Position Description

The QA Technician – Manufacturing Logistics provides quality support to third-party logistics and warehousing operations. This role supports warehouse activities including goods receipt, sampling, incoming inspections, and outbound shipping processes to ensure compliance with cGMP requirements.

The QA Technician works closely with warehouse operations, quality, and external partners to maintain quality systems, support investigations, and ensure materials are handled, documented, and released appropriately. This role requires hands-on warehouse support, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Key Objectives / Deliverables

• Perform material sampling activities in accordance with approved GMP sampling plans.
• Ensure all warehouse activities remain compliant with SOPs, cGMP, and quality requirements.
• Execute incoming inspections of materials and components (e.g., components, printed packaging materials).
• Evaluate damaged materials identified during inbound shipments or warehouse handling and determine acceptability.
• Identify, investigate, and assist in resolving shipping and receiving issues (e.g., incorrect quantity, incorrect product, contamination).
• Author and submit supplier complaints and internal quality issues as required.
• Support deviation investigations, including aberrant data investigations.
• Provide quality guidance and recommendations related to materials, utilities, and warehouse processes.
• Review temperature monitoring data and reports; escalate abnormalities as appropriate.
• Perform quality-related transactions within inventory management systems to ensure accurate material status (e.g., released, blocked, quarantined).
• Support recalls, rejections, and returns, as required.
• Conduct gap assessments against global quality requirements and support implementation of governing standards.
• Participate in self-inspection activities and support regulatory inspections and audits.
• Maintain, execute, and review GMP documentation generated during logistics and warehouse operations.
• Manage and maintain the GMP document library.
• Work closely with site stakeholders and external partners to resolve issues and drive continuous process improvement.
• Follow safety procedures, including appropriate PPE use and proper lifting techniques.

In a third-party logistics (3PL) environment, the Logistics Specialist is responsible for planning and coordinating transportation arrangements for clients’ cargo, including domestic deliveries and international shipments (air and sea freight). This role requires close communication with carriers, customs brokers, shipping lines, airlines, and customers to ensure timely, secure, compliant, and cost-effective delivery of goods to designated destinations. The position also involves handling import/export documentation, tracking shipment status, and responding promptly to unforeseen logistics issues to maintain high service quality.

General Responsibilities

• Plan and arrange domestic and international transportation operations, including truck dispatching, air freight, sea freight, and multimodal transport.
• Select and coordinate with appropriate carriers and logistics service providers based on customer requirements and cargo characteristics.
• Track and monitor shipment status through freight portals, TMS, WMS, or ERP systems to ensure real-time visibility and timely delivery.
• Prepare, review, and verify import/export documentation, including Bills of Lading (B/L), Air Waybills (AWB), commercial invoices, and packing lists.
• Coordinate customs clearance activities and ensure compliance with import/export regulations, including HS codes, required certificates, and clearance procedures.
• Actively communicate with customers, freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to resolve shipment issues such as delays, damages, or customs holds.
• Escalate operational issues appropriately and proactively propose solutions to minimize business impact.
• Support logistics cost control, billing reconciliation, and transportation performance tracking (KPIs).
• Continuously improve logistics workflows, shipment tracking processes, and customer service quality.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
• Experience:
• At least 1 year of experience in logistics, freight forwarding, transportation coordination, or 3PL operations.
• Hands-on experience with logistics or freight-forwarder operations, including shipment tracking and carrier coordination.
• Language Skills:
• Business-level English for email communication and shipping documentation.
• Chinese (Mandarin) proficiency required for coordination with stakeholders.

Quality Assurance: Product Inspector (Produce) track:

This internship goes beyond a typical desk job, you’ll be immersed in the core of our supply chain operations. The QA (Produce) Intern plays a hands-on role in inspecting fresh produce and other perishable items to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with Wakefern standards. This position involves physically examining inbound deliveries for grade, freshness, proper labeling, and packaging integrity, as well as monitoring temperatures and verifying weights and counts. Interns will gain first-hand experience with Wakefern’s Food Safety and Quality Practices, USDA and FDA guidelines. Interns will be learning leadership skills mentored by supervisors to understand all skills required in a Quality Assurance Product Inspection department.

What you will do

• Work in a refrigerated warehouse environment.
• Inspects all inbound deliveries to ensure the purchased goods conform to all established product specifications, standards, and grade requirements.
• Performs random organoleptic inspections of inbound goods to assure the quality, grade, and wholesomeness of the product.
• Inspects all inbound deliveries for cleanliness and soundness of the transportation vehicle and the absence of cross contamination.
• Monitors product temperatures by means of physical probing of goods and observation of time and temperature recording devices.
• Verifies the weights and counts of received goods.
• Examines all packaging for proper labeling and enforces all packaging and labeling requirements of the FDA, USDA, and USDC.
• Monitors products in inventory and storage for quality and safety.
• Performs daily sanitation inspections of all applicable facilities and warehouses.

Compensation and Benefits:

First year Wakefern Supply Chain/Logistic Interns will be paid at $18.00 per hour. Master Students and Returning Wakefern Supply Chain/Logistic Interns will be paid at $19.00 per hour. The Warehouse Operations and Logistics Coordinator will perform the assigned duties in the Vacaville Distribution Center (managed by a 3rd party partner) and will be responsible for various activities and reporting related to KUIU Logistics, Warehousing and Quality.

Key Tasks for Warehouse Operations and Logistics Coordinator position

· Report on requested Key Performance Indicators related to KUIU account

• Partner cross-functionally with Customer Service, Sales, Production, Ecommerce, and Accounting.

Projects & Technology

• Partner with IT and Ecommerce teams to optimize WMS, EDI, and shipping platforms
• Improve visibility across inventory, order flow, and shipping performance
• Implement scalable systems to support growth

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in apparel production, operations, or supply chain management (including at least 2 in a leadership capacity).
• Understanding of both domestic and offshore manufacturing, quality assurance, and logistics.
• Proven ability to manage complex calendars, vendor relationships, and large-scale deliveries.
• Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (AS400 and Oracle NetSuite a plus).

Summary:

The Manager Trade Compliance and Logistics ensures the company complies with all applicable import and export laws and regulations while supporting business operations. The initial priority for this role is to evaluate and address the company’s import tariff exposure, ensuring full compliance while minimizing financial and operational impacts.

 Roles and Responsibilities:

•  Ensure compliance with all import and export laws and regulations (CBP, EAR, OFAC, and other participating government agencies).
• Monitor, interpret and communicate changes in trade regulations as well as assessing their impact on the business (duties, tariffs, trade agreements).
• Lead the process to obtain and maintain the Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) Certification for the company.
• Liaise with customs authorities, governmental agencies, and external partners.
• Develop, implement, and maintain trade compliance policies and procedures aligned with national regulations, international requirements, and corporate standards.
• Design and deliver training programs to educate employees on import and export compliance requirements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with procurement, logistics, supply chain, sales administration, and finance to coordinate import and export activities and resolve import and export customs issues.
• Conduct internal audits of import and export transactions and oversight of customs brokers and freight forwarders.
• Screen business partner for integrity and compliance (restricted party and sanctions lists) and perform due diligence checks.
• Support and review the classification of goods for import and export (HTS, ECCN)
• Prepare and maintain documentation required for duty drawback claims.
• Analyze and report logistic costs and import and export data (ACE, AES)
• Support negotiating contracts with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.

Requirements:

• The ability to conduct independent research and interpret complex regulations to provide clear, actionable guidance is essential for success in this role.
• Bachelor’s degree in International Business, International Trade or related field.   
• 4-5 Years of professional experience in import/export compliance, customs operations, or logistics management
• U.S. Licensed Customs Broker – preferred
• NCBFAA Certified Export Specialist – preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication skills for working with internal teams and government agencies.
• German and/or Spanish language skills are a plus
