Kleinfelder is currently seeking an experienced Ecologist/Environmental Scientist to join our growing Tampa, FL office.
Working as part of a team, the successful candidate will assist with ecological field assessments for projects in the mining, energy, and commercial development industries. Primary tasks will include protected species surveys, gopher tortoise relocations, vegetative monitoring, hydrologic monitoring, water quality sampling and support with other ecological assessments, as well as reporting. The ideal candidate should have knowledge of the natural resources of Florida and a minimum of 3 years of applicable job experience.
Candidate should also possess strong time management, problem solving, communication, organizational skills, and have relevant computer/software experience. This position requires solid technical writing and verbal communication skills, including coordination with team members and project managers, as well as periodically with clients and regulatory agency staff.
Candidate must be a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) Gopher Tortoise Authorized Agent (AA) for surveying and mechanical excavation.
Candidate will be required to go through and obtain an MSHA New Miner Training certificate as part of on-the-job training.
This position is anticipated to be 80% field work/20% office work. Travel (local/overnight) may account for up to 30%.
The ability to travel, both within Florida and nationwide, and a clear driving record are also required. Potential candidates should be able to work effectively in both team environments and with limited supervision. Candidates should have availability to work outside of typical business hours. Flexibility in daily work schedule and willingness to work long hours in adverse environmental conditions and in remote areas is required.
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree in the natural resources (i.e. biological, zoology, botany, ecology or environmental science).
- Experience conducting threatened and endangered species surveys per FWC and United States Fish and Wildlife Service survey protocols/guidelines.
- Ability to lead gopher tortoise relocation efforts including mechanical excavation and bucket trapping.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a natural resources professional is required.
- Proficiency in use of Avenza, ESRI Field maps, a sub-meter GPS and data processing is also desired.
- Experience operating a 4x4 truck preferred.

The Director serves as a key member of the manager team, driving operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and cross departmental collaboration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership & Oversight
· Provide direct supervision and strategic guidance to the Facilities & Maintenance Lead and Land Team Supervisor.

What You’ll Do
Energy Management Leadership
- Lead all Energy Management System (EMS) programs for stores, facilities, and corporate locations from design through installation.
- Develop and implement energy‑reduction plans that drive efficiency across facilities and construction projects.
- Recommend policies and strategies focused on energy conservation and long‑term cost savings.
- Provide accurate cost estimates, ROI assessments, and supporting documentation for energy initiatives.
- Manage Electricians, Refrigeration Engineers, and outside vendors to support program execution.
- Coordinate with utility companies to maximize rebate opportunities tied to energy‑efficient installations.
- Use tools such as FacilityIQ or other utility‑based platforms to track, document, and analyze energy usage.
Electrical Construction Management
- Oversee all electrical components of construction projects from design through completion.
- Initiate, evaluate, and prioritize work requests; develop and maintain project schedules.
- Supervise and coordinate team members assigned to electrical projects.
- Prepare scopes of work, proposals, schedules, and negotiate vendor and contractor costs.
- Conduct pre‑bid walk‑throughs and participate in construction and maintenance meetings.
- Inspect work quality, enforce material specifications, and certify completed installations.
Lighting Programs & Technology
- Lead lighting retrofit, replacement, and maintenance programs from initial design through installation.
- Prepare detailed scopes of work and cost estimates for lighting controls and upgrades.
- Review competitive bids, negotiate costs, and award projects.
- Stay current on lighting technology, best practices, and local code requirements.
Document Control & Technical Specifications
- Oversee all electrical construction documents including design, plan check, bidding, and final construction stages.
- Generate punch lists and manage project closeout activities.
- Review and verify As‑Built documentation for accuracy.
- Prepare and update electrical specifications to align with company standards and project needs.
Leadership, Operations & Fiscal Management

What You Bring
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 10+ years of experience in the grocery electrical or related trade fields, including 2+ years of supervisory experience.

Responsibilities:
- Coordinate customer move-ins and move-out; work with construction coordinator on customer space when appropriate and singlehandedly manage smaller scale customer space modifications
- Provide Class A quality and timely customer service while continuously developing and managing on-going projects to improve customer relations, the retail experience and property image
- Responsibly manage office administration to include employee performance management as assigned
- Conduct coordinated effort with parking operations to ensure customer satisfaction is achieved. Provide assistance to Senior Management, Leasing, Marketing and Development as needed.

Lease Administration
- Efficiently and effectively manage commercial and retail lease agreements to ensure customer obligations to ownership are enforced and ownerships obligations to customers are met, as well as checking for general compliance, escalations, monthly charges, renewals, expirations, fees, notification updates, etc., and new amendment content
Property Accounting
- Oversee monthly financial reporting to management to ensure reporting accuracy while using Yardi
- Proactively review operating financial reports, property status reports, capital and customer improvements reports as required to identify any variances and make recommendations for improving the net operating income and cash flow for the project(s)
- Work with the Senior Accountant to produce and provide Owners with monthly, quarterly and annual reporting package
- Handle preparation of operating budgets for the assigned project(s); preparation of annual customer Rent Letter and Year-End Reconciliation (DOE, CAM bill backs and adjustments)
- Oversee utility usage, customer and retailer sub-metering reports and customer bill backs
