ChristianaCare  is seeking Registered Nurses for our Emergency Per Diem Pool.­ Candidate should be flexible to work at Christiana Hospital, Wilmington Hospital and Middletown Emergency Departments as required by business need.

What to Expect:

Pay rates are based upon the amount of hours you commit to on a monthly basis. You may sign up for 36-hour, 60-hour, and 84-hour commitments in 4 weeks blocks.

Requirements:

  • Commitment to obtaining BSN within three years of date of hire can be considered with relevant experience.

  • 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience in an Acute Care setting required. Emergency Department experience is strongly preferred.

Christiana Hospital is currently recruiting for Registered Nurse II to support our Surgical Observation Unit. The Surgical Obs nurse selected will be expected to train in Prep and Holding, PACU Phase II, and Surgical Observation.  They will also assume responsibility and accountability for adult patients, admitted for observation and inpatient admission awaiting bed availability following a surgical procedure. Patients may require a level of care up to and including centralized cardiac monitoring and pulse oximetry monitoring. Deliver care using the nursing process in collaboration with other healthcare team members.

Detailed responsibilities:

Performs and documents accurate clinical assessments of patients on admission and throughout hospital stay according to established standards.  Assesses the need for referrals for discharge planning.

Identifies actual and potential problems for which the patient is at risk.

Initiates follow and modifies a nursing plan of care based on assessment and diagnosis.

Assesses and documents patient response to interventions.

Individualizes guiding methods to best suit patients and their family learning needs and abilities.  Revises educational plans to meet needs as they change.

Encourages patient/family participation in the discharge process and informed decision-making.  

Coordinates medications safely and optimally.

Responds optimally to patient crisis situations as outlined in unit-specific standards.

Initiates and participates in team meetings and interdisciplinary discussions regarding patient care or practice.  Elicits input from other team members.  Hand-offs are accurate and include the patient or family’s input to ensure concerns or needs are being addressed.

Demonstrates skills and knowledge vital to delivering care to patients 16 years of age and older. This includes knowledge of growth and development as well as the ability to acquire and interpret information to identify patient needs and to provide equivalent care.

Establishes and maintains a sound knowledge base of nursing care vital for the specific patient population.  Shares clinical knowledge through mentoring of others.

Apply effective verbal and written communication skills with patients, families, co-workers, management, physicians, and ancillary department staff.  

Optimally delegate duties and tasks to other nursing staff after assessment of capability and scope of responsibilities.  

Encourages each team member’s contributions.

The ChristianaCare Nurse Residency Program is accredited with distinction as a Practice Transition Program by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation in Practice Transition Programs.

Research demonstrates that new to practice nurses completing a structured and accredited residency program leads to:

Therefore, we are committed to supporting all registered nurses with under one year of experience through a nurse residency specialty track.

This exciting curriculum integrates:

  • Lecture and simulation education

The progressive care nurse resident will complete preceptor-led training on our intermediate or transitional level step-down units at our Newark or Wilmington campuses. The nurse resident completes preceptor-led training followed by continued residency meetings during months 6, 8, 10, and 12 to further develop as professional nurses and integral member of our caregiver team.

Upon completion of this program, participants will have built a strong foundation for nursing practice in a fast-paced, challenging environment, bridging care for medically complex patients outside of the Intensive Care Unit.

Nurse residents are required to pass State Boards and be licensed as a RN in the State of Delaware (or compact state) prior to starting position. Upon hire, a commitment agreement to work at the ChristianaCare will be signed. The agreement requires completion of a two years with the requirement to remain on the unit of hire for a minimum of 15 months. Individuals unable to fill this commitment will be charged $10,000.

In this role, the Assistant Nurse Manager will assist the Nurse Manager in the clinical and administrative activities of the department in order to ensure patients the provision of quality care. Requirements:

  • Completion of ARRT registry required. (Successful completion of the MRI Registry exam is a job requirement.  A technologist who is recruited and non-certified in MRI will have a grace period of 2 years following hire to pass this exam).
  • Completion of a 2 year associates degree program in Radiology.
  • 2 years’ experience as an MRI Technologist preferred
  • Experience with Siemens products preferred
