The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed care givers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized high quality, safe patient care. They practice in a clinical environment that is administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and is supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. The framework for practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model and evidence-based practice and research. RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by the Wellstar Values.

It is expected that all RN Clinical Nurses are licensed, knowledgeable and uphold the practice of nursing as outlined by the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act and implements the Scope of Practice and Code of Ethics Standards put forth by the American Nurses Association. As a member of the patient services team, it is expected that the individual upholds the voice of the patient, system policies and procedures while supporting service excellence goals.

A. Performs the Nursing Process (assessment; diagnosis; identification of outcomes; planning; implementation and evaluation) in the performance of clinical care using evidence base practice, uses analytical/critical thinking and ensuring that care is individualized; coordinating care through effective partnerships recognizing that caring is central to achieve optimal patient care outcomes
B. Provides relationship-based patient centered care that is consistent with population specific characteristics (e.g. age, gender, disease, etc) in a manner that adapts service delivery to reflect an understanding of cultural diversity
C. Always partners with the patient and significant others (as appropriate) using such appropriate method for setting and purpose (e.g., bedside shift report; interdisciplinary rounds; just in time and planned patient teaching; keeping the patient and significant others updated and making the patient's goals the focus of the plan of care.
D. Practices using current clinical practice standards.

A. Coordinates the delivery and documentation of safe quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model. Description Summary: Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse/licensed Nurse, this Job will assist with routine and repetitive patient care activities in a nursing unit.

This Job also performs specific clerical, organizational, and patient-focused activities.

The patient-focused tasks will be supportive in nature.

Responsibilities: Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

Assists with the admission, transfer, and discharge of patients.

Completes pertinent documents.

Prepares rooms for admission by setting up IV pots, and adjusting bed to the appropriate level.

Assures that all patient belongings accompany the patient to the new unit or home at time of discharge.

Safely transports stable patients as required.

Maintains security/confidentiality when transporting patients and interacting with family and visitors.

Cleans, procures and returns equipment and supplies.

Run errands for the unit as required.

Assist Licensed personnel in providing a safe and comfortable environment at all times; replenish patient room with water, linen, and towels, as appropriate.

Perform unit-specific patient care tasks in accordance with the skills checklist and documents on the flowsheet.

Identify obvious changes in the patient's condition and take responsibility for reporting those changes promptly to the nurse in charge.

Assist with the ordering and maintenance of stock items according to established inventory when needed.

Keeps unit supplies in an organized and orderly fashion.

Respond appropriately to emergencies.

Communicate effectively with other team members during and between shifts.

Responds to phone calls and patient call lights.

Appropriately adapt assigned patient assessment, treatment, and/or care methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age-specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.

Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a manner that meets the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.

Job Requirements: Education/Skills High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience Patient care experience in an acute care setting is preferred.

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications CNA License in state of employment required.

BLS required.

Summary:

Assists in the examination, treatment and care of patients. Also, responsible for phones, appointments, obtaining insurance authorizations for test/surgeries, medical record preparation. Associate is also responsible for assisting the supervising physician or nurse as needed;
and assisting with surgical procedures and with admitting and screening patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists physicians by preparing patients for an examination/treatment/procedure, etc.
  • Obtain patients films, reports, CD’s and have ready for physician viewing prior to physician appointment.
  • Removing staples, sutures, external fixation devices as ordered by the physician.
  • Collecting or assisting with the collection of specimens, including venipuncture, C & S. Prepare specimens for processing as directed by physician.
  • Assisting physician with procedures as needed.
  • Instructing patients regarding care of casts, splints, dressings, etc.
  • Transport/transfer patients when required.
  • Takes blood pressure, weight, height, pulse, temperature and/or respiration and completed patient history information, vital signs, chief complaints;
    assists with any procedures, injections, etc. ordered by the provider.
  • Responsible for handling all aspects of a clinic/hospital wide activity such as phone usage, appointments, data entry of charts and lab and x-ray with patient transport ans assistance as needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and instrumentation per clinic and OSHA policies. Prepare exam rooms with necessary instruments and supplies.
  • Performs POCT Procedures as trained and instructed.
  • Order medical supplies per clinical standards.
  • Document all incidents according to mandated rules and regulations and properly dispose of contaminated and disposable items.
  • Ensure all patient information is scanned appropriately and the medical record is complete with all reports (signed by physician), etc prior to patient visit.
  • Demonstrates competence to perform assigned patient care responsibilities in a
  • manner that meets the age specific and developmental needs of patients served by the department.
  • Appropriately adapts assigned assessment, treatment, and/or service methods to accommodate the unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific, and other developmental needs of each patient served.
  • Follows/uses AIDET guidelines at all times.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Health Care.
  • Maintains HIPAA Compliance Standards at all times.
  • Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to filing, faxing, copying, setting appointments, insurance verification, and making phone calls.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Some travel between clinics/hospitals will be required.
  • Performs other related work as required.

Job Requirements:

Education/Skills

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred

Experience

  • 3 – 4 years of experience doing advanced cases preferred

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • BLS required
  • Certification from an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred
