Immediate Job Openings – Baer Engineering & Environmental Consulting, Inc. has immediate openings in Austin for highly-motivated Professional Geologist with excellent project organization, writing, and communication skills. Applicants must possess degrees in a Geology, Earth Science, or related field.
Pay is 70-90k dependent on experience and qualifications. Initial benefits package includes paid dental, vision, health, and life insurance. This position is a hybrid position. Applicants must be able to be at jobsites and/or offices in the Austin and San Antonio area for fieldwork, meetings, training, and other duties. This job requires fieldwork 1-5 days a week. We pay all costs for necessary training and licensing.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Conducting Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments.

Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact and trusted advisor for hardware engineers and PCB designers, providing expert guidance on workflow and tool-related challenges.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional design teams to understand requirements, identify gaps, and translate needs into actionable technical solutions.
- Champion and standardize ECAD best practices, including schematic capture, PCB layout, DFM, data management, and design collaboration processes.
- Partner with IT teams and tool developers to define, design, and implement next-generation ECAD workflows and tooling solutions.
- Drive automation, optimization, and efficiency improvements throughout the entire ECAD design lifecycle.
- Lead the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies into ECAD processes, including design rule checking, component selection, layout optimization, predictive modeling, and data analysis.
- Contribute to the strategic roadmap for ECAD tools and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with current operational needs and future innovation goals.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across hardware development programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science.
- Minimum of 3+ years of hands-on experience in ECAD design, PCB layout, DFM, or related hardware engineering fields.
- Strong expertise with industry-standard ECAD tools such as Cadence Allegro/OrCAD, Mentor Graphics Xpedition, or Altium Designer.
- Solid understanding of PCB fabrication processes, design constraints, and manufacturability considerations.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose complex technical issues and provide structured solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.

What You’ll Do
- Monitor & Inspect: Oversee the installation of low-to-medium voltage electrical systems (up to 35kV), including switchgear, transformers, motor control centers, and backup power systems to ensure 100% compliance with NEC and project specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous field inspections and witness Acceptance Testing (NETA) to verify the integrity of cable pulls, terminations, and grounding systems.
- Safety Oversight: Enforce strict adherence to NFPA 70E standards and airport-specific safety protocols, ensuring all work is performed in a manner that protects the traveling public and airport operations.
- Documentation: Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFI responses. Maintain detailed daily logs and "as-built" records to track progress and identify potential deviations before they become costly delays.
- Collaborate: Serve as the technical bridge between the General Contractor, Engineering teams, and Airport Operations to ensure seamless integration of new electrical assets.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: 10+ years of experience in electrical inspection or master-level electrical work, specifically on large-scale airport projects (Aviation experience is required).
- Technical Knowledge: Deep expertise in NFPA 70 (NEC) and NFPA 70E standards. Experience with medium voltage distribution and SCADA systems is highly preferred.
- Certifications: Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license, or ICC/IAEI Electrical Inspector certification. OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification is required.
