At the lab school of Smith College, hands-on learning sparks intellectual engagement, research findings inform modern methods, and transformative relationships enrich masterful teaching. We are a progressive Kindergarten through sixth grade elementary school located in the heart of Northampton, MA.
As part of the Campus School teaching team, you will be working alongside the faculty in the Department of Education and Child Study and you will be a member of the staff at Smith College, one of the largest women's colleges in the country, and part of the Five College Consortium including the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Amherst College, Mount Holyoke College and Hampshire College.
In this role you will assume primary responsibility for a 4th, 5th, or 6th classroom. You will participate in accomplishing the work of and maintaining the overall well-being and quality of the school and participate in accomplishing the academic mission of the Campus School of Smith College and the Smith College Department of Education and Child Study.

Essential Functions
Classroom:
Plan and implement a hands-on, interactive curriculum appropriate for your assigned grade level. Teach in a collaborative, in-person environment. Complete written progress reports, conduct conferences with parents, and communicate students' progress and challenges to parents throughout the year. Work closely with teachers, specialists in the school (music, art, Spanish, P.E. and technology teachers; librarian; learning specialist; consulting psychologist) and administrators.
School Wide Responsibilities:
Participate in school wide curriculum development and documentation. Participate in school wide professional development programs/activities. Participate in school and class events (e.g. open house, parent nights, assemblies, graduation). Engage actively in school- and campus-wide activity around Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiatives.
Support the mission of the college and the Department of Education and Child Study:
Work cooperatively with Smith College faculty and students who are conducting research, observing in classrooms or carrying out practicum assignments in classrooms and participate in courses taught by the Department of Education and Child Study. Other related responsibilities as may be assigned by the Campus School administration.

Bachelor's degree and teacher licensure plus substantive classroom experience of at least 5+ years (MA teacher licensure strongly preferred) or an equivalent combination.

Annual base salary for newly appointed BPAs varies per grade, as follows: GL-5/GL-7 $51,632 - $92,219 per year. Border Patrol Agents are eligible to select from an array of federal employment benefits that include health, dental and other insurance plans, a generous annual and sick leave program, and participation in the Thrift Savings Plan, a retirement plan akin to a traditional ROTH 401(k) offering.
*Recruitment Incentive* Newly appointed Border Patrol Agents (as defined in 5 CFR 575.102) will be eligible for up to $20,000 in incentives. The first $10,000 will be paid upon successful completion of the Border Patrol Academy, with the remaining $10,000 awarded for accepting a prioritized location such as Sierra Blanca, Presidio, Sanderson, Comstock, Freer or Hebbronville, TX; Lordsburg, NM; or Ajo, AZ.

Duties and Responsibilities
As a BPA, you will be part of our 60,000+ workforce that strives to protect the American people by safeguarding our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing the nation’s economic prosperity. Being a BPA makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Officer (LEO) profession.
Typical assignments include:
- Detecting and questioning people suspected of violating immigration and custom laws and inspecting documents and possessions to determine citizenship or violations
- Preventing and apprehending undocumented noncitizens and smugglers of noncitizens at or near the borders by maintaining surveillance from covert positions to include using infrared scopes during night operations
- Interpreting and following tracks, marks, and other physical evidence of illegal entry of persons or contraband
- Performing farm checks, building checks, traffic checks, city patrols, and transportation checks
- Patrolling the international boundary and coastal waterways using a variety of government assets such as vehicles, horses, vessels, watercraft, off-road vehicles, ATVs, snowmobiles, and motorcycles for the accomplishment of the USBP Mission.
Qualifications
You qualify for the GL-5 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One (1) year of general work experience that demonstrates the ability to take charge, make sound decisions, and maintain composure in stressful situations; to learn regulations, methods, and techniques through classroom training and/or on-the-job instruction; and the ability to gather concise information through questioning, observation, and examination of documents and records; OR
Education Substitution: A bachelor's degree or successful completion of a full four-year course of study in any field leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; OR
Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of general work experience AND successfully completed college education. This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.
You qualify for the GL-7 grade level if you possess one of the following:
Experience: One year of specialized work experience that shows you have the skills necessary to:
- Make sound judgments and decisions in the use of firearms.
- Deal effectively with people in a courteous and tactful manner in connection with law enforcement matters.
- Analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions where you will be expected to make arrests after the completion of required training and apply these skills in a law enforcement capacity such as criminal code enforcement, determining violations of laws, correctional or rehabilitation work involving criminal offenders, security, military, etc.
The above experience will be applied in connection with the following: Make arrests and exercise sound judgment in the use of firearms; deal effectively with people in a courteous manner in connection with law enforcement matters; analyze information rapidly and make prompt decisions; or develop and maintain contact with a network of informants.
Education Substitution for the GL-7 grade level: A bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average (i.e., GPA of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0), or (3) honor society membership. Or will receive a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Or one full year of graduate-level education in a field of study related to law enforcement (e.g., criminal justice, homeland security, justice studies, law enforcement, courts and judicial systems, forensic technology, forensic psychology, or corrections and rehabilitation) from an accredited college or university; OR
A Combination of Experience and Education: This will be calculated using your resume and official or unofficial transcripts submitted with your application.

Job DescriptionThe June Program is a 3-week summer program that serves students in grades K-6 at the Campus School of Smith College. The program runs from June 1 - 18, Monday - Friday, from 8:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. This fun and exciting experience offers students the opportunity to participate in various activities on the Smith College Campus. Job Description - Group Leader
Manage and supervise groups of students in grades K-6. Major Gift Fundraising (80%):
- Manage a portfolio of individual major gift prospects in assigned region(s), maintaining frequent personalized contact, often traveling to meet the donors. Qualify, cultivate and solicit donors for funding to meet institutional priorities and specific fundraising goals.
- Design and implement effective and donor-centric strategies to actively engage donors and lead to solicitation.
- Conduct annual gift solicitation for all assigned prospects.
- Work with donors and College leadership to match the priority needs of the College with a donor's philanthropic vision.

- As needed, provide strategic and tactical support to involve the president, vice president, other senior cabinet members, key faculty, and volunteer leadership in developing individual major gift prospect relationships.
- Participate when required, in strategic planning for the president's development travel schedule and review of presidential prospects.
- Produce pre-visit briefing materials, and post-visit follow-up communications and proposal plans.
- Meet or exceed established metrics and goals for visits, solicitations, gifts and other meaningful contact with assigned prospects.
- Promptly record contact reports and carry out other essential follow up activities and ensure accurate documentation of prospect strategies, solicitation plans and contacts and their entry into the college's prospect management system.

- Master's degree preferred.
- Experience in higher education, particularly within a women's liberal arts college, is preferred, as is experience working with alumni, parents and families, and volunteer and academic leadership.

Under the direction of the Director of Engagement Programs, Alumnae Leadership and Career Engagement, the Assistant Director leads the project management, event coordination, and administrative implementation of Smith College's alum leadership and career engagement program. The role is responsible for end-to-end execution of approved programs, including workshops, webinars, and the Alum Career Coaches program, as well as serving as the lead project manager for the Reunion Student Program during the spring season. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with alums, volunteers, student workers, departmental colleagues, and cross-campus partners to ensure high-quality, consistent delivery of programs and communications. The role manages student workers, supports volunteer engagement and stewardship for the career program, maintains processes and documentation, and provides operational data and reporting to inform strategy. The Assistant Director role models excellent service as a representative of the College and supports Smith's commitment to a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment.

Essential Functions
Program Administration and Implementation (40%):
- The Assistant Director for Alumnae Leadership and Career Engagement oversees the successful administration of career workshops, webinars, and related resources in collaboration with Alumnae Relations & Development colleagues and campus partners.
- They enact the operational tasks necessary to move program delivery forward, including Zoom meeting and webinar setup, technical support during sessions, scheduling, preparation of materials, and post-program follow-up communications.
- They coordinate logistics and communications with campus partners and vendors as needed to support program execution and delegate and oversee tasks assigned to fellow staff or student interns supporting workshops, webinars, documentation, and follow-up; provide training, supervision, and quality control.
- The Assistant Director is responsible for maintaining accurate and current process documentation, templates, and preparation materials for program offerings; identifying opportunities for incremental improvements to existing systems.
- They are responsible for supporting volunteer management for the Alum Career Coaches program by coordinating intake of new coaches, maintaining accurate records, and aligning coaches with workshops and program needs.
Project Management (30%):
- The Assistant Director will lead project management for the Alumnae Leadership and Career Engagement program under the direction of the Director.
- Programming includes a webinar series, career coaching, digital resources, events and other engagement opportunities.
- Project planning includes timeline, tasks, budget, and human resources needed for each.
- The Assistant Director will be expected to maintain master project plans, developing and maintaining work-back schedules and task assignments required to deliver approved programs.
- Coordinating with ARD Communications and other colleagues to ensure promotional planning and monthly alignment of social media and other communications priorities.
- Coordinate preparation for volunteer and coach meetings, including agendas, briefing materials, and documentation, and share synthesized feedback gathered from surveys and other available data streams with the Director to inform planning.
Seasonal Reunion Student Program Responsibilities (15%):
- The Assistant Director serves as the project manager and lead for the Reunion Student Program (RSP), and is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of student hiring at Reunion.
- For this work, the Assistant Director of Alumnae Career Programs maintains a dotted-line supervisory relationship with the Director of Alumnae Engagement, whose team has primary responsibility for the overall Reunion program.
- In this capacity, the Director of Alumnae Engagement provides consultation and guidance to ensure that the Reunion Student Program is in alignment with Reunion timelines, priorities, and overall strategy.
- This structure is intended to support clarity, coordination, and effective collaboration across teams, and does not replace primary supervisory responsibility which remains with the Director of Alumnae Leadership and Career Engagement.
- The Assistant Director will coordinate hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision of student employees supporting Reunion programming, including maintaining timelines, workflows, and communications related to RSP and partnering with administrative staff and campus colleagues to ensure successful execution.
- During the Reunion planning and execution period, this work is prioritized and other responsibilities scaled back to make space.
Data, Reporting, and Quality Control (10%):
- The Assistant Director will ensure accurate collection and consolidation of participation data, survey results, and operational metrics related to the program.
- They will compile and distill data produced by colleagues (e.g., Communications, assessment partners, survey tools) into concise operational reports for the Director.
- They will monitor consistency and quality of the participant experience across programs and recommend operational adjustments to improve delivery.
Other Functions (5%):
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
- Participate in team meetings, task forces and committees as required.
- Back up other staff needs as necessary.
- Perform related duties as required.

Job DescriptionPrimary Function:
Responsible for assisting in administering a complete health and safety program for Smith College precollege program students and staff consistent with Smith College, and the Precollege Health Care Plan approved by local medical practice. This is a 6-week position, running June 24 - August 2, 2026, with part-time work for the first two weeks and 35-40 hours per week for the remaining four weeks. Evening and weekend coverage is required. The hourly rate ranges from $17-$20 and is commensurate with experience.
Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure the health and safety of precollege students and staff following established program policies and procedures and the Center for Disease Control. Create and maintain an emotionally and physically safe health service environment for students and staff.
- Maintain Health Forms and other health-related documents through SchoolDoc for students and staff. Log all treatment to students and staff daily. Uphold patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Perform first aid and dispense OTC medications under the guidance of the signed Standing Orders or original prescription mandate.
- Pass pertinent student health information to the appropriate staff before student arrival and as needed throughout the program.
- Ensure that all prescriptions and medicines are properly labeled and locked in the medicine cabinet or refrigerator.
- Maintain first aid kits and logs for on campus, field trips and any other location that is deemed necessary and appropriate, with weekly upkeep and replenishment.
- Maintain clear communication with other health team members and the Health Supervisor.
- Adhere to practices in completing incident reports.
- Facilitate emergency medical issues with initial medical assessment and triage.
- Set a good example for students and staff. Be a positive role model in terms of responsibility, sportsmanship, punctuality, respecting the environment, cleanliness, and manners.
- Participate in staff meetings and training, where applicable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3Nursing Assistant/CNA or EMT required.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification; experience in a medical field; experience in a medical facility preferred.
