Project description
This technology engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliability, supportability, and continuous improvement of key infrastructure monitoring and management platforms, with primary ownership focus on tools such as SolarWinds, Azure Sentinel. This role requires a developer mindset. This person will also be providing operations systems administration support for hands on Linux and Windows systems. This role partners closely with internal teams across operations, monitoring, and security to strengthen platform health, improve signal quality, and enable effective incident response workflows. The engineer will support a hybrid environment with strong emphasis on Microsoft Azure monitoring and logging, contribute to platform lifecycle activities (patching, upgrades, onboarding, documentation), and continuously learn and apply modern capabilities— including analytics and emerging AI features—across event management, observability, and SIEM tooling to reduce operational friction and increase time to value
Responsibilities
Platform Ownership
Network & Monitoring Tools (must have)
Familiar with tools such as SolarWinds (including NetPath). As a platform owner, ensure platform stability, upgrades, patching, and day to day support.
Has knowledge about network centric monitoring capabilities including SNMP polling, traps, and device visibility etc. Ensure new sites and devices are properly onboarded
Partner with platform and cloud teams to ensure migrated workloads meet monitoring standards. Systems Administration (must have)
Provide sysadmin support for Linux and Windows servers, including:
Agent deployment and upgrades (SolarWinds, Datadog, Dynatrace)
OS level troubleshooting and configuration
Monitoring and logging enablement
Support hybrid environments spanning on prem and Azure infrastructure.
A developer mindset with experience in Dev workflow, GitHub, PowerShell etc.

Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Information Professional Officers in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, Information Professional Officers may serve anywhere in the world, whether on a ship at sea or at bases and installations on shore.

Our Senior Embedded Real-Time Software Developer/Integrator is a technical position that works in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment to architect, design, implement, test, debug, and deploy Software for Firmware (FPGA) and Hardware solutions that meet current and next generation autonomous avionics systems’ needs. Working with a cross-discipline team, the candidate must have experience developing, testing, and integrating software for edge or embedded devices and/or subsystems (like telecom, medical, IoT, automotive, or robotics) where hardware operation, time critical function, functional reliability, mission assurance, and safety might be major concerns.
The successful candidate will work with Product Owners, Chief Engineers, Management and other IPT members using Lean and/or Agile practices to ensure that embedded software is designed and developed to reliably operate toward the intended functions.
This position is within the Effectors Center of the Software organization, and is an onsite role located in Tucson, AZ.
What You Will Do
Architecting, designing, implementing, testing, and debugging integrated embedded real-time software within heterogenous systems composed of firmware and hardware.
Working within a cross-discipline team to define, refine, and improve product concept, implementation, testability, and guaranteed, measurable quality.
Teaching, coaching, and mentoring less experienced staff.
Contributing to proposals as well as preliminary and critical design reviews.
Ability to obtain program access.

Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
Experience including at least two of the following: Embedded C++ Software, Embedded Software Security, Software Architecture Design and Implementation.
Experience using embedded Real Time Operating Systems (RTOS) (e.g., Green Hills, Integrity, Wind River VxWorks, Linux, etc.)
Experience developing complex systems involving the integration of hardware, firmware, and software
Active and transferrable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain program access after start .
Qualifications We Prefer
Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and relating it to software function
Familiarity with reading firmware source like VHDL or Verilog
Familiarity with assembly language in at least one processor/controller family
Experience using lab instruments like power-supplies, digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers
Experience with developing device drivers for bare-metal and/or OS applications

The DevSecOps Lead Engineer will architect and implement secure development and execution environments for the rapid prototyping and experimentation we use to answer our customers’ toughest questions about future technologies and capabilities. The Virtual Warfare Center executes far-reaching analysis to address military capability gaps in and across multiple warfighting domains in the face of accelerating adversary capabilities. In DevSecOps you will be part of a team modernizing our approach to software development and enhancing our security posture.
As the Virtual Warfare Center’s DevSecOps Team Lead you will lead a team of engineers designing, implementing, and monitoring software development infrastructure across multiple networks and physical locations across the United States. You will build and maintain cross-functional relationships with multiple teams to coordinate the selection, approval, deployment, and maintenance of a consistent set of software tools in all locations. Your work will guarantee our development and deployment infrastructure and processes are reliable, efficient, consistent, and secure. Your team will partner with relevant stakeholders to create processes, design cloud-based solutions, support deploying applications in cloud environments, evaluate solution performance and implement enhancements. Position Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining a consistent, secure software development toolchain across multiple networks and physical locations.
- Spearhead the approval and implementation of continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines into collateral secret and program spaces.
- Coordinate between software development, IT, and security teams on vulnerability tracking and mitigation, driving efforts forward.
- Architect and implement the transition of a multi-site, multi-network software development environment into a cloud-based approach.
- Lead trade studies and tool selection to upgrade and modernize software development processes and operational infrastructure.
