ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior Design Engineer at TASSCO, you will lead the design and execution of custom-engineered bulk material handling systems and components for abrasive environments. This role combines deep technical expertise in material flow, structural design, and wear mitigation with a hands-on, project-driven approach. You’ll own projects from concept to final implementation—ensuring system reliability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness.
You will collaborate closely with sales, operations, manufacturing, and field teams while leveraging tools such as AutoCAD Inventor and discrete element modeling (DEM) to optimize performance. Your designs will directly contribute to the success of capital and MRO projects across industries including mining, aggregates, power generation, and heavy industrial.
LOCATION: Birmingham, Alabama. Office hours: 7:30-4:30pm.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead engineering design of custom bulk material handling systems including transfer chutes, towers, supports, and liners
- Apply DEM software and simulation data to enhance material flow and reduce wear
- Create detailed design packages including 3D models, BOMs, stress calculations, and manufacturing notes
- Specify structural reinforcements, wear-resistant materials, and overlay/fabrication techniques
- Interface with CNC, plasma cutting, forming, and welding processes to ensure manufacturability
- Coordinate closely with sales, estimating, shop, and field service teams throughout the design cycle
- Review customer bid packages and translate specifications into actionable engineering plans
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight on drafting, design standards, and QA processes
- Deliver complete design proposals including scope definition, system layout, and budget analysis
SUCCESS METRICS
First 3 Months: Learn TASSCO’s design standards, ERP workflows, materials, and key systems. Support ongoing projects with AutoCAD 3D layouts and fabrication drawings. Begin conducting DEM model reviews and participating in site visits
First 6 Months: Independently lead small-to-mid-size design projects and generate full drawing packages. Perform structural calculations and specify reinforcement and wear treatments. Incorporate DEM results into optimized designs and complete at least one full system
First Year: Deliver multiple large-scale designs with high accuracy and manufacturability. Lead capital and MRO project design scopes from concept to implementation. Mentor team members and propose improvements in materials or processes for performance gains
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required.
Experience:
- 8–10 years of engineering experience in mechanical or structural design, ideally within custom steel fabrication or heavy industrial systems.
- Proven background designing bulk material handling systems or other engineered-to-order capital equipment.
Certifications:
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a strong plus but not required.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD Inventor and 3D modeling.
- Hands-on experience with discrete element modeling (DEM) software for flow simulation.
- Strong knowledge of welding and fabrication techniques (e.g., overlay, hard-facing), CNC processes, and manufacturing constraints.
- Experience applying AWS, AISC, and OSHA standards to structural and welded assemblies.

A growing steel fabrication and reinforcing operation is seeking a hands-on Plant Manager to lead the startup and ongoing operation of a new production facility in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
This role will be responsible for bringing a new facility online, including equipment installation, commissioning, plant layout, workflow development, staffing, and process implementation. Once operational, this individual will assume full responsibility for daily production, scheduling, and overall plant performance. Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Welder/Fabricator role located in Ogden, UT. The role involves performing various welding processes, including MIG welding, and working with different materials to fabricate and assemble steel components. The individual will be responsible for maintaining safety standards, reading blueprints, setting up and operating equipment, and ensuring quality craftsmanship. Collaboration with team members and adherence to deadlines will be crucial for success in this position.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in various welding techniques, including Arc Welding, and MIG Welding
- Strong knowledge and experience with different materials used in steel fabrication
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and shop drawings
- Experience with welding and fabrication tools, equipment, and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship
- Physical ability to perform essential job duties, such as lifting and operating heavy tools
- Prior experience in steel fabrication is an advantage

Waukegan Steel is a structural steel fabricator serving the Chicagoland area. Our team has worked on various projects throughout the city including, Soldier Field, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Navy Pier, Willis Tower, Northwestern Welsh-Ryan Arena, Washington/Wabash CTA Platform, Ravinia Festival, and Lincoln Park Zoo. The Steel Estimator will be responsible for preparing estimates of labor and vendor pricing for final projects.
The estimator role is a key member of our preconstruction team as they review potential projects and prepare bid pricing/proposals for our customers. Tasks will vary from project to project as needed – document review, direct quantity takeoffs, defining scopes of work, solicitation and follow-up for subcontractor/vendor pricing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Follow established Waukegan Steel pre-construction group policies and procedures
- Review project documents and develop strong knowledge of project scope and all requirements
- Prepare structural steel and misc metals quantity takeoffs
- Prepare detailed scope of work documentation
- Support pre-con team as needed with preparation of estimate summaries
Education and Experience:
- Strong interest in working for a Structural Steel fabricator/subcontractor
- Strong interest in being part of a pre-construction team focused on estimating work
- Proficient with architectural/structural blueprint reading
- Strong computer skills, proficient with learning new software applications
- Experience with structural steel/misc metals preferred
- Education: BS Structural or Civil Engineering is preferred

Position Overview
Steel Peak is seeking an Acquisitions Director to lead sourcing, underwriting, and execution of IOS acquisitions across multiple U.S. markets. This role requires a driven and relationship-oriented professional who can manage the full acquisition lifecycle from deal sourcing and broker engagement to underwriting, diligence, and leasing support. The ideal candidate has acquisition or brokerage experience in IOS or industrial, strong broker relationships, and the ability to operate both strategically and tactically within a fast-growing investment platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Source and evaluate IOS and low-coverage industrial opportunities across multiple markets
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, owners, and local market players
- Underwrite acquisition opportunities, prepare and present IC memos
- Lead negotiations on deal terms, letters of intent, and purchase agreements in coordination with executive leadership and legal counsel
- Participate in leasing calls with brokers and collaborate with asset management on tenant negotiations
- Track market data, lease comps, sale comps, availabilities, and deal pipeline
- Report on pipeline activity and performance metrics to executive leadership
- Travel regularly to target markets for property tours, broker meetings, and on-the-ground market research
- Maintain accurate pipeline, deal, and relationship data within the company’s CRM to ensure visibility and accountability across the acquisitions team
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Real Estate, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in industrial real estate acquisitions or brokerage, preferably value-add, IOS or industrial-focused
- Established broker and owner relationships in Western U.S. industrial markets
- Strong underwriting and analytical skills, with experience using financial modeling tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead deals independently from sourcing to close
- Entrepreneurial mindset with excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Comfortable operating in a dynamic, high-growth environment
