The Surgery Technician supports surgeons and the related patient care of surgical cases. The surgery team is a dynamic group within an ER and Specialty Hospital that has a busy caseload of elective and emergency procedures. The Surgery Technician assists with various surgeries including soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and other advanced surgeries.

- Basic instrument/pack preparation and knowledge of steam/gas sterilization
- Preparation of lab samples
- Maintain a legal record of significant events and enhance recognition of trends in monitored variables
- Record all drugs administered to patient, noting the dose, time, and route of administration
- Record monitored variables on a regular basis (every 5 minutes) during anesthesia
- Computer input into a patient’s file
- Inspect the anesthesia machine, endotracheal tubes, and other anesthesia equipment before and after use assuring that the anesthetic machine and equipment are in proper working order
- Equipment troubleshooting: IV pumps, surgivet, Doppler, anesthesia machine, pulse ox
- Excellent communication skills with coworkers and with clients
- Plan procedures with other departments
- Train new hires, interns and externs
