The Northrop Grumman Classified Solutions team is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Administrator to join its dynamic team of technical professionals. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Classified Solutions support team and can support the organization in Redondo Beach, CA.

Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Maintain smooth operation of classified networks - LAN/WAN environments.

  • Plan, design, configure, and install network hardware in support of customer requirements.

  • Maintain technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware / software interconnection, as well as interfaces, including routers, multiplexers, firewalls, switches, gateways, etc.

  • Propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements are based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.

  • Create and ensure that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

  • Install, configure and Cisco routers, switches, and Palo Alto firewalls.

  • Install, configure and maintain Cisco Call Manager voip systems.

  • Provide regular monitoring, and network analysis, regarding short and long-range planning for [in-house] systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.

  • Design networks, or portions of networks, including the selection of hardware and software packages.

  • Provide incident and service request support in accordance with enterprise SLAs.

  • May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.

  • Represent the organization in providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects.

  • The successful applicant will demonstrate the ability to work in a team environment with engineering users, other network administrators, systems administrators, and computer/facility organizations.

  • The ability to multi-task and good communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.


Additional duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Plan, manage and implement complex network designs in support of customer requirements.

  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.

  • Support network teams in project designs to clarify project requirements, provide design solutions, in accordance with standards.

  • Perform troubleshooting analysis of network infrastructure and associated systems.

  • Document network hardware and software technology components.

  • Install and configure routers, switches and firewalls. (Cisco/Palo Alto)

  • Implement and troubleshoot LAN technologies such as VLANs, trunking (port tagging), spanning-tree and protocols.

  • Provide third-level support and troubleshooting of network problems.

  • On occasion may provide after-hours and weekend support.

  • Work is performed without appreciable direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Completed work is reviewed from a relatively long- term perspective, for desired results.

  • Implement and troubleshoot WAN technologies such as EIGRP, BGP, OSPF, and telco circuits (T1, T3, OC3)

  • Interface regularly with customers and manage customer installation timelines and deliverables to help facilitate successful deployments.

  • Manage timely resolution of all critical and/or complex problems meeting SLA requirements

  • Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures.

  • Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.)

  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, PowerPoint and Excel is required

  • Lift equipment weighing up to 40 pounds as needed

  • Ability to work after hours, and weekends as needed

 Basic Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree with 6 years of experience; OR a Bachelor's Degree with 8 years of experience; OR an Associate's Degree with 10 years of experience; OR a High School Diploma (or equivalent) with 12 years of IT experience is required

  • Must have a DOD 8570 IAT level 2 baseline certification (example: Security+ CE)

  • Candidates must have a currentand fully adjudicated DOD Top Secret level security clearance (at a minimum) in order to be considered

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, a Top Secret/SCI level security clearance as a condition of employment

  • Candidates must have the ability to obtain, and maintain, access to Special Programs as a condition of employment

  • Experience designing and maintaining LAN & WAN based networks, managing routing protocols on large LAN environments, and experience with Cisco hardware (routers, switches, and firewalls)

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Network Engineering

  • Active Top Secret/SCI, Polygraph, or SAP/SAR access would be nice to have

  • Network+ certification and/or either a CCNP or a CCIE certification

  • Network design, analysis, and administration of routers, switches, hubs, and firewalls

  • Experience in the use of network analysis tools (i.e. WireShark, SolarWinds, Opnet, etc.) would be nice to have

  • Experience with configuring TACLANES would be ideal

  • Previous experience troubleshooting network procedures and best practices; experience with network challenges associated with systems integration, including COTS integration, capacity analysis and system architecture design

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems sector (NGDS) is looking for you to join our Advanced Weapons Business Unit as a Sr. Staff Chief Engineer of the Stand-in Attack Weapon (SiAW) program. This position will report to the Advanced Weapons Business Unit Director of Engineering.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Northridge, CA.

This role will serve as the definitive technical authority for all aspects of engineering on all program elements (systems engineering/software/support/test) and lead a multi-disciplined team managing the technical performance of the program meeting cost and schedule requirements including subcontracted elements.

Typical Responsibilities Include:

  • Ownership of the technical baseline and oversees technical activities across multiple contracts within the SiAW Program

  • Maintain cognizance over technical activities within and across contracts for requirements development, hardware/software design, integration, and verification/validation activities.

  • Solve technical problems and provides solutions that are technically sound and programmatically executable.

  • Provides technical leadership, direction and mentoring to other technical employees in the application of systems engineering principles, tools, and techniques to achieve practical end results.

  • Chair technical meetings such as requirements reviews, design reviews, and readiness reviews.​

  • Facilitate technical support, review, and approval of engineering documents and drawings.

  • Support program reviews as an engineering review authority, and assist in resolution of program engineering challenges (technical, financial, and staffing)

The Effectors Center in the SE&TC Directorate is seeking a Hardware Lead focused on design, physical assembly, lab integration, platform integration, and/or flight test. In this role you will be hands- on, supporting the design, assembly, integration, and completion of the unit under test for successful execution of test events.

What You Will Do

  • The core of what you will do is drive the physical assembly and test of the unit under test. You will direct the activities of junior engineers and provide technical leadership in the lab and in the field.
  • Expectations of the role: ability to effectively communicate and confidently present to program leadership (internal & USG), attention to detail, ability to be organized and prioritize efforts and a strong work ethic. Ability to mentor and guide a team of junior engineers. Technical know-how to conduct missile level integration and test.
  • Travel Requirements – up to 10% of the time. Some testing events may require weeks of travel.
  • Physical Requirements – This position requires the ability to physically inspect missiles, support the test set up of missiles, help maneuver missile during packing/unpacking and potentially support multiple long days of testing in a row in austere conditions.

The Effector Digital Products (EDP) department designs digital electronic circuit cards and electronic units which are supported from proposal through transition to production. Our systems are subject to environments ranging from the frigid, sub-zero vacuum of space to the blistering heat of the desert floor, to the high pressures of the ocean depths.

The Digital, RF and Power Team is seeking a Principal Digital Design Engineer with digital electronics design and analysis skills to join our team. 

This position is 100% ONSITE in Tucson, Arizona.

What You Will Do

We are looking for candidates willing to collaborate, innovate, and team with our engineers to generate and utilize today’s cutting-edge technology to design digital electronics circuits that implement missile guidance, video and digital signal processing. Our technology base includes high-speed digital electronics, configurable logic, and homogeneous / heterogeneous multiprocessor designs.

The Principal Digital Design Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, simulation, test, and integration of digital electronic modules and/or CCAs for Missile applications. The candidate should be experienced in all aspects of circuit card design including:

  • hardware designs with processors

  • FPGAs

  • memory

  • industry interfaces, such as PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, SPI, and UART

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering digital circuit design experience to include at least 2 of the following:

    • Development and design of electronic circuit designs, multi-assembly system/unit design

    • Ability to take a design concept from the block diagram or requirements level to development of a complete hardware design, and verification via test and integration

    • Experience with PCB design process and expertise in tools used to design (schematic capture), analyze and simulate designs prior to hardware execution.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizen are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience with embedded test techniques, design for test, design margin analysis and design for production for complex circuit card assemblies between 16 and 32 layers

  • Experience using Mentor Graphics Design Creation (Siemens EDA) tools: DxDesigner, xDX Designer VX, and Xilinx (Zynq Ultrascale, Vivado, Atrix)

  • Experience using PCB electronic circuit design software: HyperLynx signal integrity, power integrity, and analog simulation, Xpedition Enterprise (xPCB)

  • Constraint Editor System (CES)

  • Experience with FPGA code development or software

  • Experience leading a program transition from development to production

  • Experience managing technical/schedule risks to identify cost reduction opportunities to meet assigned deadlines

  • Experience with intellectual property generation (patents & publications)

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
