Clinical Role and Responsibilities:

  • Perform inpatient and emergency department geriatrics consultations in alignment with the mission of the service

  • Preoperative and postoperative management of medical conditions in orthopedic patients in collaboration with the orthopedic team

  • Evaluate and manage consults addressing the key Geriatric Syndromes including, but not limited to, falls, delirium, impaired mobility, impaired cognition, elder abuse, multi-morbidity, delirium, and complex goals of care in patients >65 years old.

  • Work collaboratively within a combined physician/ advanced practice provider consult team, as well as maintain close coordination with the Palliative Care, Neurology, and Psychiatry consultant teams also serving this vulnerable population

  • Actively participate in the training of fellows, house staff, medical students, and other learners rotating through the service; contribute to fulfillment of the established curriculum

  • Work to develop and maintain individual and service consult volume through collaboration with primary surgical, internal medicine, and emergency medicine teams

  • Weekend call will be equal and commensurate

Quality and Metrics:

  • Participate in quality improvement activities to evaluate the quality of the services provided based on defined outcomes (eg time to consult completion, effect on length of stay, advance care planning compliance)

  • Maintain appropriate billing and documentation consistent with the standards of the Division and the Institution

  • Support faculty and fellows who volunteer to help staff the East Harlem Outreach Partnership, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s student-run free clinic that provides primary care and reproductive health services to uninsured adults in the neighborhood.

Responsibilities

  • Delivers exceptional primary pediatric care 
  • Delivers primary care to children through both traditional face-to-face visits and non-visit-based interactions (e.g. phone, digital messaging, and video chat) to a physician-specific population of practice members, including children from birth to age 18 
  • Uses outstanding communication skills to assist patients and families in understanding diagnostic tests and treatments, help patients and families navigate all aspects of care, and facilitate patient and family preparation for specialty medical appointments
  • Initiates timely referrals to specialty services and ensures close, regular bi-directional communication with specialists to promote continuity of care. 
  • Provides concierge-level service at all times, with 24/7 availability by phone to a dedicated patient panel and advocacy for patients within the broader health care system
  • Carries out other appropriate professional duties when necessary, including liaison with outside medical consultants, hospitalists, and emergency room providers to ensure appropriateness, timeliness and continuity of care and an excellent patient experience

The Section of Pediatric Radiology in the Department of Radiology of the Mount Sinai Health System and the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai is seeking a fellowship trained, Board Certified or Eligible Pediatric Radiologist, with a CAQ/MOC to provide multi-modality imaging services based at Mount Sinai Hospital with a hybrid in house/virtual arrangement.

Pediatric patients receiving care at Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital are served by the general Pediatric Radiologists, as well as by subspecialists in Nuclear Medicine, Neuroradiology, MSK, and Interventional Radiology. Patients with complex medical and surgical problems are cared for daily with the imaging choices and protocols designed to best serve the patients with the least discomfort and the least radiation exposure using state-of-the-art equipment.

The Pediatric Radiology faculty participates in the formal and informal teaching of Radiology Residents from the Mount Sinai Health System, Medical Students at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Pediatric Residents from the Mount Sinai Kravis Children’s Hospital. The faculty regularly participates in a multitude of conferences including morning report, weekly Pediatric Radiology noon conferences, Hematology/Oncology/Radiology Conference, Pulmonary Conference, NICU, PICU, and monthly Multidisciplinary Liver/GI Conference, Pediatric Surgical Conference, and Pediatric Tumor Board. Clinical research and other academic pursuits are encouraged. There are many opportunities for research, mentorship and personal growth. Mount Sinai Hospital and Kravis Children’s Hospital are located in the prestigious Upper Eastside of Manhattan overlooking Central Park in close proximity to a wealth of educational and cultural activities offered by the city of New York.
