The Department of Integrative Biology (IB) at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of non-tenure track Lecturer positions to teach Integrative Biology courses and General Biology (BIO 1B) courses as need arises. Our department's emphasis is on organismal biology.



Teaching Responsibilities



We are seeking outstanding lecturers who can teach/co-teach small, medium, and large size lecture and/or laboratory courses in the broad subject areas listed below:

* General Biology (BIO 1B)

General Duties



In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, creating and grading quizzes and/or exams, managing and assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using a learning management system (e.g., bCourses at UC Berkeley, Blackboard, Canvas, etc.). For courses with discussion or lab sections, duties may include supervision, training and coordination of Graduate Student Instructors (GSIs).



For General Biology (BIO 1B) Lab Courses: The laboratory class currently covers three major sections: Evolution, Ecology, and Plant Biology/Organismal Diversity. Exercises include investigations into population genetics, phylogenetic relationships, macroevolution, bioindicators, and structure and function of organisms. BIO 1B is a gateway course to the major field of Integrative Biology that consists of three one-hour lectures and one four-hour combined discussion and lab each week. Lecturers will be required to lead one discussion and lab per week, create assignments, grade assignments, attend a Friday instructional meeting, be familiar with lecture, proctor exams, hold office hours and complete other instructional duties as assigned. Senior lecturers mentor new hires and GSIs.

Preferred qualifications

Familiarity with a web-based learning management system (e.g., Canvas) for grading and classroom management is preferred, as well as experience teaching a college-level course in the biological sciences (for example, previously employed as a graduate student instructor, teaching assistant, lecturer, or similar).



For General Biology (BIO 1B): Experience working with computer-based phylogenetic programs and teaching a class similar to UC Berkeley's BIO 1B lab courses is preferred.



A Ph.D., M.D., (or equivalent international degree) in the biological sciences is preferred.

As Senior Vice President of Operations, you will lead and optimize the company’s warehouse and distribution operations, ensuring efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and strategic alignment with business goals. This role oversees all distribution center activities and operational processes that support the company’s supply chain and customer service commitments.

The SVP will play a critical role in the continued evolution of the company’s distribution network by implementing scalable operational processes, leveraging advanced technologies, and driving operational excellence across the organization. Major Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and consistent execution for the ongoing evolution of the company’s multi-site distribution network, ensuring the organization’s infrastructure, processes, and systems support current operations while scaling effectively to enable future growth
  • Develop and execute enterprise distribution strategies that enhance warehouse and distribution center performance, improve service levels, optimize cost structures, and strengthen working capital management
  • Drive operational excellence across the distribution network by implementing performance metrics, KPIs, and continuous improvement methodologies, including Lean principles, to enhance productivity, accountability, and service performance
  • Own the operational P&L for distribution operations, including budgeting, cost management, and financial performance optimization while maintaining best-in-class service and operational standards
  • Build and lead high-performing distribution teams by attracting, developing, and retaining top talent while fostering a culture of accountability, operational discipline, and continuous improvement
  • Leverage advanced technology, data analytics, and distribution systems to improve operational visibility, optimize warehouse performance, and maximize the effectiveness of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), labor management tools, and related technologies
  • Partner with cross-functional leadership—including Sales, Procurement, Customer Service, IT, HR, and Finance—to ensure distribution capabilities support evolving business priorities and customer requirements
  • Champion a strong safety culture across all distribution operations by strengthening safety programs, ensuring compliance, and minimizing workplace incidents
  • Strengthen supply chain resilience by developing risk mitigation strategies, contingency planning frameworks, and effective partnerships with key vendors and operational partners



Ideal Experience


  • The successful candidate will possess proven operational leadership experience within sophisticated manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), retail, or distribution organizations recognized for advanced supply chain and distribution practices.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading large-scale warehouse and distribution operations while driving operational performance and strategic improvements.
  • Proven ability to design and implement operational improvement initiatives that produce measurable financial and operational results.
  • Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in distribution, warehouse, or supply chain leadership roles. Wholesale experience preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in an executive or senior leadership role overseeing complex distribution operations.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), business intelligence tools, ERP systems, and warehouse management systems.

HII is seeking an experienced Welder to join our team supporting the Commander, U.S. Fleet Forces (COMUSFLTFORCOM) Berthing and Messing Program, which operates duty crew berthing barges that provide essential living and working spaces for crews during ship overhaul and repair periods. *This position is contingent up on contract award*
Essential Job Responsibilities
As a Welder, you will perform organizational-level (O Level) maintenance and repairs to maintain and restore metal components aboard berthing barges. Core duties include:
Maintain, repair, fabricate, and replace metal components for barges and installed equipment.
Perform welding tasks on light, heavy gauge, and hardened metals using flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.
Apply welding processes including preheating, brazing, bead welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding, and heat treating.
Provide adequate fire watch and fire extinguishing equipment during welding operations; comply with NAVSEA and OSHA hot work standards.
Inform COR/ACOR prior to any welding, burning, or open flame work and obtain required approvals.
Work to be completed in meets OEM specifications, NAVSEA Standard Items, and safety requirements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Must have High School education, or Trade School or equivalent, and 6+ years of experience in welding and metal fabrication in marine or industrial environments on multiple metal types
  • Must provide own hand tools as designated per trades specialty
  • Must show proficiency in multiple welding positions and processes (SMAW, GMAW, GTAW) and fabrication.
  • Must have the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and OEM specifications.
  • Must have the ability to work in shipyard/barge environments and comply with OSHA, NAVSEA, and program safety requirements.

Physical Requirements

Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Must consistently wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, fall protection) and follow program safety training/briefings. There will be 10 % Periodic travel to Kittery, ME and Groton/New London, CT for site inspections and coordination.
