Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform all functions related to tool fabrication, rework, and repair as required.

  • Obtain work orders from the team leader or supervisor, determining assignments based on schedule dates and tool availability.

  • Read work orders and blueprints to identify required tasks, tools, and equipment.

  • Develop plans for the fabrication, maintenance, and repair of tools.

  • Initiate and coordinate engineering change requests with internal support groups when necessary.

  • Determine the sequence of tool fabrication work, troubleshoot issues, and develop solutions to production challenges.

  • Access and utilize appropriate tool drawings, models, and specifications using available computing systems.

  • Select and verify necessary equipment from the shop storage area, ensuring current tool certification.

  • Perform repairs or replacements on tools as per Standing Tool Order (STO) Production Requests, and request rework orders if necessary.

  • Layout holes, lines, and other tool features, and install or modify hydraulic, pneumatic, and vacuum tubes as required.

  • Operate various machinery, including power saws, drill presses, and CNC machines, to shape materials and prepare details.

  • Move materials and equipment using Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT) and overhead cranes as needed.

  • Maintain accurate records of orders and coordinate tooling information with other shifts and departments.

  • Handle hazardous materials in compliance with Boeing procedures, using appropriate personal protective equipment.

  • Engage in continuous improvement practices to enhance quality, safety, and efficiency in tool and die work.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as micrometers and gauges, to ensure accuracy in fabrication and repairs.

  • Interface with customers and suppliers to incorporate changes or resolve functional and installation issues.

  • Submit completed jobs to Quality Assurance and assist inspectors in performing necessary checks or measurements.

  • Utilize mathematics, including algebra and trigonometry, to calculate dimensions and analyze Model Based Definition (MBD) for fabrication details.

  • Conduct tool tryouts and make necessary adjustments to ensure production meets quality requirements and specifications.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in repairing, maintaining, construction, and/or the inspection of tools, dies, jigs, powerfeed, etc.

  • 5+ years of experience in machine shop processes, geometric dimensioning & tolerances, and machining capabilities of different types of materials.

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION:

Responsible for assisting with the production process in the machining department. Inventory and stocking of the tool crib. Breaking down and setting up tooling for the machining centers. Moves carts and dollies with items on them. Assists in cleanup.

SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE


We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Manufacturing Engineer & Tool Room Supervisor to lead key manufacturing engineering initiatives while overseeing the daily operations of the Tool Room. This dual-role position is critical in driving process improvements, supporting new product introductions, and ensuring the timely delivery of precision tooling, gages and fixtures to support production. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise, hands-on leadership, and a strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement. This individual will play a pivotal role in optimizing manufacturing processes, supervising toolmakers and technicians, and ensuring seamless collaboration across engineering, maintenance, and production teams.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Define the process operations, and correct sequencing of these operations, to support the manufacture of quality mechanical components and assemblies.
  • Design and develop fixtures, tooling, and gages using Solidworks as the primary CAD system, using best practices including DFM, DFA, DTC and stack analysis.  May include the design and development of engineering and production test fixtures.   A portion of this effort will require a working knowledge of AutoCad.
  • Define the product configuration and part geometry in fully dimensioned 2-D drawings directly linked to 3-D files for each manufacturing operation.  A solid understanding of GD&T is a must.
  • Manage Bill of Materials, including a full definition of material selection and raw material configuration.  
  • Ensure proper documentation of design revisions for the full Technical Data Package including CAD, BOM, engineering masters, routings, etc.
  • Initiate and participate in cross-functional design reviews to ensure new designs are optimized for manufacturability.  Support the development and execution of project timelines.
  • Provide technical input to Applications Engineering in support of process improvements to streamline the process from Design to finish product. 
  • Provide manufacturing floor support processing issues and promote continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Work within a team that specifies, evaluates, justifies, and implements capital equipment projects throughout the plants and to continuously strive to evaluate technology as to its application at providing the most efficient process.
  • Create Purchase Requisitions for fixture components, materials, special tools and materials requested by Tool Room personnel.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Under limited supervision, designs, fabricates, repairs, and improves tools, jigs, fixtures, simple molds, gauges and dies to the tolerances required for the intended manufacturing processes.
  • Must be able to work from engineering drawings, sketches, or other written or oral instructions as well as tool design drawings.
  • Maintain, Tooling, Fixturing, Materials, CNC programs in a systematic way to ensure proper execution of processes.
  • Participate with planning and purchasing departments to determine internal & external workload capacity.
  • Ensure machining tasks are executed in the most effective manner (manual vs. CNC) regarding time, cost, and function.
  • Ensure internal quality checks are conducted prior to shipment.
  • Assures work areas are organized, clean and hazard free; champions 5S practices.
  • Follow up with internal customers regarding toolroom services.
  • Responsible for managing the time and attendance system: audits timecards daily, manage PTO for toolroom employees and addresses violations in a timely manner to assure efficient and productive operations.

CNC Tool Maker – 3rd Shift Shift: Sunday – Thursday | 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM Overtime: Occasional overtime may be required Position Overview We are seeking an experienced CNC Tool Maker to join our team.

This position is responsible for manufacturing precision tooling, dies, fixtures, and custom components while maintaining extremely tight tolerances.

The ideal candidate will have strong machining skills, CAM programming experience, and the ability to interpret complex engineering drawings.

Qualifications Minimum 5 years of CNC machining/toolmaking experience Journeyman certification required Experience with Mastercam and/or GibbsCAM Background in the metal stamping industry preferred Knowledge of progressive stamping tooling, gauges, and fixtures Understanding of heat-treating processes Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and GD&T Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the shift Technical Skills Proficiency with the following equipment and tools: Precision Measurement Equipment Gauges Indicators Micrometers Trimos height gauges Machining Equipment CNC and manual mills Manual lathes EDM (Wire and Sinker) Surface grinders Drill presses Saws and basic hand tools Responsibilities Set up and operate manual and CNC mills or lathes Program parts using Mastercam or GibbsCAM Interpret complex blueprints and GD&T requirements Manufacture precision tooling, dies, fixtures, and custom components Perform and document first-piece and in-process inspections Maintain tight tolerances (± .0005 or as required) Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment Communicate effectively and work both independently and as part of a team
