Essential Job Responsibilities

Training and Education

  • Assist with EHS training programs for all employees at the site, including but not limited to emergency response, hazardous material handling, and equipment safety.
  • Ensure employees arriving at the site have the required industry specific training, i.e. OSHA or MSHA training.
  • Assist in performing new hire orientations, hazard awareness training, and other training as required.
  • Assist in coordinating and participate in and/or conduct daily safety meetings, provide educational materials, and assist with drills to enhance employee awareness of EHS procedures and regulations on job sites and office facilities.
  • Apply leadership skills in an engaging fashion to continually develop and improve every team member’s hazard recognition skill and hazard mitigation protocols and knowledge base.
  • Document and store all training and education materials onsite and within KPA.

Enforcing EHS Policies and Procedures

  • Applies all policies in a consistent fashion to facilitate a safety culture whereby hazard recognition and hazard elimination/mitigation is always the first task in every activity.
  • Implement and enforce EHS protocols, including company policies, the Site Safety Plan (SSP), client guidelines, and relevant federal regulations (OSHA, MSHA).
  • Regulatory Compliance – Perform continual monitoring of job site and work habits to ensure compliance with company and regulatory health and safety regulations. Inspections consist of, but are not limited to: Lockout-Tagout, Required Permits and other job forms, Work Habits, Facility Inspections, and Construction Site Inspections.

Incident Investigations/Record Keeping and Reporting

  • Lead and/or participate in the investigation of incidents at the site, ensuring thorough documentation, identification of root causes.
  • Ensure injured employees are provided appropriate care in a timely manner including but not limited to utilization of CORE Occupational Medicine.
  • Ensure adequate and proper documentation and implementation of corrective actions is obtained and loaded into KPA.
  • Utilize KPA reporting including but not limited to Safety Alerts, Incident Investigation reports, Root Cause Analysis, etc.
  • Work with operations and EHS management team to determine actionable items related to incidents and enforce completion.

Coordination with Operations

  • Communication – Establish a firm communication system between site operations and H&S by being available and responsive to requests from field employees and managers.
  • Works closely with the site operations team to facilitate and maintain a culture where safety “is who we are”. Enable and facilitate a setting where the entire organization is engaged to achieve behavior based safe work excellence.
  • Acts to ensure safety team is a constructive partner with the operations team and is a resource to operations.
  • Interfaces with customer’s safety team on a frequent basis. Closely align company systems with customer requirements.

Performing Site Inspections, Audits, and Monitoring

  • Conduct and document daily inspections and audits to identify EHS violations, potential hazards, or non-compliance with EHS regulations.
  • Promptly address issues, provide solutions, and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Perform daily safety reports to provide important day to day data to site EHS and project management.

Maintaining EHS Records and Documentation

  • Meticulously keep accurate and ensure timely input of records into appropriate locations such as KPA.
  • Assist EHS Management (Area, Regional, Corporate, etc.) with data gathering, analytics, and creation of daily, weekly, monthly safety meeting topics and documentation.

Liaising with Regulatory Agencies

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, participate in inspections, and facilitate audits to uphold EHS standards.
  • Ensure proper documentation and notification of all citations and assist in implementation of corrective actions and preventative measures.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Construction Site Safety Technician (CSST) or equivalent and OSHA 30 required.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, standards, and other applicable codes/regulations.

Responsible and accountable for delivery and implementation of the Cushman & Wakefield (CW) US Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Strategy for the Americas. Under the stewardship of the Head of EHS Americas the role will deliver measurable improvements in health, safety and environmental performance and engagement across the C&W organization, in support of business objectives. The role will specifically support Americas corporate offices, brokerage and Project & Development Service (PDS) lines across the Americas. The role will also support on Security and Quality matters in support of the wider global EHS Team. This is a senior corporate role which will directly report to the Head of EHS Americas and indirectly report to business unit heads within the relevant jurisdictions and service lines. The role will require an experienced professional who has held a similar role in a related industry and who is comfortable and confident in working and presenting at a senior level. The individual will be commercially aware and fully accountable for delivering the Americas EHS Strategy as this relates to applicable countries and service lines while reporting successes to their stakeholder groups across the region.

This senior EHS management role will be responsible for identifying areas of potential organizational risk and developing robust EHS mitigation controls, policies, procedures, and guidance in accordance with the C&W Americas EHS strategy and local legislation. The role will be responsible for coordinating both internal and external resources across the region in order to manage legal compliance and enhance organizational safety culture. In doing so the role will work closely with the global specialist resources within the wider EHS Team.

The role will work across all departments and therefore senior stakeholder engagement will be critical to the candidate's success and the candidate must have demonstrable experience in developing successful senior stakeholder relationships and influencing change and process / culture improvement. The candidate must be a self-starter and able to demonstrate the delivery of organizational change through both face to face engagement and the use of remote working tools e.g. Microsoft Teams.

  • Heads of higher risk service lines such as PDS within the relevant jurisdictions

Educated to degree level in Occupational Health and Safety or an equivalent discipline, the successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of developing, implementing, and refining models of health, safety, and environmental management in accordance with the requirements of international standards. Senior membership of recognized EHS trade associations / bodies. Experience of working in a multi-site environment in the facilities, retail, property or service delivery sector preferable. The successful candidate will likely currently report to senior stakeholders and will have a proven track record of working independently to influence senior stakeholders. JOB OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Sr. Manager, EHS, the EHS Associate position supports all areas of Environment, Health, and Safety with a focus on waste management, emergency response programs, and regulatory compliance.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate environmental, health, and safety (EHS) expertise while fostering a culture of safety excellence and proactive commitment to workplace well-being.
  • Drives conformance to the site’s EHS management system
  • Establish effective programs, communications, and procedures that meet regulatory requirements and align with Piramal EHS Guidelines.
  • Manage waste and recycling programs in accordance with DEP, DOT, RCRA, and EPA requirements through internal procedures, training, and coordination of vendors.
  • Provide support for sitewide EHS leading and lagging indicator programs, with a drive to CAPA completion and achievement of EHS sitewide and corporate goals.
  • Identify and assess workplace hazards, implementing necessary measures to minimize risks.
  • Sustain Occupational Health programs both in-house and contracted.
  • Perform periodic workplace inspections, audits and hazard assessments.
  • Keep site emergency response procedures up to date, conduct training and drills.
  • Participate and foster growth in Site Safety Committee.
  • Support ESG and sustainability goals.
  • Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) hazard assessment program and inventories.
  • Demonstrate financial stewardship.


QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Associated Degree, Bachelor’s preferred, in a scientific discipline, Health and Safety or Environmental Science preferred, with 3-5 years experience in the EHS field.
  • Experience in hazardous and non-hazardous waste management.
  • Solid understanding of OSHA regulations with training development and delivery competency.
  • Working knowledge of spill response and management techniques.
  • Must possess problem solving, logic, and critical thinking skills and the ability to make sound, risk-based decisions.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment with effective project planning/management, organization, and execution skills.
  • Must have proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively managing multiple projects independently with cross-functional departments and manage priorities to meet timelines.
  • Must be innovative, proactive, resourceful and committed to continuous improvement.


WORK ENVIRONMENT

The position requires the ability to work in office and manufacturing settings with time spent performing “on the floor” activities in laboratory and manufacturing areas, as well as outdoor activities such as water sampling and roof inspections. Generally a day shift position, but may require very occasional overtime, evening, or weekend work with an ability to be reached after hours in case of emergency.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift up to 40 lbs.
  • Able to work safely with heavy equipment.
  • Regularly stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, feel objects, tools, controls, reach with hand and arms, talk, hear, and good vision.
