Senior Associate (founder shadow)
🏒 Nucleus
Salary not disclosed
Fremont, CA 2 days ago

About Nucleus

Nucleus is a research-driven talent and intelligence platform for the next generation of investors, built at the intersection of data, experimentation, and community. We hire investors for some of the best firms in the world and are building the network, community, and intelligence layer around the people shaping the future of venture and company building.

The Role

This is a foundational hire working directly with the founder across research, community, events, client relationships, fellow experience, and search execution. One day you may be building cap tables. Another you may be running a mixer for 40 fellows or sitting in on a GP hiring conversation at a top firm.

The title is intentional. You will be in the room early, learning how the best firms operate and earning responsibility as you prove you can carry it. Over time you will own projects and workstreams. The starting point is proximity, pattern recognition, and high output across a wide surface area.

The founder focuses on strategy, vision, brand, community, and high-trust client relationships. Your role is to absorb the operational surface area so his time goes to the work only he can do. Nothing drops while he goes deep.

What the work looks like

  • Work side by side with the founder across research, community, content, events, and client delivery
  • Own the operational follow-through: prep materials, follow-ups, scheduling, and keeping workstreams moving between meetings
  • Conduct research on investors and firms. Build and maintain the Nucleus Brain so the founder can go deeper on priority engagements.
  • Collaborate on candidate shortlists and search materials for active client work
  • Help coordinate NEXT Fellowship programming, pod logistics, and fellow experience
  • Plan and execute community events: mixers, firesides, dinners, partner programming
  • Draft and edit external communications: emails, proposals, partnership materials, client decks β€’ Contribute to content across Nucleus Intelligence, Substack, social, and the Rise podcast
  • Help shape brand and media presence
  • Pick up whatever needs to get done so nothing falls through the cracks

Who you are

  • 1 to 2 years in a high-intensity environment: investment banking, management consulting, executive search at a top firm, or an operating role at a venture-funded startup
  • Genuinely curious about venture capital, the people in it, and how the industry actually works
  • Technical bias. At the least, you are highly analytical by nature and can find information others can't and synthesize it clearly
  • Warm, high-energy, and natural with people. You make rooms better when you walk in.
  • Excellent writer with a tight, dense style
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and context-switching in a fast-moving, founder-led environment
  • Based in San Francisco or NYC. Remote will be considered. Must be in the US and be willing to travel.

Why this role

You will have a front-row seat to how the best venture firms operate, hire, and think about talent. You will build relationships with builders, investors, LPs, and emerging managers that most people spend years trying to access. And you will help build a company from the ground floor with real revenue, real clients, and a vision that extends well beyond search.

Promotions follow ownership and output, not tenure. We stay intentionally lean. Earn it, and the path to real ownership is short.

This is a greenfield leadership opportunity for a scientist who has previously built or led botanical authentication programs and wants to architect a best-in-class system using modern lab infrastructure and scalable processes.

Position description

The Pantas and Ting Sutardja Center for Entrepreneurship & Technology (SCET) at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach experiential-based courses in SCET, housed within the College of Engineering, should an opening arise. The number of positions varies from semester to semester (Spring, Summer and Fall) depending on the needs of the department.

UC Berkeley's SCET is the premier institution for the study and practice of entrepreneurship and technology innovation. SCET's mission is to empower innovators to positively change the world and believe mindsets and behaviors matter, diversity adds value, and innovators should be responsible for what they create. Since 2005, SCET has created the foundation of Berkeley's entrepreneurship ecosystem and is known for developing the Berkeley Method, an internationally recognized approach to teaching technology entrepreneurship to undergraduate students, innovation to graduate students, and technology firm leadership to executives and professionals. SCET is where aspiring entrepreneurs and innovators take a deep dive into the world of entrepreneurship and technology innovation. SCET courses offer students the opportunity to learn from experts in their fields, as well as their classmates, and address real-world problems through hands-on group projects. Students have the chance to build networks, learn how to start and grow their own start up, and strengthen transferrable skills in areas such as leadership, teamwork, and communication. The mindsets and skills introduced in SCET classes prepare students to become innovative leaders in their industry, jobs or ventures regardless of the field.

SCET hires a number of qualified professionals and academics to hold temporary lecturer appointments to lend variety and subject matter expertise to our core topics. The topics in our Fall, Spring and Summer curriculum may include but are not limited to: Technology Entrepreneurship, the Berkeley Method of Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Product Management, and other advanced topics and challenge labs in entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology including, but not limited to environmental sustainability, plant based foods, smart cities, future of work, health technology, sports technology, and other emerging technologies and industries.

SCET hires for both lecturer and Teacher Special Program (TSP) positions. TSPs teach short courses on one or more of the topic areas listed. Most TSP courses are taught in a 'bootcamp' format in August and January. Lecturers and TSPs are responsible for the course syllabus, curriculum development and delivery, holding office hours, student assessment through relevant projects, presentations, problem sets, exams, and/or class attendance and participation, and assigning grades.

Executive Assistant to a Series Founder | Austin | $150-$180,000
✦ New
🏒 TalentSmiths
Salary not disclosed
Austin, TX 11 hours ago

The short version

One of Austin's most connected founders is building something serious.

He operates across multiple ventures. All of them are insane.

His network is extraordinary. His pace is relentless. And he needs an EA who can keep up.

This role has Chief of Staff written all over it.

The longer version

Let's be honest about what this job actually is.

You are not joining a corporate machine. There is no committee to escalate decisions to. There is no nine-to-five rhythm. You are the operational nerve centre for a founder who moves fast, thinks big, and has a calendar full of people who matter.

Think venture partners, policy leaders, authors, media executives, and the kind of entrepreneurs who are shaping what comes next. The access you will have through this role is the kind that most EAs spend a career trying to earn.

But access comes with expectation.

He needs someone who can orchestrate complex schedules across multiple organisations without dropping the ball. Someone who prepares briefings that actually change how a meeting goes. Someone who writes on his behalf and sounds like him, not like a robot. Someone who manages relationships with the discretion and warmth of a trusted gatekeeper, not a bouncer.

This is not a role for someone who waits to be told what to do. It's a role for someone who figures it out.

The world you're walking into

Your principal is building at the centre of one of the most fascinating Cities in America, creating opportunities, building very real things with very real people.

The people in his orbit would make you sit up. And you'll be the one managing the access.

What you'll actually be doing

Complex diary and travel management across multiple ventures and time zones.

Drafting correspondence, briefing documents, and communications on behalf of your principal.

Managing relationships with investors, partners, and senior stakeholders.

Owning the logistics of events, from intimate dinners to large-scale gatherings.

Filtering, prioritising, and ensuring nothing important slips.

Being the eyes and ears when your principal cannot be in the room.

And yes, the other stuff. Because great EAs don't think anything is beneath them.

Who you are

You've supported a founder, CEO, or senior executive before, and you're not precious about it. You understand that serving someone at this level is a craft, not a compromise.

You're calm under pressure. Fast without being sloppy. You write well. You read the room. You protect your principal's time like it's your own.

You're probably the smartest person in most rooms but would never say so.

You understand that elite EA work is fundamentally about judgment. When to ask. When to act. When to push back.

Why this role is different

The EA who thrives here won't just manage a calendar. They'll become indispensable to how this founder operates. They'll see how deals get done, how communities get built, how influence actually works.

This is a launchpad. Chief of Staff potential for the right person.

Location

Austin, Texas. On-site, five days a week. This is a physical operation, and being present is the point.
