The Sonographer performs sonography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail and performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity to apply prescribed sonography for diagnosis.  The Sonographer assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures and may have individual responsibility for specified sonography procedures and/or may be assigned as an instructor.

• Verifies physician’s orders in patient’s chart, prescription and on schedule
• Explains the test to the patient.  Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
• Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of test
• Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results
• Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed
• Schedules patients to provide orderly flow of procedures through department
• Perform other duties as required.
   

REQUIRED:

• High School degree

PREFERRED:

• 2-3 years relevant job experience in a Healthcare setting under a Board Certified Radiologist

REQUIRED:

• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification
• BCLS certification

Imaging Platform & Business Requirements

• Lead business and functional requirements gathering for radiology and digital pathology image viewing and annotation platforms used in Pharma R&D.
• Engage with R&D scientists, clinical operations, imaging SMEs, and CROs to understand workflows for image ingestion, review, labeling, and annotation.
• Define end‐to‐end requirements for image ingestion, data quality checks, metadata harmonization, viewing, annotation, and downstream analytics.
• Document as‐is / to‐be workflows, use cases, functional specifications, and non‐functional requirements (performance, usability, scalability, compliance).
• Work with Data Scientists and ML Validation Specialists to document business and clinical requirements for ML algorithms applied to imaging data with intended use of ML models in radiology and digital pathology workflows
• Ensure ML requirements align with GCP, FDA, and internal quality standards, without directly performing algorithm testing.
• Manage requirement changes and ensure traceability throughout the delivery and validation lifecycle.

The technologist will demonstrate flexibility by working other shifts and/or at other campuses as needed or required. The technologist must be able to troubleshoot basic maintenance, participate in QA, and resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system. Expectation to participate in ongoing education, safety, and technical advances within their scope of licensure. The technologists will adhere to, and maintain, the expected imaging competencies as outlined by management. Observe radiation, personnel, and patient safety measures.
