Responsibilities


  • Perform numerical modeling in support of coastal processes (Waves, flows, sediment transport, coastal morphology change) in support of coastal engineering projects such as beach dune and marsh restoration, coastal structures, inlet management, coastal resiliency and coastal flooding.
  • Coordinate and establish effective working relationships with team members, project managers, and clients.
  • Conduct numerical modeling studies from start to finish including pre-processing data, creating modeling grids, developing and implement boundary conditions, conducting numerical model calibration, project scenario simulations, post processing results, creation of modeling graphics and videos and preparation of final deliverables including technical report and power point presentations.
  • Participate in project decisions regarding numerical modeling scope and scheduling.
  • Prepare various project documents including reports, technical memorandums and technical papers to be published in specialized journals.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Oceanography or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with numerical modeling of coastal and estuarine systems, including coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and morphology change, utilizing Delft3D and XBeach modelling suites.
  • Experience with Matlab programming, specifically development of pre- and post-processing scripts for Delft3D applications.
  • Experience with wave and tide schematization for long-term morphology change simulations of beaches and inlets.
  • Willingness and availability to travel to other offices and client sites on occasion.
  • Strong background in coastal processes.
  • Proficient English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Be able to legally work in the USA.

The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Professional Researcher at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank. The selected candidate will be appointed at the rank to commensurate with prior experience. The position will report to Professor Gokul Upadhyayula, with Professor Eric Betzig serving as an additional academic mentor. The researcher will conduct independent research at a level comparable to the Professor series.



The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) at UC Berkeley aspires to be a world-leading multidisciplinary imaging center that drives important biological discoveries through critical new advances in all aspects of imaging technology and that drives the dissemination of that technology through a multi-pronged education strategy to scientists around the world. ABC was intentionally designed to maximize scientific productivity and impact by adopting groundbreaking imaging technologies such as the next-generation adaptive optical multifunctional microscope, incorporating the high-level technical expertise of instrumentation scientists, applied mathematicians, and computational scientists, and building worldwide collaborations aimed at tackling the challenges posed by terabyte and petabyte-scale imaging data processing, visualization, and dissemination. Members of the ABC have access to leading - edge imaging and computing hardware, as well as exposure to collaborators from a range of diverse disciplines, including in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, and more.



This position will focus on advanced, independent research leading the ABC computational team to develop vision-transformer-based foundation machine learning models. The Researcher will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of optical physicists, engineers, and computational imaging researchers to achieve the ambitious goal of creating a generative AI model for segmenting and querying complex 4D high-resolution data of zebrafish development. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to advancing biological imaging and AI-driven data analysis at the intersection of biology and computational science.



As this project grows, the individual will be expected to expand their leadership and adapt to the evolving scope of the research. The role will begin with leading efforts to supervise data collection and management, model development, and collaborating with leadership across the center. The researcher will build and manage a team of data scientists, and computational biologists to test AI-driven imaging models and will facilitate scientific collaborations with local, domestic, and international researchers. This position will take on a growing role and contribute to a groundbreaking initiative in biological imaging.

*Conduct and design independent research and lead a team of data scientists and software engineers to enable the development of state-of-the-art AI models for light sheet microscopy data.

The team is presently leading Etsy's migration from Tensorflow to Pytorch, building upon an innovative architecture designed in-house and based on KServe, NVIDIA Triton, Apache Arrow, and Ray. We are using this opportunity to fill in historical gaps in automation, integration, and standardization across the ML platform. We aspire to unify modeling approaches across all major ML development teams at Etsy. What does the day-to-day look like? Meet with customers to understand their latest use cases. Work with your team and partners to translate those use cases into concrete requirements. Offer an informed point of view on engineering, system design, and machine learning considerations. Keep track of ongoing issues (stability, performance, cost) with models on the platform, and identify short-term fixes and long-term platform improvements. Maintain a product roadmap, lead agile processes and plan workstreams for a team of 4 ICs. Occasionally lead multi-functional \"tiger teams\" for dedicated projects. Coach your ICs and support their career development trajectories. Qualities that will help you thrive are: A strong track record of developing and serving machine learning models at scale, with at least 4 years in a leadership capacity (tech lead or EM) and 2 years as an engineering manager. Passion for building platforms that don't just work, but that are easy to maintain and extend, and are delightful to use. You are a strong collaborator, communicator, and coach and you are passionate about helping the engineers around you grow and learn. You have 5+ years of experience building, iterating and solving complex problems with a significant backend component. Background and hands-on experience with Cloud technologies (Google Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes) is a plus.

As a Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Modeling and Simulation Engineer, you will develop the physics-based models that enable rapid iteration and certification-grade validation of GNC software. You will perform simulation analysis and assess correlation with real-world data to demonstrate that the models are representative of the actual system.

Responsibilities

  • Develop physics-based models representative of aircraft dynamics (aerodynamics, ground reactions, actuator models, etc.)

  • Identify, request, and analyze flight tests necessary to inform modeling

  • Conduct closed-loop testing of flight control systems with simulated aircraft dynamics

  • Develop tools for visualizing and analyzing simulation and flight data

  • Perform validation of simulation models against flight test data

Basic Success Criteria

  • BS in aerospace engineering, robotics, or related field

  • 5+ years experience with aerodynamics, flight dynamics simulation, and system identification

  • Experience with Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink, and Linux-based development environments and scripting

  • Experience with developing validated physics-based models as well as integration and testing of these models

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Criteria

  • MS or PhD in aerospace engineering, robotics, or related field

As we expand our product lineup, we’re looking for a Class A / 3D Surface Model Designer to help shape the next generation of Remote Vans interiors and exterior components.

About the Role

This role is focused on the design and development of future Remote Vans products, including both interior environments and exterior components. You’ll work closely with our product, engineering, and fabrication teams to translate design intent into production-ready Class A surfaces that elevate both form and function.


This is a hands-on, with periodic on-site contract role where your work will directly influence real-world products—from concept through build.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create and refine Class A surfaces for van interiors, exteriors, and integrated product systems
  • Develop high-quality 3D surface models from concept sketches, industrial design inputs, and engineering constraints
  • Collaborate with product designers, engineers, and builders to ensure seamless integration into real-world builds
  • Balance aesthetic excellence with manufacturability and durability for mobile environments
  • Conduct surface evaluations (curvature, transitions, reflections, fitment, etc.)
  • Iterate rapidly based on feedback in a fast-paced product development cycle
  • Prepare clean, organized models ready for prototyping and production
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience in Class A surfacing and 3D modeling, ideally in automotive, transportation, or product design
  • Proficiency in tools such as Alias, ICEM Surf, CATIA, or similar
  • Strong understanding of surface continuity (G2/G3), transitions, and high-quality visual surfacing
  • Ability to translate design intent into manufacturable geometry
  • Experience working in cross-functional product teams
  • Strong attention to detail and craftsmanship mindset
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience designing for mobile, off-road, or rugged environments
  • Background in interior systems, cabinetry, or integrated product design
