Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The General Assembler is responsible for assembling sheet metal parts, motors, blowers, and related sub-assemblies. This role installs assemblies into units, places insulation into metal panels, and installs motors and blowers into frames. The General Assembler may be required to perform other reasonable manufacturing duties as assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assemble sheet metal components, mechanical sub-assemblies, motors, and blowers according to work instructions and engineering specifications.

  • Install completed assemblies and sub-assemblies into units, ensuring proper alignment, fit, and function.

  • Insert and secure insulation materials into metal panels following safety and quality standards.

  • Use hand tools, power tools, and production equipment to perform assembly operations accurately and efficiently.

  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, work orders, and production schedules to determine assembly requirements.

  • Perform quality checks to ensure assemblies meet established standards and resolve basic assembly issues as they arise.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area while following all safety policies and procedures.

  • Communicate any material shortages, equipment issues, or process concerns to supervisors promptly.

QUALIFICATIONS

Prioritizes production schedules based on product introduction, equipment efficiency, and materials supply. Plans and administers procedures and budgets. Makes budgetary recommendations and at higher levels, controls capital expenditures and direct/indirect labor. Develops schedules and manpower requirements for assigned areas.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

  • To ensure the health and safety in the workplace and for the protection of our employees’, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. Respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Education:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering


Essential Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-10+ years of Leadership experience in a high speed/high volume manufacturing (leading teams of 1800+)
  • Prior experience as a Plant Manager/Operations Manager for a 24/7 operation in a large organization
  • Previous experience in a high-performance culture working in a team environment with cross-functional groups
  • Lean Six Sigma and/or continuous process improvement experience, experience with the HOSHIN scorecard process an added advantage.
  • Must have a solid track record of Safety improvements through Behavior Based Safety, Hazard identification and Risk Assessments
  • Experience improving operational results
  • SAP
  • Excellent communication (spoken and written) skills, including the ability to explain and present technical information
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving & communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of electrochemistry fundamentals; Experience in materials or process development for lithium-ion batteries strongly preferred
  • Electroplating, Electrowinning or Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
  • Knowledge of industrial battery charging systems an added advantage
  • Resilient, self-motived and able to work well under pressure

About the Role


The Senior Product Development Engineer – Plastics is responsible for leading the design, development, validation, and transfer of plastic injection-molded products into volume manufacturing. This role provides technical leadership across product design, material selection, tooling, mold flow analysis, supplier execution, and manufacturing readiness, ensuring products are manufacturable, cost-effective, and meet quality and performance requirements.


Responsibilities


  • Serve as a core member of the Product Engineering team, providing Design for Manufacturability (DFM) input for plastic injection-molded components.
  • Engineer products from concept through design transfer into volume production.
  • Evaluate and approve plastic part designs, materials, and manufacturing methods.
  • Review and assess tool design, mold performance, and mold flow analysis including fill, warp, pressure, and balance.
  • Act as technical liaison between tooling suppliers, plastic injection molders, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Quality.
  • Lead and support tool and process development, resolving technical issues in real time.
  • Work directly with global tooling suppliers and injection molders to deliver robust production molds at competitive cost.
  • Develop cost models for plastic components, materials, labor, and tooling to ensure product profitability.
  • Support manufacturing by investigating and resolving quality, process, and performance issues.
  • Drive design transfer activities, ensuring tooling, process capability, and documentation are production-ready.
  • Partner with Supply Chain to evaluate supplier capacity, technical capability, and scalability to support growth.

Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in plastic injection-molded product development and design.

Required Skills


  • Strong knowledge of plastic materials, molding processes, and tooling fundamentals.
  • Proven experience working with mold builders, tooling suppliers, material suppliers, and manufacturing partners.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks and Microsoft Office.
