PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
Functions as part of the Home Therapies dialysis health care team. Ensures provision of quality home patient care in accordance with company policies, procedures and training. Supports the company’s commitment to the Quality Enhancement Program (QEP) and CQI activities, including those related to patient satisfaction. Actively participates in process improvement activities that enhance the likelihood that patients will achieve the company’s Quality Enhancement Goals (QEP).
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Staff Related:
- Provides safe and effective training and oversight of the delivery of home dialysis therapies to patients in compliance with standards outlined in the facility policy and procedure manuals, as well as regulations set forth by the Corporation, state and federal agencies.
- Rotates with other licensed staff to ensure adequate coverage.
- Participates in staff training and orientation of new staff as assigned.
- Participates in all required staff meetings as scheduled.
Quality:
- Provides outstanding quality of patient care, as defined by company quality goals and standards.
- Submits CQI information to Clinical Manager for completion of HT QAI Template for inclusion in facility CQI packet.
- Participates in all monthly CQI meetings.
Education:
- Assists in the identification and evaluation of candidates for the company Home Therapies Program, including assessment of patients’ home environment.
- Trains home patients and their families/significant others on the safe and effective operation and maintenance (as appropriate), of all home therapies equipment through a formal Home Therapies training program.
- Educates patients and family regarding End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) and the delivery of the company Kidney Options Program.
- Assesses patient and family readiness and ability to perform dialysis treatments at home and patients’ home environment for suitability in the ongoing delivery of home dialysis therapy.
- Provides ongoing education to patients regarding their renal dialysis, peritoneal or vascular access and home dialysis therapy, and other related health conditions.
Dialysis Treatment:
- Provides safe and effective delivery of home therapy support care to patients with ESRD.
- Assesses patients’ response to home dialysis treatment therapy by following predetermined protocols.
- Communicates patient related issues to the physician as needed.
- Reports adverse patient events at home or in the clinic as well as equipment and technology related problems to the Clinical/Home Therapies management and physician including the correct documentation of such events.
- Coordinates the transfer of patients to the hemodialysis clinic when needed and appropriate.
Laboratory Related:
- Reviews, transcribes, and enters physician lab orders accurately into the Medical Information System.
- Follows company policies and government regulations related to the collection, packaging, and delivery of lab specimens and reporting of results.
General Duties:
- Maintains competency with all emergency operational procedures, and initiate CPR and emergency measures in the event of a cardiac and/or respiratory arrest when the patient is in the medical office.
- Administers medications as prescribed including following algorithms (as appropriate), and document appropriate medical justification if indicated and maintain records on controlled substances as required by law.
Maintenance/Technical:
- Maintains appropriate skill level in the operation of all home dialysis therapy-related equipment, including the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems with the patient via telephone.
- Directs patients in the preventative maintenance of home therapies equipment, including water systems and analyses as appropriate.
- Coordinates with the company products division on the delivery, operation and maintenance of all home therapy dialysis equipment.
Medical Records & Documentation:
- Admits all new patients and documents as needed.
- Documents all relevant data including physician orders, lab results, vital signs, and treatment parameters, and patient status and any treatment related data appropriately, and enters into Medical Information System.
- Participates in and ensures all company policies regarding patient admission, transfer, and discharge are appropriately implemented.
- Completes all monthly and annual reporting as required by company policies and government regulations.

11. *Assists with rooming; including vital signs, patient history, preparing patient for examination/procedures, performing EKG, as well as, keeping rooms stocked, clean and ready for use.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from an accredited Registered Nursing Program is required. BSN is preferred. Current licensure as an RN in the State of Nebraska is required. Minimum of one (1) year relevant nursing experience is required. Clinic and cardiovascular nursing experience is preferred.
Licensure as an RN in the State of Kansas is required for nurses traveling to Kansas clinics and in other states where the nurse practices in the clinic, and/or patients, who receive care or instruction by phone, reside.
A driver with a Class A CDL license is a professional who can handle the demands of long-distance driving. This individual is responsible for communicating and coordinating with dispatchers to ensure timely delivery of cargo, while also adhering to applicable traffic laws. The driver must have experience in securing cargo within the vehicle and balancing it correctly to avoid accidents during transit. Furthermore, this driver should maintain a detailed log of their working hours in compliance with state and federal regulations. They should also perform daily maintenance on the truck by refueling, cleaning, and ensuring any mechanical issues are resolved before starting each trip. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Minimum of three (3) years recent clinical experience in area of assigned specialty (Oncology, Orthopedics, other).

Reporting to the Chair of the Department of Medicine and the Cancer Service Line Director, as Associate Medical Director, the Division Head (DH) will provide strategic and operational leadership across all Medical Hematology/Oncology functions—clinical care, education, and research. This includes comprehensive oversight within the Henry Ford Medical Group and across the system's Cancer Service Line. In this role, the DH will play a pivotal part in advancing innovation, quality, and academics, helping to shape and elevate the delivery of cancer care throughout Metro Detroit and beyond.
The dynamic leader who succeeds will be overseeing more than $1 billion of annual GPR ascribed to the division, as well as over 40 full-time academic physicians. Henry Ford Health, a $13 billion academic health system, is in the midst of massive strategic growth plans including a $3 billion Future of Health: Detroit investment anchored by a new hospital facility, a new state-of-the-art research building (335,000 sq. ft.) on the Detroit campus, and academic partnership with Michigan State University, the primary focus of which is cancer, including planned recruitment of additional 35 cancer research faculty positions over the next 5 years. As the senior physician leader for medical oncology, the DH will have substantial input in all academic, clinical and operational decisions related to HFH Cancer enterprise.
The Division Head will be a practicing member of the Hematology/Oncology Division and also an accomplished academician, prepared to further grow our strong research portfolio in key areas such as investigator-initiated clinical trials, precision medicine, and population health. Substantial experience as research leader, capable of mentoring early career investigators and instigating multidisciplinary collaborations, should be considered prerequisite. Robust emotional intelligence will be critical in successfully navigating the multifaceted responsibilities of this prominent leadership position. The DH will be a key leader in HFH+MSU Cancer Center and work closely with the HFH+MSU Cancer Center Director to amplify the clinical research program in cancer. The Division Head is also responsible for advancing the medical education mission and ensuring a robust, innovative fellowship programs and an environment of scholarly inquiry.
The Division Head of Hematology/Oncology overall responsibility includes a vibrant Bone Marrow Transplant Program, infusion program, and cancer care five hospitals and multiple ambulatory sites across southeast and central Michigan. It is expected that the DH will cultivate continued expansion and integration of HemOnc and Infusion services across the entire system in a pluralistic model where appropriate and a fully integrated model when possible. The DH will work closely with Hematologists and Medical Oncologists, Department of Medicine Division Heads, and other Chairs and leaders within Henry Ford Medical Group and Henry Ford Health System to develop and implement best practices for inpatient and outpatient care.
Specific Responsibilities
Academic Leadership
Work within a multidisciplinary framework to guide the production of the highest-quality basic, translational, and clinical research
Lead increasing integration efforts with Michigan State University, including exciting new partnership opportunities arising from the $335 million Research Center opening in 2027
Leadership of the vast academic enterprise.
Lead academic and faculty development activities within the division and HFH Cancer, including via active mentorship of clinician scientists
Clinical Care in Specialty
Provide outstanding clinical care, quality, and service to the patients and referring providers and, by doing so, set an example for faculty in the Division.
Faculty Recruitment Retention and Program Development
Establish the faculty development plan including identification of specific sub-specialty capabilities as may be required for successful program development.
Be a strong and active advocate/champion for innovative thinking and patient centric operational modeling of service offerings.
Oversee an effective recruitment effort for academic faculty.
Proactively work on all aspects of faculty and staff retention
Institute, Departmental, and Divisional Participation/Leadership
Serve a leading role in HFH Cancer operations and strategy cultivation via the Cancer Clinical Council and other significant Committees where the incumbent's expertise can be most effectively utilized.

Provide physician oversight of the clinical operations of Hematology/Oncology services at all ambulatory and inpatient sites consistent with the overall driving strategies of Henry Ford Health Cancer and Henry Ford Medical Group.
Provide face-to-face and written annual evaluation of the Senior Staff performance, personal goals, and professional growth.
Develop an effective partnership with their administrative counterparts reflective of deep respect of the value of physician / administrative dyad relationships.
Strategic Program Development and Planning
Promote multi-disciplinary care and planning across the relevant subspecialties inclusive of identifying opportunities to innovate disease specific clinic operations and perpetuate the model across the system HemOnc and infusion services.
Be a champion for Clinician Scientists within the department and the service line. Support innovative thinking in effort allocation carve-outs to enhance HFH Cancer and HFHS international presence on principal investigator initiated clinical science and translational science.
Build identity of the Henry Ford Cancer Institute and the Hematology/Oncology division.
Collaborate with clinicians throughout the System in the same and related specialties to develop, implement and annually update work plan which addresses patient need, customer expectations, market opportunities, quality of care, cost of care, and the utilization of resources.
Participate in organized planning processes to achieve the goals of the service line in both the short and long term.
Clinical Performance/Quality Improvement/Patient Safety
Enthusiastically support all Quality Improvement initiatives. Support a tone within the Division that Henry Ford will be a leader in Quality and will conduct itself to achieve the highest level of quality attainable.

Qualifications
An M.D. or D.O. degree, BC in ABIM, Hematology/Oncology, and an unrestricted state medical license.
Minimum 4-6 years of experience in a leadership role within an academic institution.
