2027 Summer Associate Program (Class of 2028)

Burke, Warren, MacKay & Serritella, P.C. will host a ten-week Summer Associate Program in-person in its Chicago office during the Summer of 2027 for rising 3L law students (i.e., the Class of 2028). The Program will commence on June 1, 2027 and run through August 7, 2027. Summer Associates will be compensated based upon a pro-rated first-year associate salary.

Summer Associates in 2027 will receive a variety of substantive and challenging work assignments. Spectator assignments will be integrated with research and writing assignments. Work product from each assignment will be evaluated by the supervising and assigning attorneys. Summer Associates will also be encouraged to proactively seek feedback from the attorneys with whom they are working. There will be a formal evaluation mid-summer and at the conclusion of the Program.

Compensation: The hiring salary for this position is $160,000 year, pro-rated for time spent at the firm.

Position Summary:

The Vice President is responsible for supporting the Distressed Investment Team's management of the restructuring and liability management processes of Octagon's stressed and distressed investments. The Vice President will also collaborate closely with industry sector analysts to develop and implement strategies for managing such investments. They will put together Investment Committee memos and facilitate discussion of restructuring/workout strategies. They will also lead or participate in restructuring negotiations for in and out of court proceedings and coordinate with internal teams (legal, trading, operations, etc.) on all administrative matters throughout the lifecycle of Octagon's distressed investments.
