Position description
The College of Computing, Data Science, and Society at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary lecturers to teach CDSS courses should an opening arise. Screening of applicants is ongoing and will continue as needed. The number of positions varies from semester to semester (fall, spring and summer sessions), depending on the needs of the unit.
About CDSS:
Established July 1, 2023, the College of Computing, Data Science, and Society (CDSS) is the first new college at Berkeley in over 50 years. The College was created to meet the demands and opportunities at a time when data touches nearly every aspect of our lives. Innovations in computing and statistics are converging to create unprecedented opportunities to use data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence to tackle pressing societal challenges from human health to climate change.
CDSS offers outstanding undergraduate major programs in Computer Science, Data Science, and Statistics. Over 1,500 students graduated with a degree in these majors in Spring 2024, and one in four held a second major in another discipline. CDSS undergraduates study with faculty from a wide range of fields, where they gain the knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to succeed in today's datafied world, interact with data ethically, and masterfully engage as informed leaders.
CDSS seeks candidates who can support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy.
Responsibilities:
CDSS is seeking outstanding instructors to be appointed in the non-Senate Lecturer title series who can teach small and large courses. We are particularly interested in instructors who can teach courses that satisfy the Human and Social Dynamics of Data and Technology requirement for the college. This requirement is designed for the purpose of developing an understanding of how technology and data interact with human and societal contexts, including ethical considerations and applications such as education, health, law, natural resources, and public policy. Examples include: Anthropology of Science, Data, and Technology; Artificial Humanities: AI, Language, and Fiction; and Data and Justice.
Teaching a CDSS course may include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g.,slides, syllabus, homework assignments), providing clear and prompt feedback on student work, and maintaining the course website.

Berkeley Summer Sessions & Study Abroad is a vibrant and dynamic organization that collaborates across faculty, academic units, international partners and campus service providers to enable more than 15,000 current and prospective Berkeley students, visiting students, and high school students to participate in more than 600 summer courses, study abroad experiences, global internships, and other learning opportunities. Berkeley Summer Sessions & Study Abroad is a part of the division under the leadership of the Dean of Extended Education that also includes University Extension and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.
Summer Sessions, in partnership with UC Berkeley's Electrical Engineering and Computer Science department (EECS), invites applications for a pool of qualified, dynamic instructors with a commitment to Pre-College education in Computer Science, Programming, and Data Science to teach high school students (grades 10-12) in our Berkeley Summer Computer Science Academy. This intensive, non-credit program is offered in-person over 2 weeks during weekdays (June 22, 2026 - July 3, 2026) on the UC Berkeley campus with some online instructional components, such as an Instructor Orientation and a student pre-arrival Welcome Webinar.

General Duties

The Pantas and Ting Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach experiential-based courses in SCET, housed within the College of Engineering, should an opening arise. The number of positions varies from semester to semester (Spring, Summer and Fall) depending on the needs of the department.
UC Berkeley's SCET is the premier institution for the study and practice of entrepreneurship and technology innovation. SCET's mission is to empower innovators to positively change the world and believe mindsets and behaviors matter, diversity adds value, and innovators should be responsible for what they create. Since 2005, SCET has created the foundation of Berkeley's entrepreneurship ecosystem and is known for developing the Berkeley Method, an internationally recognized approach to teaching technology entrepreneurship to undergraduate students, innovation to graduate students, and technology firm leadership to executives and professionals. SCET is where aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators take a deep dive into the world of entrepreneurship and technology innovation. SCET courses offer students the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields, as well as their classmates, and address real-world problems through hands-on group projects. Students have the chance to build networks, learn how to start and grow their own start up, and strengthen transferrable skills in areas such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. The mindsets and skills introduced in SCET classes prepare students to become innovative leaders in their industry, jobs or ventures regardless of the field.
SCET hires a number of qualified professionals and academics to hold temporary lecturer appointments to lend variety and subject matter expertise to our core topics. The topics in our Fall, Spring and Summer curriculum may include but are not limited to: Technology Entrepreneurship, the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Product Management, and other advanced topics and challenge labs in entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology including, but not limited to environmental sustainability, plant based foods, smart cities, future of work, health technology, sports technology, and other emerging technologies and industries.
SCET hires for both lecturer and Teacher Special Program (TSP) positions. TSPs teach short courses on one or more of the topic areas listed. Most TSP courses are taught in a 'bootcamp' format in August and January. Lecturers and TSPs are responsible for the course syllabus, curriculum development and delivery, holding office hours, student assessment through relevant projects, presentations, problem sets, exams, and/or class attendance and participation, and assigning grades.

We are looking for a Staff Product Designer to lead Closeup, one of Pinterest's highest leverage consumer surfaces. It is the moment where inspiration turns into action. This role gives you direct ownership over a core, high-traffic experience used by millions of Pinners, where great design can meaningfully shift both user value and business outcomes. The work is inherently crossorg and highly visible. Closeup sits at the intersection of the Pinterest home feed, search, shopping, visual search, and more. What You'll Do
- Own end to end Closeup design: Lead design for key Closeup experiences across iOS, Android, and web, from early exploration through launch and iteration
- Drive product outcomes through design: Partner with cross functional leads to define goals, metrics, and experiment plans, and ship improvements that increase user value and measurable impact

Key Responsibilities
● Deal Sourcing & Underwriting – Build a statewide first then nationwide broker network, identify sites, and produce institutional-grade pro formas and feasibility models.
