The staff includes Registered Nurses, Nurse Assistants, Administrative Support Staff, with attending Physicians and Mid-level providers available 24-7. Our unit is equipped with the highest levels of technology including Electronic Medical Records.

St. Vincent’s Behavioral Health Center in Westport is a 76-bed inpatient psychiatric facility specializing in care for children, adolescents, and adults with mental health and dual diagnosis substance use disorders.  St. Vincent’s Medical Center is the first hospital in Fairfield County to be integrated into the Hartford HealthCare network, and part of one of the largest providers of mental health services at several locations in Connecticut.



Job Summary:



Provides temporary practice, pending results of the licensing examination for a period not to exceed 90 calendar days after the date of graduation. This temporary practice privilege automatically ceases upon notification that the graduate nurse has failed the licensure examination or once the 90 calendar days after the date of graduation has past and required licensing is still pending.



Provides holistic, quality and cost-effective nursing care for patients/families and/or others for a patient population within a unit, service or other primary area of practice with an awareness of the episode of care.  Applies the nursing process within the context of the organization's Framework for Professional Practice.  Practices under the supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse.  Reports to Unit Manager.



Qualifications

RN Bridge Program


A Medicine-to-ED Bridge Program has been established to provide nurses with potential future interest in working in an Emergency Department an opportunity to first build foundational nursing skills and knowledge within one of our Medicine units.  Upon completion of orientation on a Medicine unit, and successfully demonstrating competence in practice for the first 12 months, the RN will then begin a gradual transition to the ED setting with support of leadership from both the Medicine and ED teams.


Program components:



  • Creation of individualized development plan with managers of both Medicine unit and ED to track goals and progress
  • Collaborative coaching sessions with each RN and managers of both units at regular intervals through the program
  • Experienced RNs from both the Medicine unit and the ED assigned as mentors
  • Transitional orientation to care for inpatients in the Emergency Department
  • After completing each step of the bridge program, RNs will be evaluated for readiness to transition fully to the ED

Job Summary

The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees. This is a nurse residency position that upon hire or transfer into the program the nurse commits to a full time learning opportunity.  This program prepares the nurse for an operating room staff nurse position as well as forms the foundation required to successfully take pass the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) certification program. The program commences with a six month AORN, Periop 101 on line didactic program consisting of 27 modules, followed by a 3-5 month clinical orientation. The nurse will be assigned to a nurse educator and preceptor and earn 41.7 CEUs for completion of the online program.  Upon completion the nurse will be offered a full time position at either Manchester Memorial Hospital or Rockville General Hospital. A commitment to the Operating Room will be required for two years.

 The candidate must be willing to undergo a rigorous application process that consists of surgeon, manager, nursing education and staff interviews, observation day and letters of recommendation.  The candidate must be willing to take and pass the Certified Registered Operating Nurse (CNOR) certification exam within six months from residency completion.

Utilizing the nursing process, provides high quality direct and indirect patient –centered care. Coordinates patient care by working collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team, patients and families. Communicates, as appropriate, the patient’s clinical condition, responding quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.  Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate care to the patient population served.  Promotes the profession of nursing and professional practice through collegial support and interactions. The Surgical-Trauma Intensive Care Unit is a 14-bed unit. As a Level 1 Trauma Center, the mainstream patient population includes motor vehicle trauma, orthopedic injuries, vascular surgical, abdominal surgical, liver and kidney transplant, and extensive esophagectomy patients. Job Summary

The Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse (RN) who has responsibility for the supervision of patient care, clinical personnel, and unit operations. Position Description:


The OR Nurse functions as Circulator/Scrub Nurse in the Operating Room. Organizes and administers individualized, professional patient care to patients within the Operating Room. The Neuro Operating Room (OR) team provides highly specialized care for patients undergoing neuro and spine surgeries. Conditions treated include brain tumors, vascular malformations, essential tremors, degenerative spine disease, chronic back pain, neuro/spine trauma, spinal cord injuries, infections, hydrocephalus, and complications from acute stroke. Nurses play a critical role in delivering this specialized care, ensuring patient safety and well-being throughout these complex procedures.
