A Day in the Life of the IP Docketing Paralegal
In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping the firm’s intellectual property matters running smoothly by maintaining the docketing system and ensuring critical patent and trademark deadlines are accurately tracked. You’ll collaborate with attorneys and legal staff to monitor deadlines across U.S. and international filings, helping protect clients’ innovations through organized and timely case management. Your work directly supports the firm’s mission of helping innovators secure and maintain their intellectual property rights.
Responsibilities include:
- Maintain and update the firm’s IP docketing system (CPI)
- Review incoming correspondence and filings to determine docketing relevance
- Accurately docket deadlines for U.S., PCT, and foreign patent and trademark matters
- Calculate and track deadlines for new U.S., PCT, national stage, and foreign application filings
- Docket Office Actions for U.S. patent, trademark, and PCT matters
- Track foreign actions, maintenance fees, annuities, and trademark renewals
- Docket trademark declarations, Statements of Use, and TTAB matters
- Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly deadline reports to attorneys and staff
- Follow up with responsible attorneys regarding upcoming deadlines
- Escalate urgent or missed deadlines according to firm protocol
- Assist with onboarding new matters into the docketing system
- Maintain electronic IP files according to firm procedures
- Support docketing best practices and risk management procedures
- Participate in process improvement initiatives
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 4+ years of patent prosecution paralegal experience
- Hands-on experience with drafting, filing, and patent prosecution support work
- Hands-on experience with template-based prosecution work and managing related deadlines
- Exposure to docketing software and USPTO / WIPO systems
- Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience
- Experience with international filings/communicating with foreign associates

SUMMARY:
The Tooling Supervisor – Engineer is responsible for all aspects of in-house and external tool tracking, tool and fixture repairs and tool maintenance to ensure that the company objectives are met. The Tooling Supervisor- Engineer will interface between Spectrum Plastics Minneapolis location and external tooling suppliers. This position will be accountable for tracking and meeting all agreed upon tool delivery dates, costs and maintaining spare components.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Actively promote and drive a culture of safety within Spectrum Plastics Group.
- Responsible for tooling P&L, adhere to tool delivery dates and quality of work for all Spectrum MN tooling transactions.

- Provide Application and NPI DFM analysis
- Manage and track all tool cleanings, repairs, PM’s, refurbishments, and spare parts.
