Position Overview: The Design Quality Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and compliance of Paragonix's medical device products throughout the design and development lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance, to drive excellence in design control processes.
Primary responsibilities/authority will include:
- Design Control Compliance: Implement and maintain design control processes in accordance with applicable regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485, ISO 14971, FDA QSR, MDR) to ensure the development of safe and effective medical devices.
- Risk Management: Lead and contribute to risk management activities throughout the design process, including the identification, assessment, and mitigation of potential risks. Work closely with the R&D team to integrate risk management into the design process.
- Failure Analysis: Assist in Post-Market Surveillance (PMS) initiatives, including failure investigation, record review, and data trending.
- Quality Planning: Develop and execute quality plans for new product development projects, outlining quality objectives, deliverables, and verification/validation activities.
- Design Input and Output:
- Review and approve design inputs to ensure they are clear, complete, and aligned with user needs and regulatory requirements.
- Validate that design outputs meet the specified design input requirements.
- Change Control: Manage design changes by assessing their impact on product quality, ensuring proper documentation, and obtaining necessary approvals.
- Verification and Validation:
- Develop and execute protocols for design verification and validation strategies and acceptance criteria.
- Collaborate with testing teams to ensure thorough testing of product designs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, regulatory affairs, and quality assurance, to facilitate effective communication and collaboration throughout the product development process.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of relevant regulations and standards and ensure that product designs comply with applicable requirements. Support regulatory submissions as needed.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements within the design control system and contribute to the development and implementation of best practices.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a quality engineering role in the medical device industry.
- In-depth knowledge of design control processes, risk management, and quality management systems (ISO 13485, ISO 14971, FDA QSR).
- Strong technical skills related to product quality including VOE translation to Design Specs, Human Factors, CTQ Cascades, Design Characterization, Verification / Validation, Test Method Validation, Process Validation, Inspection Techniques and Statistics.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements for medical devices (FDA, EU MDR, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions.
- DFSS or DMAIC Black Belt Certified, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) certification is a plus.
Other Requirements:
- Electrical and mechanical background strongly preferred.
- Experience creating and analyzing charts in Minitab, JMP, or equivalent software a plus.
- Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, SPC, ASQ and/or ISO process controls a plus.
- Computer proficiency in MS office (specifically Excel).
- Effective verbal and excellent technical writing skills.

Job Summary:
The 2nd Shift Production Supervisor leads a multi-department team of CNC Operators and Set-Up Operators, in a high mix / low volume aerospace component manufacturing environment. This role is expected to balance expertise in set-up and operation of CNC machining for precision tolerance components, along with strong interpersonal skills to motivate the team to work toward common goals and objectives. Key responsibilities include managing the day-to-day priorities for multiple departments, cross-training staff on best practices to meet set-up and production run-times, optimizing processes through the elimination of waste, and leading lean continuous improvement initiatives. As a working supervisor, this role is expected to run production jobs and provide the necessary supervisory management to a small 2nd shift team.

Essential Job Duties:
- Conduct security, quality and EH&S audits to ensure the safety of employees on the second shift, and compliance with company and customer policies.
- Coordinate time-off requests, with attention to skills matrix, to ensure adequate staffing level across all disciplines of machine centers to meet production needs.

- Set-up and operate CNC machines according to operation sheet instructions. Provide technical support for team.
- Maintain ERP data integrity ensuring job punches match traveler package. Report any discrepancies that could impact job quantity or delivery.
- Develop and author standard work for the operation of production equipment. Coach and train teammates in best practices, enforcing safety, departmental and QMS polices, with the goal of process improvement, reduction in set up time, faster productivity rates, and improved quality.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years progressive career in the manufacturing of precision machined components in a regulated industry such as aerospace or medical. Previous experience in a high mix, low volume shop with an emphasis on lean manufacturing preferred.
- Working knowledge of ISO/AS quality standards, basic OSHA/EHS safety regulations, and a commitment to adherence of company policies.
- Advanced or expert machining skills in 1 or more disciplines. Swiss lathe, multi-axis turning, turning, milling, or grinding. Must be able to independently set-up and operate CNC equipment and provide the necessary training to others on shift.
- Experience leading and managing a small team toward common goals. An effective communicator that can build rapport with a diverse team. Previous team lead experience preferred.
- A willingness to take accountability for self and team, driving and inheriting the collective results of a department or team.
- High degree of urgency to drive operations at full speed. Keen sense of attention to detail to understand how to work with pace, not haste, avoiding careless mistakes.

A Day in the Life of the Boat Mechanic
In this role, you’ll serve as a lead mechanic and technical expert responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining marine engines while supporting the day-to-day operations of a busy marine service department. You’ll work on a large fleet of boats, collaborate with specialized technicians, and help mentor junior mechanics. Your expertise will play a key role in maintaining service quality and supporting the continued growth of the department.
Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and repair Yamaha and/or Mercury marine engines
- Perform advanced mechanical repairs and complex diagnostics beyond routine maintenance
- Utilize manufacturer diagnostic tools and software to troubleshoot engine issues
- Perform engine diagnostics, manifold repairs, rigging, installation, seasonal service, and winterization
