Summary
The people and technology that power our Group business work in the Employee Benefit Solutions Technology (EBST) organization within Enterprise Technology. As a member of the Partner Data Exchange (PDX) team, you will help design, build, and support systems that enable how Securian exchanges critical employee and client data with internal platforms, external partners, and administrators.
PDX plays a key role in the end to end client experience by ensuring that eligibility, enrollment, and coverage data is accurate, timely, and reliable. The systems supported by this team directly influence how easily clients onboard, how effectively partners integrate, and how confidently downstream teams can serve our Employee Benefits Solutions (EBS) customers.
This role is well suited for an engineer who is eager to grow technical skills, learn complex domains, and contribute to high impact systems in a collaborative, agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and support of systems that ingest, validate, transform, and distribute client and employee data
- Learn and apply best practices for building and consuming RESTbased APIs that support internal platforms and external partners
- Support both filebased and APIdriven data exchange solutions, with guidance from senior engineers
- Develop an understanding of how data quality, timeliness, and system behavior impact the client and administrator experience
- Assist with enhancements and defect resolution in existing systems, including batch processing and integrations
- Participate in production support activities and incident triage, using monitoring tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk
- Collaborate with product owners, analysts, and other engineers to deliver incremental improvements aligned to business priorities
- Follow established engineering standards for code quality, testing, security, and deployment
Required Qualifications
- Experience developing software using Java and familiarity with Spring Boot or similar frameworks
- Basic understanding of RESTful APIs and web services
- Exposure to batch processing, integrations, or applications that ingest and process large volumes of operational data
- Familiarity with Git/GitHub and modern development workflows
- Willingness to learn and work within a complex domain involving customer and employee data
- Ability to troubleshoot issues, ask questions, and incorporate feedback through code reviews and collaboration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrates accountability, curiosity, and a desire to grow technical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to relational databases such as SQL Server
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS preferred)

In our petrochemical facility we produce synthetic rubber from monomer feedstocks and catalysts, through a polymerization reaction.
The product, after other operations, is carefully weighed and pressed into uniform bales before shipping to the next Michelin factory for tire production.
Our facility supplies various rubber products that go into tires in the USA, Canada, and in Michelin factories around the world. Our site is one of the three Michelin petrochemical sites producing synthetic rubber for cars, vans, trucks, two-wheelers, aircraft, agricultural tractors, and mining equipment.

The Blum Center for Developing Economies at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified instructors and invites applications to teach courses in the area of Development Engineering. In addition to core DevEng classes (DevEng 200, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206), new classes may be planned based upon student interest and candidate expertise. Leads the St Joseph Manufacturing Engineering, Operational Excellence and Maintenance teams to support and lead the development and optimization the manufacturing processes across the St. Joseph campus. This multi-faceted role will provide leadership and overall direction for technical aspects of both the St. Joseph Assembly Plant and our Distribution center. This will be a key role to drive operational improvements elevating performance and consistency to ensure global competitiveness is achieved and maintained. This role is about more than efficiency — it’s about transformation. You’ll drive alignment across 2 sites, break down barriers, and embed a culture of continuous improvement and data-driven decision-making. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with deep technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and automation systems, and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced production environment.
How you will do it
Technical Oversight
- Develop and Implement strategies to improve manufacturing processes ensuring quality, cost effectiveness, and efficiency in our operation.
- Coach the technical teams on problem solving when applicable and lead problem solving teams when required.
- Drive the consistent implementation of the US/CAN Manufacturing Operating system across St. Joseph partnering with other sites and regional teams ensuring best practices are followed.

- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Demonstrated experience managing water/wastewater projects from planning through design and into construction, including responsibility for schedule and budget.
- Strong technical skills in water/wastewater treatment processes, pumping facilities, and collection/distribution systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to lead client meetings and prepare clear technical reports and presentations.
Preferred Experience
- 10–15 years of experience in municipal water/wastewater consulting, with an emphasis on treatment plant projects.
- Direct experience working with Hampton Roads and Virginia municipal/utility clients and familiarity with regional permitting and regulatory requirements.
- Prior responsibility for project financial performance, staff management/mentorship, and pursuit strategy on key water/wastewater projects.
