Title: Staff Engineer, MEMS Process Development
Department: R&D, MedTech & Specialty Audio

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Knowles seeks a motivated and creative individual to work in a fast-paced, market-oriented R&D team environment, developing MEMS technology for microphones and related mobile platform applications. A strong preference will be given to individuals with experience in MEMS process integration/process transfer and characterization of MEMS devices. Individuals will also be expected to have expertise in the knowledge of the foundry integration process, the basic of MEMS technology, data mining, statistical analysis, troubleshooting, failure prediction, DOE setup. Candidate will be expected to offer creative insights and solutions for R&D and production problems, to characterize and design MEMS process windows, to help execute and analyze statistical designed experiments and to carry out written and oral reporting.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Interface with MEMS wafer foundry partners to execute on new product introductions (NPI) work.
- The basic concepts of the semiconductor foundry processes are a must requirement.
- Fast-reacted and responsible for any new issues and work closely with foundry suppliers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team to understand issues and drive the root cause for each issue to achieve a stable high volume mass production products.
- Create and analyze statistically designed experiments to effectively evaluate process corners to identify major risks and ensure margin for high volume applications.
- Develop and implement techniques for gathering and analyzing large data sets to identify currently unknown relationships between in-line metrics and final device performance.
- Candidate with Failure analysis skills (SEM, FIB, TEM, SIMS, FTIR, Raman, etc.) is plus.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Master Degree or above in Engineering field (e.g. Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Physics).
- Candidate with Master degree must have 7 years’ process experience in MEMS or semiconductor industrial field. Candidate with PhD degree must have minimum 3 years’ process experience in MEMS or semiconductor industrial field
- Candidate with MEMS/semiconductor/display process integration and process transfer expertise is plus.
- Statistical analysis software experience such as JMP, SAS, Minitab is preferred.
- A strong background in communication, negotiation, DOE setup, data analysis and reporting skills.
- Characterization/failure analysis experience in SEM, FIB, surface science analysis, interferometry, electrical testing, etc. is plus.
- Knowledgeable with scripting languages; including python and JMP JSL is plus.
- Ability to travel overseas occasionally and participate in evening calls with Asia

Job Description Responsibilities: Perform preventive maintenance and routine inspections on assigned conveyors, automation, robotics and ancillary equipment as needed.
Perform routine troubleshooting of assigned out of service equipment and correct issues, act as an escalation point for lower level technicians, and escalate to leadership and/or more senior technicians as needed.
Record all maintenance issues in maintenance log for each line.
Document all work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) and ticketing systems as appropriate and maintain accurate records of all operating logs for fire pumps, generators, HVAC equipment, and other facility systems that are tested on a routine basis.
Perform root cause analysis of major downtime events.
Assist maintenance mechanics in work that requires two people or when operational needs demand.
Perform facility/building project work as assigned.
Tasks include, but are not limited to, light bulb/ballast replacement, door repairs, furniture installation, ceiling tile replacement, carpentry duties, plumbing repairs and maintaining operation logs.
Assemble and test equipment to verify correct operation and production.
Analyze and record cause of production delays on daily production reports and initiate procedures to solve equipment malfunctions.
Examine defects and analyze spoilage causes and, where possible, take corrective action and verify the corrective action has eliminated the problems.
Required Experience: Education High school diploma or equivalent Work Experience 3 year of experience with conveyor, automation, or robotics equipment repair and maintenance Fundamental understanding of machinery/equipment Basic skill level in multiple computer software packages including Microsoft Excel Experience working with inputs, outputs, and PLC logic systems and ability to troubleshoot these systems

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS Education Typically, Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related field.
Work Experience 6+ years of experience with multiple IT solution development disciplines, including technical or infrastructure architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or cloud development.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Deep understanding of Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, Power Pages, Dataverse).
Strong grasp of low-code/no-code platforms and their role in enterprise digital transformation.
Knowledge of integration patterns (APIs, connectors, middleware, event-driven architecture, RPA).
Awareness of application lifecycle management (ALM), DevOps for low-code, CI/CD pipelines, and environment strategies.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure preferred), data governance, and security frameworks.
Knowledge of governance and compliance in low-code development (data residency, licensing, security).
Proven ability to apply the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF) to architect, govern, and scale Microsoft Power Platform and Azure solutions, including environment strategy, security, governance, and operational readiness.
Strong working knowledge of TOGAF for defining domain architecture standards, managing architectural repositories and decisions, and ensuring alignment with enterprise and portfolio architecture.
Ability to design scalable low-code solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
Strong solution architecture skills (data modeling, workflow design, integration with legacy and modern systems).
Hands-on experience in building Power Apps, automation flows, and data pipelines.
Proficiency in designing governance models for citizen development and IT-managed low-code development.
Problem-solving and analytical thinking to balance speed vs.
enterprise-grade design.
Ability to translate business needs into low-code architectural patterns and reusable components.
Ability to guide and mentor development teams (both citizen developers and professional developers).
Ability to define standards, reference architectures, and reusable templates for Power Platform.
