Job Responsibilities

- Use the pharmacy computer to complete all actions necessary in order to maximize efficiency and provide optimal patient care at drop-off, will call, drive thru, phone, filling and order receiving, including but not limited to: searching for patients and profiles, determining dates of fill and pick-up, determining prescriptions sent to Central Fill, quoting cash prices of prescriptions, checking on-hand counts of medications and entering invoices.
- Assist team on actions plans in order to improve outcomes using knowledge of all appropriate service and business metrics.
- Assist in the execution of all company initiatives and programs.
- Complete required training program and accompanying exams.
- Follow all company, state and federal policies, laws and regulations, including HIPAA and Pseudoephedrine sales.
- Finalize sales using cash register according to established procedures, including the point of sale policies.
- Transcribe data from prescriptions accurately in order to generate a custom label for the customer.
- Assist with maintaining proper inventory levels by ordering, receiving, stocking and rotating drugs and other supplies per company policy and procedure.
- Answer telephone in a polite and timely manner, ensure accurate information is exchanged and the customer is satisfied.
- Resolve customer questions and concerns by communicating effectively with the customer and the management team and support staff in an efficient manner.
- File written prescriptions daily.

Accurately put away medication orders in assigned placement area to ensure accuracy in tracking inventory and filling patient orders.
Tech I also applies to Technicians in training who are new to Specialty retail. These techs may be learning functions related to the Tech II role including entry of prescription orders, verification of benefits, prior authorizations and other tech II functions.

Summary:
The 340b Program Coordinator is responsible for the oversight of 340b program operations at CHRISTUS Health acute inpatient facilities that qualify for program participation. Summary:

Responsibilities:

Operational Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepares and dispenses drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Interprets drug orders (verbal and written) and transcribes/verifies into computerized patient medication record accurately. Maintains, accurate, complete patient drug record.
- Compounds and dispenses pharmaceuticals including non-sterile and sterile products, chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition products accurately.
- Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law and institutional policies.
- Provides services efficiently and in a timely fashion.
- Maintains current pharmacist license. Ensures applicable CE records and licensure are maintained in department files. Attends staff meetings.
- Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements.
- Supervises and directs pharmacy support personnel. Verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians
- Ambulatory care Pharmacist: Provides ambulatory pharmaceutical care services utilizing approved protocols and/or collaborative agreement with other providers, including managing patient drug therapy, anticoagulation management, providing patient education, and preparing and/or overseeing the preparation and dispensing of medications. Performs duties in the clinical areas assigned such as but not limited to anticoagulation clinics, intensive medical home, transition of care, Discharge Medication reconciliation, etc.
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective drug therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies and appropriateness of drug and dose.
- Assists with pharmacokinetics consult service and renal drug dosing per hospital protocol.
- Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient medical records accurately.
- Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
- Sustains the hospital drug formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic substitution protocols, and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
- Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners as appropriate.
- Provides accurate, adequate, and timely drug information to the hospital’s professional staff.
- Provides drug education to patients and their families per institutional protocol.
- Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data, conducts monitors and inspections, and maintains logs, records and other documentation as assigned.
- Conducts designated interventions as defined in department Clinical Intervention activities (IV to PO, Renal Dosing, Pharmacokinetic dosing support, Anticoagulation). Baseline departmental standards for reporting interventions for clinical productivity as defined by departmental goals.
- Participates in antibiotic stewardship, opioid stewardship, and shortage management activities as assigned.
- Attends interdisciplinary rounds when assigned.
- Provides services efficiently and in a timely fashion.

Summary
This Specialty Billing Representative is responsible for managing billing and accounts receivable for the specialty pharmacy service line, including transplant, oncology, cystic fibrosis, infertility, and pulmonary therapies. This role ensures accurate and timely billing across medical and pharmacy benefit plans while maintaining compliance with payer and regulatory requirements. The position verifies insurance eligibility, reviews benefits, prepares routine billing reports, and prepares and manages monthly patient and payer statements. The Specialty Billing Representative processes and follows up on claim denials, underpayments, and overpayments to ensure appropriate resolution and reimbursement, and assists the pharmacy with Medicare audit-related billing information and patient balance collections.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and submits medical claims weekly for Oncology, Infertility, Cystic Fibrosis, Transplant, and Pulmonary therapies.
- Analyzes, resolves, and resubmits rejected or underpaid claims for payment.
- Identifies trends and recommends process improvement opportunities that will result in DSO reduction, superior collection rate and intervals, and reduced bad debt.
- Assists management with the training of new employees on all the outpatient pharmacy billing systems.
- Assists management and new employees on coding issues, payor contracts, and collection policies.
- Participates in special payer projects with management staff to ensure proper reimbursement per our contracts or patients' benefit levels.
- Interacts with patients and insurance carriers to resolve outstanding claims issues.
- Maintain a specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
- Provides guidance to the pharmacy manager to ensure financial targets are met.
Other Information
Required Job Qualifications:
- Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with specialty or home infusion pharmacy billing.
- Minimum 1 year of Medicare (Part B) and Medicaid billing.
- Knowledge of billing procedures for all commercial and governmental payors.
- Knowledge of HCPC and ICD codes and maintains up-to-date professional knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid and insurance industry requirements for qualifying services.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with others in a professional and helpful manner. Demonstrates ability to adapt to a changing environment.
- Possess the ability to work effectively with others as part of a team.
- Good organizational and time management skills.
Preferred Job Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree from an accredited university
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician.
- In lieu of minimum education requirements, a high school diploma (or equivalent) and at least 6 years of relevant job experience may be considered. With additional consideration given if the candidate has at least 2 years of Medicare (Part B) and Medicaid billing.
