Purpose
The IT Database Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting relational database platforms in both traditional data centers and Azure cloud environments. The role covers installation, configuration, performance tuning, high availability, backup and recovery, monitoring, and incident response for Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, with participation in an on-call rotation to support mission-critical workloads.

The Assistant Superintendent helps lead all on-site construction activity from site mobilization through owner turnover. SKILLS
This job requires journeyman level knowledge and skills for installing and maintaining compressors, fans, bearings, belts, dampers, motors, starters, controls, 208, 200, and 460 service, 24 volt-DC service, coils and piping. Position requires the ability to read prints, drawings, and schematics via paper copies and computerized software systems. In addition, the job requires ability to operate machine tools, motor vehicles (may include forklift), hand/power tools, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment. The position requires the ability to troubleshoot and to sequence tasks for specific assignments.

Job Summary
Within the department of Tech Dining, the Sous Chef oversees daily food operations within an identified dining venue(s). Responsibilities include ensuring quality food production and presentation to meet the standards established by the Director of Culinary Services, supervising a team of lead cooks and kitchen supervisors and assisting with the oversight of additional shift workers to provide the best Tech Dining experience possible.
This position will interact on a regular basis with culinary employees within Tech Dining.
This position will primarily advise and counsel other culinary employees.
This position will supervise: Hourly staff
Responsibilities
Quality/Standards - 30
Estimates food consumption, selects, and develops recipes, standardizes production recipes to ensure consistent quality, establishes presentation technique and quality standards, plan, and price menus.
Training/Supervision - 20
Trains and manages kitchen personnel within a specific dining concept and supervises/coordinates all related culinary activities.
Production - 15
Prepares daily production list and verifies that culinary staff follow all recipes and portion control.
Compliance - 15
Ensures compliance with sanitation and safety requirements that ensures a safe and sanitary work environment.
Menu Planning - 10
Responsible for component menu planning, costing, and brand management.
Management - 10
Assists in supervision of food service workers with oversight for hiring, performance management, annual reviews, and initiating employee status changes.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
High School Diploma/GED or Vocational School Diploma.
Required Experience
Working experience includes three years in culinary, two years as a manager-preferably in higher education, with direct reports, and two years with a menu management system (i.e., a system that contributes to food ordering, inventory management, and food cost evaluation).

Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree, or two years college course work in the Culinary Arts or related programs.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
KNOWLEDGE
Must be proficient with computer applications and programs (i.e. Microsoft Office suite) and knowledge of all Microsoft Platforms.
SKILLS
Must have a valid Driver's License, and current ServSafe Certification, or other Georgia approved food safety certification.
Must have a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Knowledge of sanitation regulations and food handling procedures. Strong attention to detail and strong organizational and follow up skills. The ability to provide culinary training and insight for special dietary requirements.

About the Writing and Communication Program at the Georgia Institute of Technology
A unit of the Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts (IAC), WCP teaches over 6,000 students a year in first-year composition, business/technical communication, research writing, and learning support. Committed to excellent teaching and faculty professional development, WCP is the winner of the 2021 Regents Teaching Excellence Award and the 2021-22 CCCC Writing Program Certificate of Excellence.
Current Brittain Fellows have recently received their Ph.D.s from more than 25 universities. Their degrees represent diverse disciplines: literature, writing studies, technical and business communication, creative writing, film studies, performance studies, cultural studies, and related fields. Brittain Fellow alumni hold academic and professional positions in universities and industries around the world. In 2024-25,17 Brittain Fellows found full-time jobs in tenure-track, continuing non-tenure-track, and business positions.
Job Summary
The Writing and Communication Program (WCP) at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, Georgia invites applications for the Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellowship, starting August 1, 2026. This three-year fellowship includes service, research, and a 3/3 teaching assignment in first-year composition or business/technical communication.
In addition to full benefits, including health insurance, retirement, and research support, Brittain Fellows receive preparation in and support for further development of their writing and multimodal pedagogy via postdoctoral seminars. Brittain Fellows also benefit from other support activities and services, including the postdoctoral seminar in technical communication and job market support for both academic and nonacademic positions.

teach three courses of first-year composition or business/technical communication per semester
pursue scholarly research and/or creative work
serve on Writing and Communication Program committees
attend new Brittain Fellow orientation and required postdoctoral seminars
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in rhetoric, composition, business/technical communication, literature, film, visual rhetoric/design, or other humanities fields must be conferred by August 1, 2026. Candidates are responsible for providing an official transcript, indicating PhD degree conferral, no later than June 1, 2026 in order to be onboarded to begin employment on August 1, 2026. Ph.D. must have been conferred within the last five years. Candidates should have university-level experience teaching writing and communication courses (e.g., first-year composition, business or technical communication, writing-intensive courses).
Preferred Qualifications
We are particularly interested in qualified applicants with research or teaching expertise related to any of the following areas:
Global Englishes or English Language Learning
Writing center studies expertise/tutoring experience
Technical communication, business communication, and communication in STEM disciplines/professions
Proposed Salary
First-year Brittain Fellow base salary is $60,980, with the salary increasing for the second and third years of the fellowship.
