Stites & Harbison, PLLC, a full-service law firm, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Nurse Paralegal to support attorneys handling complex tort and insurance-related matters in our Louisville office.

This is NOT a remote position. Only candidates within commuting distance of Louisville, KY will be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Medical Record Analysis: Review complex patient files, diagnostic tests, and healthcare documents to identify information relevant to a legal case.
  • Chronology Development: Create detailed medical chronologies, summaries, and timelines that correlate medical facts with case details.
  • Case Merit Evaluation: Assess the strengths and weakness of claims by identifying adherence or deviations from the standard of care.
  • Expert Witness Support: Identify and coordinate with medical experts, managing their document reviews, and assisting in the preparation of their testimony.
  • Legal Drafting & Research: Preform traditional paralegal duties like drafting pleadings, discovery requests, and research memorandums.
  • Internal Education: Translate complex medical terminology and procedures for legal teams and clients.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • An active RN license with a minimum of 5 years of clinical experience
  • Paralegal experience required, paralegal certificate or degree preferred from an ABA-approved program
  • Prior experience as a nurse paralegal, legal nurse consultant, or in litigation support
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare delivery, and clinical standards
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and document management systems
  • The ability to work in a team environment to collaborate on cases and projects
  • The ability to complete tasks independently
