Registered Nurse (RN) will work in our outpatient Infusion Centers providing holistic, quality nursing care for patients/families and/or others for a patient population within the Infusion Centers. Responsibilities include but, are not limited to the following:Β 

β€’ Demonstrates excellent ability to perform patient assessments, and provide symptom management as well as patient and family education.
β€’ Practices safe administration of chemotherapy/biotherapy, infusions, injections, and transfusions.
β€’ Acts as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care throughout various stages of treatment and follow-up including, but not exclusive to: providers, social work, dietician, integrative medicine, pharmacy, navigators, laboratory, radiation therapy, genetics, and clinical research.
β€’ Collaborate with provider offices to schedule patients for infusion visits.
β€’ Triage of patients through use of pathways and collaboration with physicians for toxicities, symptom management and needs for referrals within the RN scope of practice.
β€’ Manage a caseload of patients receiving a variety of infusion and oral therapies on an outpatient basis.
β€’ Demonstrates high level skills to manage complex workload effectively to provide safest, high quality care.
β€’Demonstrates an excellent ability to communicate through various methods and with various audiences to achieve desired outcome(s).
β€’Participates and engages in continuous professional development, safety behaviors and focus on the patient experience.
β€’ Participates in the implementation of clinical support programs to ensure optimal care throughout the health-care continuum

Our Labor and Delivery unit is a high risk referral center for the area and performs approximately 4,000 deliveries per year. Our Obstetric Triage unit evaluates more than 3,000 patients per year. As the volume and acuity of our patients has grown, we are looking to bolster our inpatient obstetric service with 24/7 APP coverage.Β Β 

Strong clinical reasoning and excellent communication skills required. This role functions both independently and in collaboration with nurses, residents, and attending physicians. Β This position will report to the OB/GYN Hospitalist Director.Β

Advanced Practitioner Role Scope:β€―β€―β€―β€―Β 

  • Care for patients admitted or being triaged across our Obstetric service line.Β 

  • Help on Labor and Delivery with admissions, magnesium sulfate checks and labor checks when residents unavailable, during sign-out and periods of higher volume.Β 

  • Rounding and evaluating our antepartum patients as needed based on volume and resident coverage.Β  Evaluation may include concerns for labor, elevated BP’s, infection or medication orders. Help with biophysical profiles (BPP’s) for non-reactive NST’s and limited obstetric ultrasoundΒ Β 

  • Typical postpartum care includes rounding, discharge planning, coordination of inpatient consults, responding to elevated blood pressures, postpartum or postoperative concerns, medication reconciliation and placement of Nexplanon.Β Β 

  • If needed in triage you will evaluate pregnant patients for pre-term/term labor, rupture of membranes, bleeding, high blood pressure, pre-eclampsia, abdominal pain and a variety of other complaints. There is always an attending assigned to cover our service serving as backup to the residents and APP’s.

Schedule: Β 3 – 13.3 hour shifts per week (day and night rotation); night/weekend shift differentials apply.

The Float Pool at Hartford Hospital, also known as the STAR Team, is comprised of experienced, highly skilled Nursing professionals. The Surgical-Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a 14-bed unit. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, the mainstream patient population includes motor vehicle trauma, orthopedic injuries, vascular surgical, abdominal surgical, liver and kidney transplant, and extensive esophagectomy patients. Under the supervision of the rounding Surgical-Trauma Intensivist, the unit has a team of Physician Assistants, Advanced Practice Registered Nurses, Registered Nurses and surgical house staff physicians consisting of interns and residents.

Job Summary

The Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. This position supervises a work group to ensure that a high quality, cost-effective patient and family centered care is provided in support of the hospital's strategic plan, and the function's goals and objectives.

This position works collaboratively with functional leadership and is responsible for the oversight of daily operations of the assigned department including off shift and weekend supervision of nursing and non-licensed staff. This position manages resources, quality improvement, payroll, creating and maintaining colleague schedules and monitors patient throughput to facilitate efficient clinical operations. In addition, this position is responsible for a safe and therapeutic unit environment, which includes working in the department as staff RN to assist as needed.

This position supports leadership in ensuring standards of excellence and professional development are fostered and met. This position also participates in and may lead Performance Improvement work in their assigned department.

RN Bridge Program


A Medicine-to-ED Bridge Program has been established to provide nurses with potential future interest in working in an Emergency Department an opportunity to first build foundational nursing skills and knowledge within one of our Medicine units.Β  Upon completion of orientation on a Medicine unit, and successfully demonstrating competence in practice for the first 12 months, the RN will then begin a gradual transition to the ED setting with support of leadership from both the Medicine and ED teams.


Program components:



  • Creation of individualized development plan with managers of both Medicine unit and ED to track goals and progress
  • Collaborative coaching sessions with each RN and managers of both units at regular intervals through the program
  • Experienced RNs from both the Medicine unit and the ED assigned as mentors
  • Transitional orientation to care for inpatients in the Emergency Department
  • After completing each step of the bridge program, RNs will be evaluated for readiness to transition fully to the ED

Job Summary
Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient-centered care model in a richly diverse work space. Job Summary


CB2Β serves the medical oncology population of the organization and commonly includes: solid tumor cancer patients, hematological cancer patients, acute leukemia and lymphoma patients, and benign hematology patients, along with the provision of hospice and end of life care.Β  The unit also services the needs of a variety of med-surg overflow patients when necessary and appropriate.



Our Nurses work in collaborative environments with strong interdisciplinary teams, focused on a patient centered care model in a richly diverse work space. Under the direction and general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse utilizes evidence based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital and as directed by the medical staff. The registered nurse who through knowledge and ability uses the nursing process to develop a plan of care which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family.



Qualifications


  • Current Connecticut RN License.
  • Graduate of an accredited nursing school
  • ASN Required (Must obtain a BSN within 6 years of starting in the RN role)
  • BSN preferred.
  • BLS certification by the American Heart Association required prior to date of hire.
