision for target detection, tracking and discrimination
  • Contributes to a multi-level team as consultant in the test and issue resolution of sensor based algorithms across the portfolio of weapons applications
  • Leads development of trade studies, modeling, simulation and other forms of analysis to predict real-world behavior, impacts on system performance and to optimize the design around complex requirements
  • Leads development and execution of critical tests to validate performance of designs to requirements
  • Contribute to a multi-level team with a deep theoretical and practical foundation for developing cutting-edge models, simulation tools, and algorithm strategies for systems using Infrared, Laser and Radar sensors and provide technical mentorship for early career engineers
  • Collect and review data from hardware-in-the-loop tests and flight test to measure/validate performance against design requirements
  • Evaluate candidate sensor systems to increase weapon or other airborne system capabilities, decrease cost, and ensure compliance to requirements
  • Supports project management by coordinating development of work statement, budget, schedule and other required inputs and conducting appropriate reviews
  • Have opportunities to travel in support of flight test activities and troubleshoot operational and delivered product service anomalies where you will see in-person the awesome capability of our Air Force, Navy, Army and international customers

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

Job Description Summary

At Bel, the vision for the Strategic Insights department (SI) is to become a competitive advantage for the company, ​running a Best-in-class Insights & Foresights factory, powered by big & smart data analytics.

The Director of Business Analytics North America belongs to the global SI team (around 20 people), with a direct reporting line to the Head of Strategic Insights for North America. This hybrid role will be located in Bel’s Chicago or New York City US HQ offices. The Director of Business Analytics, North America, is a strategic leadership position focused on driving data-driven decision-making and business growth across the U.S. and Canada. This role collaborates with various departments, including marketing, innovation, finance, supply chain, and sales—to turn consumer and market insights into actionable strategies. This role brings together consumer understanding, shopper insights, advanced analytics, and market performance data to shape strategy and fuel brand growth. This position also supports global initiatives by sharing North American insights and activating global Strategic Insights tools across the region. The Director of Business Analytics will have a Business Analyst as a direct report.

Main responsibilities include:

Support the Head of Strategic Insights for North America & broader North America Strategic Insights team to lead the relevant learning agenda & roadmap to address local key business priorities.

  • Leverage trends, data, consumer & shopper insights, and other relevant resources, such as macroeconomics, to inform local strategies, accelerate business growth and identify new business opportunities. 
  • Identify learning gaps and turn them into learning roadmap with clear objectives.
  • Manage the Analytics portion of the Strategic Insights budget with agility and a strong ROI mindset
  • Leverage data & analytics agency partnerships to maximize added value.

Drive and expand data & analytics culture and usage (sell out data, consumer data, retailer data)

  • Drive business and brand performance analysis and processes.
  • Develop and manage analytic tools on both ongoing and ad-hoc basis in partnership with Global Business Analytics lead.

  • Strengthen North America’s data-driven culture and insights-led decision making

  • Support Marketing, Sales, Finance and Supply Chain teams in category and retail ad hoc analysis to understand underlying trends and impact to brand/retailer volume performance.
  • Drive media effectiveness and efficiency for all brands. Provide guidance on opportunities to optimize or improve marketing effectiveness and efficiency by leveraging Growth Drivers Models.
  • Recommend appropriate tools to measure marketing campaigns effectiveness and ROI (i.e. marketing mix, etc.) according to level of investment, stakes and Bel Group requirements. Partner with the global business analytics lead on measurement projects pilot and internalization (in-house MMM)
  • Build and lead the North America learning agenda aligned with business priorities.

Lead and coach the NorAm cheese & squeeze business analyst

  • Actively identify strengths and areas of opportunities for the Business Analyst through regular feedback, hands on coaching and stretch assignments that build confidence and leadership capabilities.
  • Build development plans for the team to grow their skillset in alignment with the company needs and vision for the North American Strategic Insights department
  • Create a culture of analytical rigor by setting standards for data quality, validation and insight generation across the team.

Contribute to the Strategic Insights full team life and mission:

PROFILE/SKILLS

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience and expertise as business analyst & consumer insights with a strong focus on business analytics, in FMCG space.
  • Mastery working with data and data providers such as Circana/ Nielsen, Kantar, retailer data and loyalty cards analytic programs
  • Experience working in a multicultural, international environment / company is necessary.

As a Senior Backend Engineer with expertise in Python, you will collaborate with a small team of remote engineers to enhance our flagship customer-facing product. You should possess a deep understanding of fundamental engineering principles and have practical experience in web development, automated testing, version control, continuous deployment, infrastructure management, and agile planning.


This role is ideal for someone who's ready to go beyond shipping features, who acts as a force multiplier for the team by helping to shape architecture, elevate technical quality, and support the Engineering Manager in mentorship and planning. You won't be responsible for direct people management, but you'll be a go-to partner in helping the team grow, unblock, and thrive.



What you'll do:



  • Own and deliver key product features from design through deployment, working closely with design, product, and other stakeholders.
  • Mentor and support engineers, offering guidance and helping to reinforce high engineering standards across the team.
  • Collaborate closely with design, product, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a user-friendly and engaging product for our customers.
