As a Clinic Nurse (LPN)/Medical Assistant at MercyOne, you will

  • Escorts patients to exam rooms. Obtains and documents data to include but not limited to chief complaint, allergies, vital signs, pain level, medication history, and fall risk. Obtains and reviews basic health history information. Anticipates and prepares exam room with equipment and supplies required for the visit. Assists with exam/procedures as requested.
  •  Utilizes written Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa policies and procedures, and universal precautions when performing laboratory/diagnostic tests. Reports and documents all critical lab/diagnostic test values to the provider. Performs, maintains and documents quality controls as applicable/requested (i.e., logs, proficiency test, maintenance records, etc).
  • Assists in scheduling patient for office appointments, lab/diagnostic tests/referrals. Reviews written test preparation handout with patient and documents in medical record. Refers patient to provider/registered nurse if education is required.
  • Completes charge ticket/submits charges in an electronic health record to include and obtain the diagnosis from the provider, identifying and initialing all billable supplies and services. Obtains ABN per e-LMRP as necessary.

General Requirements: 

Medical Assistant

  • Graduate of an approved school for medical assistant required.

  • Credentialed as a medical assistant is required (CMA, RMA, NCMA). CCMA certification is accepted with successful completion of a training program

  • A minimum of six months work experience in a health care facility performing duties relating to patient care is preferred. Additional experience involving computer knowledge.

  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains current status.

    Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 3 years.

LPN

  • Graduate of a school of nursing is required.

This full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Medium and Heavy Truck Technology (MHTT) presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to the exceptional training and pedagogy at the College.

The Transportation Technologies department offers various degree and certificate options to prepare students to be successful technicians in the transportation industry. The department programming focuses on automotive service technology, carbon-based alternative fuels, electric vehicles & hybrids, heavy vehicle & truck repair, and Toyota technician training. All programs prepare students to pass the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) examinations and professional manufacturer certifications.

Medium and Heavy Truck Technology (MHTT) is an A.A.S degree program that enables students to gain hands-on, practical knowledge and service of medium and heavy vehicle and equipment platforms, including trucks, buses, tractor-trailer systems, and off-road equipment. The courses are both aligned and in compliance with the Automotive Service Excellence Education Foundation (ASEEF) to provide industry-certified quality of instruction and accreditation. Requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be at least 21 years old.

Job Description:

Onondaga Community College's School of Health, Wellness and Human Services seeks applicants for a full-time tenure track appointment within the Health Information Technology, AAS and Healthcare Administration AS programs. The major responsibilities within this role include support of the two programs through the development and delivery of content and learning activities in the traditional face-to-face classroom setting, academic advising, curriculum development, committee participation, and assessment of program and student learning outcomes.

The successful candidate will:

• Use appropriate technology to deliver and enhance learning
• Be innovative in the presentation of lectures and hands-on learning activities that achieve learning outcomes
• Provide timely feedback on students' assignments and exams throughout each semester
• Assess learning outcomes and adapt curriculum to meet learning objectives
• Be responsive to student questions and available for student support
• Demonstrate insight and encouragement in working with diverse student populations, especially students traditionally underrepresented in higher education
• Review and validate current affiliation agreements while exploring new opportunities for partnerships for student internships with local and regional community agencies
• Provide appropriate academic advising to students to support timely degree completion
• Be accountable to meet the needs of the Department and the College, including timely submission of grades and other required materials.

Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Option 1:

• Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalent
• RHIA credential (Registered Health Information Administrator)

Option 2:

• Master's degree in Healthcare Administration from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalent
• Supported by:
• Associate's degree in Health Information Technology with RHIT credential (Registered Health Information Technician) and a Bachelor's degree in a related health field; OR
• Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics
• Three years of experience in a healthcare delivery system required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Teaching experience at a college level, asynchronous online experience beneficial
• Master's degree from an accredited college, university, or foreign equivalency
• Experience with curriculum development
• Experience with course level, program level, and institutional assessment
• Bilingual in English and Spanish. English and another language will be considered
