About the Role

We are seeking an Electric Drives Lab Engineer to support testing and validation of power electronics used in locomotives and mining systems. This role will focus on setting up validation tests, executing lab testing, and analyzing test data for new product introductions (NPI) and second-source power electronic components.

The reliability and performance of our power electronics systems are critical to maintaining industry leadership in locomotive and mining technology.

Key Responsibilities

Test Development & Setup

• Develop and set up test environments in the Erie Power Electronics Lab.
• Design and develop test plans, procedures, and fixtures for new and existing power electronic products.
• Support testing for components including:
• IGBTs
• GTOs
• Inverter Assemblies
• Sensors
• Bus Bars
• Cold Plates
• Transformers

Test Execution

• Conduct functional, environmental, and reliability testing of power electronic components and systems.
• Operate and utilize lab testing equipment such as:
• Oscilloscopes
• Multimeters
• Probes

Data Analysis & Reporting

• Collect and analyze test data using LabVIEW, MATLAB, and Excel.
• Identify performance trends and potential issues in test results.

• Weekly progress reports to Component Engineers.
• Daily sync meetings with the Lab Lead to discuss progress and resolve roadblocks.

Key Responsibilities Provide technical direction in areas such as reactor and fluid systems design, reactor physics, materials development, component design for steam generators, pumps, and valves, instrumentation and control for reactor and propulsion plants, testing and quality control, radiation shielding, and chemistry and radiological controls; review designs and analyses from laboratories, shipyards, and industry partners; coordinate with fleet units to ensure safe and reliable nuclear plant operation.
