Position Summary

The Part-time School Food Professional plays a critical role in supporting the daily lunch operations to ensure a safe, orderly, and positive dining experience for students. The Part-time School Food Professional prepares meals, supervises students during meal periods, reinforces school expectations, maintains cleanliness in the cafeteria/pantry, and assists with operational needs related to food service.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Sets-up assigned station with appropriate items before meal service; checks for cleanliness before starting preparation of food.
  • Assembles prepared food on trays for scholars according to menu.
  • Preparing and heating food following DOH protocols.
  • Serves food at proper temperatures utilizing appropriate kitchen equipment.

Job Description

Uncommon Middle School History teachers work in grade level teams and departments to push students towards being self-guided learners. Our teachers develop subject mastery and have a keen sense of the socio-emotional changes middle school students experience. History classes aim to empower students' voices and develop them into global citizens by emphasizing textual analysis, analytical writing, and discourse. Teachers also use engaging instructional strategies to make history come alive! At the conclusion of eighth grade, students are prepared for the academic autonomy and college preparatory focus of our high schools.

Responsibilities

1.     Instruction

  • You'll facilitate student-led discourse of historical topics, where students grapple with open-ended guiding questions, engage in peer-to-peer debate, and synthesize arguments.
  • You'll guide students to understand the author's claim and the power of sourcing while developing the skills of argumentation, corroboration, inquiry, and historiography through primary and secondary source analysis.

Uncommon Middle School English Language Arts (ELA) teachers are passionate about literature and building an engaging classroom culture. Job Description

Uncommon Middle School Math teachers work in grade level teams to help students grow towards being self-guided learners. At the heart of all math classes is a deep joy for mathematics, and our teachers work hard to refine their own mastery of the subject. Math teachers use a variety of instructional strategies to cultivate the skills and the mindset required to persevere and solve problems. At the conclusion of eighth grade, students are prepared for the academic autonomy and college preparatory focus of our high schools.

Responsibilities

1.     Instruction

  • You'll teach foundational middle school math principles such as ratio/proportions, expressions/equations, the number system, and more!
  • You’ll use our in-house CCSS-based Math curriculum and culturally responsive problem-solving activities.
  • You'll motivate students to grapple with problems and think critically about all the different possible paths to solving them.
  • You'll use your love of mathematics to foster confidence and meaningful engagement with the subject for students.

2.     Data Analysis

  • You'll meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments.

Teacher certification is not a prerequisite for consideration at Uncommon Schools in the state of NJ, but you do need to meet NJ state certification eligibility requirements (a final undergraduate or graduate cumulative GPA of 3.0 for graduates on or after 9/1/16, or 2.75 if you graduated prior to 9/1/16). All instructional staff are required to become certified in the state of New Jersey within a reasonable period after beginning employment.

Compensation

Compensation for this role is between $56,000 to $80,000.

Starting pay is determined using various factors including but not limited to relevant full-time teaching experience, education certifications, and tenure with Uncommon Schools. Candidates without full-time Teaching experience will likely have a starting salary of $56,000.

We’re partnering with a school district in Middlesex County, MA to hire a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to support a medically fragile student.


Position Details:

Location: In-person, Middlesex, MA.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, up to 35 hours per week.

Duration: Remainder of the school year.


Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one nursing care for a high school aged medically complex student during school hours.
  • Manage and monitor seizure activity and respond appropriately per care plan.
  • Perform tracheostomy care and suctioning as needed.
  • Administer nutrition and medications via G-J tube.
  • Safely lift, transfer, and reposition the student using a Hoyer lift.
  • Ride school transportation with the student from and to school.
  • Remain with the student throughout the school day to ensure medical safety and support participation in school activities.
  • Monitor vital signs and overall health status; document care provided.
  • Communicate effectively with family, school staff, and care team.
  • Follow physician orders, care plans, and school/agency protocols.


Qualifications:

  • Current, active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Experience caring for medically complex pediatric or young adult patients preferred.
  • Demonstrated competency in seizure management, tracheostomy care, and G-J tube feeding/medication administration.
  • Ability to safely lift, transfer, and reposition the student using a Hoyer lift.
  • Comfortable riding school transportation and providing care during transit.
  • Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with family, school staff, and healthcare providers.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Must pass background checks and meet school/agency compliance requirements.
