We are seeking a Senior Splunk Enterprise Security Engineer to join our Security Engineering & Architecture team in Irving, TX. In this high-impact individual contributor role, you will own the deployment, optimization, and day-to-day administration of our Splunk Enterprise Security (ES) platform across a cloud-based environment supporting one of the largest retail operations in the country.
You will be the go-to subject matter expert for Splunk ES, partnering with SOC analysts, threat intelligence teams, compliance stakeholders, and IT leadership to ensure our security monitoring platform delivers maximum visibility, reliability, and value. This is a hands-on, technically deep role for someone who thrives in complex, high-volume environments and takes pride in building resilient security infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the end-to-end administration of Splunk Enterprise Security across a cloud-hosted (AWS/Azure/GCP) deployment, including architecture decisions, capacity planning, performance tuning, and version upgrades.
- Design, implement, and maintain ES frameworks including notable event configurations, risk-based alerting, asset and identity correlation, and threat intelligence integrations.

- Assist in Labs’ operations as directed by Nurse Manager or other delegated authority. Such duties may include but are not limited to inventory management, accounting and marketing.
- Report immediately to Nurse Manager any clinical, equipment, or business issues that arise during operations that are unusual, hazardous, disruptive, or that require corrective actions.

- Coordinates testing of network design for redundancy, resiliency and capacity.
- Performs firewall implementation and administration as needed based on requests and required maintenance.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware, software interconnection, and interfaces such as routers, firewalls, switches, gateways, and related functions.
- Coordinates with various teams and manages schedules.
- Ensures adherence to quality standards, and provides technical guidance to team members and contractors.

Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, with 8 years of experience in an enterprise support role and relevant experience with software or appliances used in network systems.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Strongly prefer CCNP certification
- Requires deep knowledge of TCP/IP routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF and BGP.
- Requires knowledge of network virtualization, and automation such as ACI, NFV and SDN
- Work requires scripting languages such as PERL or Python; and automation tools like Ansible, Puppet
- Requires of Internet routing, firewalls and VPN.

Overview
The IT Architect II is responsible for design of IT systems including system infrastructure, system security, application architecture, software and data life cycle management. Provides enterprise architectural framework for the design, development, and deployment of information/business systems. Proactively drives the prioritization of key technology enablers for achieving enterprise level system objectives while ensuring scalability, reliability, and availability of implemented systems. Provides leadership and expertise to evaluate planned platform growth, increasingly demanding enterprise service level requirements in order to identify, design, and implement technology solutions that exceed expectations.
This role requires excellent collaboration and communication skills to translate complex requirements into functional architecture.

Experience
- 10+ years of experience in large corporate systems environments working with complex IT systems.
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in infrastructure engineering, software development, system administration, system architecture, application architecture or data system architecture.
- Minimum Four (4) years of hands-on experience with system or application performance modeling and tuning.
Certifications:
- TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework) certification is preferred.
