Educational Law Attorney
Job Description
We are working with a a growing defense firm, looking for an Educational Law Attorney to join their team. Specifically, they are looking for someone who has 2+ years of Education Law experience.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of education law experience
- 1+ years of litigation experience
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to develop creative solutions to meet client needs
- Impeccable written, verbal and advocacy skills with a high level of attention to detail
- JD from an accredited law school and excellent academic credentials
- Licensed and in good standing in the state of Illinois
Responsibilities:
- Representing families or districts in disputes over Individualized Education Programs and accommodations.
- Handling suspension, expulsion, and harassment cases.
- Advising districts on policy development, liability, and compliance with federal and state laws.
- Managing union negotiations, teacher grievances, and employee contracts.
- Representing parties in court regarding civil rights issues like student speech or search and seizure
The annual salary for this position is between 130k-160k. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
