Overview:

We are a 13-bed unit with 4 overflow antepartum rooms, 2 OR suites and a new 4 bed OB-ED. We have 24/7 coverage by a Hospitalist, along with a great group of physicians. Any laboring mom or preterm mom greater than 20 weeks may be seen on this unit; along with postpartum moms needing to be readmitted. Our goal is to adhere to the AWHONN standards. We closely monitor staffing to patient census which means-1:2 laboring patients, 1:1 active labor or C-section, 1:3 antepartum patients and 1:4 triage/OB-ED. We provide patient centered care as the entire health care team work together to care for mother and baby.

Responsibilities: Coordinates the delivery of quality nursing care for patients from birth through the lifecycle, as well as operational issues during his/her shift. Provides clinical care as needed when census demands. Communicates patient care, departmental issues, and staff concerns to the appropriate leader(s). The Physical Therapist (PT) provides high-quality, patient-centered care by managing the complete process of therapeutic care of an assigned group of patients in coordination with the physician and the patient care team. The Physical Therapist completes patient assessments and participates in developing and implementing individualized care plans focusing on goal achievement, patient engagement, and positive patient experience. The Physical Therapist provides or directs a majority of the patient’s physical therapy to support patients throughout the continuum of care.

What you will do in this role:

• You will provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.
• You will assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status and participate in the development of the total plan of care.
• You will provide purposeful and skilled therapeutic care using procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.

On our Vascular Surgery Units you will be caring for patients with multiple co-morbidities requiring knowledge of all body systems. Many of these patients are fresh amputations, vascular wounds, extensive vascular surgery to restore blood flow, etc. Required education that will be provided include, but not limited to: BLS, ACLS, Telemetry, wound care, Wound-Vacs and central lines.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

• Implements physician orders, administers medications, starts IVs, performs treatments, procedures and special tests, and document treatment as required by company policy and local/state/federal rules and regulations. 
• Orders, interprets, and evaluates diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions.

• Previous experience as a PCA or other nursing assistance preferred.
