As an Environmental Health & Safety Officer (EHS Officer), you will create, implement, and maintain Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) programs for our growing list of life science and high-tech clients. Your time will be spent on-site with our clients, developing and implementing customized safety programs in hazard communication, biosafety, chemical safety, emergency preparedness, radiation safety, and facilities safety. You will interact with visionaries, researchers, and senior management at leading firms in a fast-paced and highly varied environment. Job Responsibilities

• Hands-on development and implementation of client EHS programs, including: Biosafety, Chemical Safety, Radiation Safety, Hazard Communication, Emergency Preparedness, Additional OSHA specific safety programs as needed.
• Establishment and maintenance of EHS permits and licenses in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations.
• Conduct Job Safety Analyses for hazardous materials processes.
• Conduct Risk Assessments to analyze and evaluate the proper handling of biological materials.
• Work with clients’ staff to develop a culture of EHS and worker safety by expanding and writing policies, procedures, instructions and manuals.
• Coordinate and facilitate safety committees.
• Prepare and deliver training to fulfill regulatory requirements and ensure clients’ employees are fully aware of the safety program.
• Maintain complete documentation of all aspects of the EHS program.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree; Biology or Chemistry degrees strongly preferred.
• Master’s degree or PhD in Life Sciences desired.
• 2+ years of experience in a laboratory setting (biotechnology, pharmaceutical research, academic science, or medical technology science preferred) or EHS related work experience.
• Must have valid driver's license, ability to commute to various locations on a daily basis, and potentially multiple locations during the workday.

The College of Environmental Design (CED) at UC Berkeley invites applications for a pool of qualified lecturers or lecturers in lieu of GSIs to teach studio and non-studio courses for the CED Summer Programs in the following areas: architecture, city planning, urban design, landscape architecture and digital media. Should an opening arise, screening of applicants will primarily take place in the early spring semester for a summer appointment, and will continue as needed into the summer. The number of positions varies, depending upon the needs of the CED Summer Programs.

General Duties: In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal's electronic resources for course management. New lecturers will also be expected to participate in a teaching workshop.

The service assistant independently performs patient rooms, facility and equipment cleaning responsibilities including but not limited to scrubbing, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, disinfecting, ceiling vent cleaning, replenishes supplies and inventory, chemical usage and dilution methods, changing isolation curtains, linen pickup, trash and cardboard disposal and biohazard waste disposal.

La Rabida Children’s Hospital provides specialized, family-centered health care to children with medically complex conditions, disabilities, and chronic illness. Through expertise, compassion, and advocacy we help children and their families reach their fullest potential, regardless of their ability to pay.

Our not-for-profit hospital, licensed for 49 beds, helps transition children from neonatal or pediatric intensive care to home, by providing medical, rehabilitative and developmental care, and by training families to continue treatments and manage the necessary equipment in the home. La Rabida also provides extensive rehabilitation for those recovering from wounds or burns and treatment for exacerbations of chronic conditions.

The hospital’s enhanced pediatric patient-centered medical home provides primary care to children with complex medical conditions and their siblings. Children with medical homes elsewhere come to La Rabida for specialty services. La Rabida offers a wide range of specialty services provided to children with sickle cell disease, diabetes, and many others. Children are supported in their emotional and developmental growth, particularly in cases where such growth has been interrupted by accident or disease.

Finally, La Rabida provides forensic and treatment services for children exposed to abuse and neglect, comprehensive assessments for youth in care, early intervention for children between 0 and 3 years of age. The EVS specialist assists in all operational activities, maintaining a pleasant, comfortable, and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors. An EVS Specialist is responsible for collecting waste from all areas of the hospital including biohazard waste, buff/scrub/recoat floors, assist with laundry carts to and from floors to laundry room, and similar tasks.
