Key Responsibilities

Compensation Strategy & Program Design

• Design, implement, and manage base and variable compensation programs, including merit increases, bonus plans, and incentive programs.
• Lead job evaluation, market pricing, and the development and ongoing maintenance of salary structures.
• Conduct compensation benchmarking and market analyses to ensure pay practices remain competitive and aligned with market trends.

Advisory & Partnership

• Partner closely with HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition to ensure compensation offers are equitable, competitive, and aligned with internal structures.

Compliance & Governance

• Ensure compliance with all applicable compensation‑related laws and regulations, including FLSA, pay transparency requirements, and EEO guidelines.
• Support or lead pay equity analyses and other compliance‑driven compensation initiatives.
• Participate in or lead compensation‑related projects, including system implementations, audits, and merger or acquisition activities.

Analytics, Systems & Vendors

• Manage relationships with external compensation survey vendors and consultants.
• Utilize HRIS systems and advanced Excel analysis to support compensation modeling, reporting, and decision‑making.
• Develop and deliver compensation‑related training and communications for HR partners and leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field required; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive compensation or total rewards experience, including experience leading or supervising teams.
• Strong knowledge of compensation principles, job architecture, pay structures, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with global compensation practices and job architecture frameworks is a plus.
• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) strongly preferred.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related technical degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.
• 20-25 years of relevant experience, with progressive responsibility and technical knowledge both scope and value of project.
• Technical knowledge and experience of relevant construction methods and systems including:
• Utility relocates and slope stability works.
• Full understanding of multiple mission critical platforms.
• Full understanding and working knowledge of high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage systems. General understanding of BMS and EPMS Systems.
• Full understanding and coordination of Utility relocations, underground medium voltage systems, and BIM modeling coordination of ALL utilities both above and below ground.

The Role:

The Controller will serve as a key finance partner supporting portfolio performance, capital oversight, and ownership reporting across a national portfolio.

This is not a traditional property accounting role. Instead, this position bridges property-level financial review with investment-level analysis, debt oversight, and portfolio reporting. As a dedicated Property Adjuster Specialist, you will work within established guidelines and framework to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims presented by or against our members. Property Adjuster Specialist focus on using technology and desk adjusting for a virtual first approach to inspections and claims handling. USAA also provides a company vehicle to physically inspect losses within your locally assigned territory. The Opportunity

As a dedicated Property Adjuster Specialist , you will work within established guidelines and framework to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex property insurance claims presented by or against our members. You will confirm and analyzes coverage, recognize liability exposure and negotiate equitable settlements in compliance with all state regulatory requirements.

Property Adjuster Specialist focus on using technology and desk adjusting for a virtual first approach to inspections and claims handling. USAA also provides a company vehicle to physically inspect losses within your locally assigned territory. Field Adjusters may travel outside of their local territory to respond to claims in other regions when needed. This is an hourly, non-exempt position with paid overtime available.

This is a field-based role for the area of Durham, NC. Candidates currently living in this location or willing to self-relocate are encouraged to apply.

• Proactively manages assigned claims caseload comprised of complex damages that require commensurate knowledge and understanding of claims coverage including potential legal liability.

• Partners with vendors and internal business partners to facilitate complex claims resolution. May also involve external regulatory coordination to ensure appropriate documentation and compliance.

• Investigates claim damages by conducting research from various sources, including the insured, third parties, and external resources. May identify and resolve potential discrepancies and identifies subrogation potential resulting from unusual characteristics.

• Identifies coverage concerns, reviews prior loss history, determines and creates Special Investigation Unit (SIU) referrals, when appropriate. Determines coverage through analyzing information involving complex policy terms and contingencies.

• Determines and negotiates complex claims settlement within authority limits. Develops recommendations and collaborates with management for determining settlement amounts outside of authority limits and accurately manages claims outcomes.

• Maintains accurate, thorough, and current claim file documentation throughout the claims process.

• Advance knowledge of estimating technology platforms and virtual inspection tools. Utilizes platforms and tools to prepare claims estimates to manage complex property insurance claims.

• Supports workload surges and catastrophe (CAT) response operations as needed, including mandatory on-call dates and potential evening, weekend, and/or holiday work outside normal work hours.

• May be assigned CAT deployment travel with minimal notice during designated CATs.

• Works various types of claims, including ones of higher complexity, and may be assigned additional work outside normal duties as needed.

• Works independently solving complex problems with minimal guidance; acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.

• Adjusts complex claims with attorney involvement.

• Recognizes and addresses jurisdictional challenges such as applicable legislation and construction considerations.

• May require travel to resolve claims, attend training, and conduct in-person inspections.

• 2 years of relevant property claims adjusting experience of moderate complexity losses that includes writing estimates, involving dwelling and structural damages.

• Advanced knowledge of estimating losses using Xactimate or similar tools and platforms.

• Proficient knowledge of residential construction.

• Proficient knowledge of property claims contracts and interpretation of case law and state laws and regulations.

• Ability to travel 50-75% of the year (local & non-local) and/or work catastrophe duty when needed.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Life Actuary to join the Life Company’s Asset Liability Management Team.  This role coordinates, prepares, and performs actuarial analyses required to develop new products, project future results, reprice existing products, and/or determine financial strength.

This role is remote eligible in the continental U.S. with occasional business travel. However, individuals residing within a 60-mile radius of a USAA office will be expected to work on-site four days per week.  Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
