Job Summary
PetSmartβs Professional Bather is responsible for engaging with pet parents and their pets while providing positive experiences, salon specific services and upholding the companyβs vision, mission, values, and strategy. This role also shares responsibility of store cleanliness, recommending of solutions for pet parents, and pet safety standards.Β Β
Essential Responsibilities
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following and may vary depending on store characteristics and needs:Β
- Successful completion of PetSmartβs Splash training and safety certification program.Β
- Responsible for the pet parent experience and outcomes conducted in person, over the phone and at the sales register.Β
- Greets pet parents, answers their questions and assists with making reservations in the salon.Β
- Responsible for check-in and check-out procedures.Β
- Independently performs full menu of bath and brush services and standalone services, such as nail trims, teeth brushing, and sanitary services, as well as standalone services for cats*, in accordance with PetSmartβs bathing standards and procedures.Β
- Shares additional health and wellness solutions with pet parents based on petβs needs.Β
- Ensures a safe environment for our associates, pets, and pet parents.Β
- Responsible for taking immediate action when a sick/injured pet is identified in the store; transport to the vet as needed.Β
- Recommends, informs, and sells merchandise and services.Β
- Maintains total store cleanliness standards.Β
- Assists and works in other departments as required. Other duties may be assigned.Β
- Participates in our culture of Belonging and Recognition.Β Β Β
- Follows all Company Policies and Procedures.Β
*Providing standalone grooming services for cats is required for associates hired on or after March 2nd, 2026. Associates hired prior to this date may elect to be trained in cat grooming, once trained, cat grooming becomes an essential function of the role.Β
QualificationsΒ
- Proficiency in computer applications.Β
- Ability to react under pressure and maintain composure.Β Β
- Flexibility in schedule, able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as neededΒ
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and safety measures.Β Β
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.Β
Essential physical demands and work environment
- Associate required to stand, walk, climb a ladder, and use hands to handle, feel, hold, write, etc. The associate frequently is required to reach with hands and arms: stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear.
