Our Oncology Group is seeking a Medical Director to lead its growing team of medical oncologists/hematologists and advanced practice providers. This Oncology Group is a member of the largest healthcare provider in East Tennessee. The Cancer network is based out of Metro Knoxville and is the largest provider of cancer care in our region with nine cancer centers covering 26 counties, including the region's only Proton Therapy Center. Our program is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a passionate, dynamic physician leader to help drive and direct our program?s continued growth towards being a national model of excellence in cancer care in the community setting. This position is a critical and high visibility member of the cancer program leadership team and will be expected to directly contribute to strategic direction of the cancer program.

About this Opportunity

The Medical Director will be responsible for providing clinical oversight of the group and medical oncology program. In collaboration with the cancer program senior leadership team, the Medical Director will lead efforts to increase integration and alignment of medical oncology services across all the group Health facilities. More specific responsibilities include:

  • Lead recruitment, retention, mentorship, quality, and growth management for TOG physicians and APP
  • Represent medical oncology services across the system, both inpatient and outpatient, to other physician groups and to executive leadership of facilities and service lines
  • Be a major contributor to strategic initiatives for medical oncology, TOG, and the full Health cancer program, on a 4-year expansion plan with other visionary leadership.
  • Act as the public face for The Oncology Group for general marketing, public events, and physician-group relations
  • Head efforts to integrate, align, and standardize operations
  • Lead quality and safety program for medical oncology
  • Ensure physician presence in all medical oncology leadership meetings, clinical decision making
  • Participate in the development of policies, procedures, continuing education programs, and training of providers and staff
  • Participate in budget planning and prioritization

The Medical Director will be employed and enjoy security with a not-for-profit health system. This Oncology Group serves as the medical oncology group for the Cancer Center medical oncology program. The group currently is made up of 35 Providers covering eight locations with over 50,000 patient visits annually. Job Details Responsibilities Lead month-end close and prepare consolidated financial statements across multiple legal entities Oversee revenue recognition under ASC 606, including subscription, license, unit-based, and services revenue Prepare and review journal entries (accruals, amortization, depreciation, reallocations, deferred items) Manage AR aging, reserves, and coordination with customer-facing teams Oversee domestic and international cash management, including bank reconciliations and payment approvals Monitor lender covenants and prepare required lender reporting Coordinate annual audits across multiple jurisdictions (U.S.

and international) Partner with external tax and audit advisors Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly investor reporting packages Partner closely with FP&A on budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis Support strategic initiatives including M&A diligence, international expansion, and system implementations Establish and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and accounting procedures Own and optimize the accounting technology stack (ERP, billing, AP automation) Lead automation and process improvement initiatives to support scale Qualifications: Active CPA license Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (MBA or advanced degree preferred) 10+ years of progressive accounting experience 3+ years in a senior accounting leadership role (Controller / Assistant Controller) Strong SaaS accounting experience, including ASC 606 and deferred revenue Experience in private equity–backed or highly leveraged environments Proven experience with lender reporting and covenant compliance Deep knowledge of U.S.

GAAP, internal controls, and audit readiness Advanced Excel skills and experience with modern ERPs (NetSuite, Sage Intacct, or similar) Ability to work hybrid in Atlanta (3 days onsite) Preferred Qualifications: Global or multi-entity accounting experience Experience supporting M&A or exit readiness Background in high-growth or scaling technology companies Interested in hearing more?
