Our nurses enjoy autonomy in their naturally fast paced roles, and work closely with a collaborative and interactive emergency physician group, as well as trauma, ortho, and neurosurgeons, among other specialties. Teamwork is at the core of how we function. As a nurse in our ED, you will care for emergency patients, as well as run trauma cases that pass through our doors.  We offer advanced treatment protocols, and in addition to being a Level II Trauma Center, are designated as a Level I STEMI Center and a Level I Stroke Center.

Our ideal candidates will have prior experience working in a fast-paced emergency department. In addition, they will have some experience taking care of critical patients and will be able to utilize critical thinking and assessment skills to prioritize patient needs. They will have a desire to take care of all types of patients and will want to be part of a team.

Our Boise Emergency Department has 34 beds to serve patients of all ages. As the most advanced trauma center in the region, we represent a continuum of care that incorporates the rapid, critical care response of Life Flight, the Emergency Department; comprehensive, multi-specialty surgical expertise including neuroscience, trauma, orthopedics, critical care units, rehabilitation, as well as the state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment technologies. Our Eagle Emergency Department is a 14 bed free-standing center that serves our patients 24/7, typically offering a much shorter wait time than experienced at larger facilities. Staffed by board-certified emergency doctors and specially trained staff, we provide a highly collaborative environment that continually seeks innovative ideas to better serve our patients.

Idaho's capital city (and third largest city in the Pacific Northwest!) is located in the high desert of southwestern Idaho, right on the Boise River. Offering a stellar quality life, Boise also features a vibrant and urban downtown, cultural and culinary experiences, and a wealth of entertainment options. • A current Idaho RN license is required.
• Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire.

Job Summary

Reports to and is under direct supervision of Case Management Department. Provides ongoing support and expertise through comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation and overall evaluation of individual patient needs. Promotes continuity of care and cost effectiveness through the integrating and functions of case management.

• Coordinates discharge planning to assure that the patient progresses through the continuum of care and is discharged to the least restrictive environment.
• Coordinate the hospital activities concerned with case management and discharge planning.
• Ensure compliance with quality patient care and regulatory compliance.

Required: 

• Minimum of two (2) years utilization review/case management experience or social work experience.

Preferred: 

• Associate degree in healthcare related filed.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.
• Licensed professional nurse may be considered.
• Bachelors or Masters Degree in related healthcare field (such as respiratory therapy or social work) may be considered.

Required: 

• Maintain current professional licensure in nursing or professional filed of certification.

Preferred: 

• Appropriate certification in the case management preferred (e.g. Commission for Case Management Certification (CCMC) or Association of Rehabilitation Nurses).

Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager or designee, will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. He or she may advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. 

• Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, reviews orders and prescriptions for appropriateness and patient safety
• Ensures that medication profiles are accurate and up to date
• Checks for drug interactions, incompatibilities and optimum drug therapy
• Participates in narcotic and controlled drug distribution programs as required
• Audits medication records and makes necessary corrections 
• Explains proper use of all prescriptions for outpatients.
• Accountable for investigational drug study integrity
• Ensures that non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous medications are prepared in accordance with USP 795, 797, and 800 regulation
• Supplies drug information to physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team
• Participates in the department's in-service education program.
• Performs monthly nursing unit inspections as assigned  
• Perform other duties as required.
