Senior Full-Stack AI & Data Engineer – Contract

We are seeking a Senior Full-Stack AI & Data Engineer to join our growing Data & AI practice, supporting a high-impact client. In this role, you will lead the design and development of end-to-end AI-powered applications that drive personalization, predictive analytics, and next-generation digital experiences.

You’ll partner with business stakeholders, product teams, and engineers to build production-grade AI solutions—from data pipelines and model development to APIs and user-facing applications. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise across the full stack, modern data platforms, and generative AI technologies, with a passion for solving complex business challenges through innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop end-to-end AI-powered applications, including backend APIs and user-facing interfaces, to enable scalable and intuitive AI solutions.
• Build and maintain robust APIs using technologies such as Node.js, NestJS, or FastAPI, and develop modern web applications using React or similar frameworks.
• Develop, fine-tune, and deploy machine learning models using frameworks such as PyTorch and Scikit-learn.
• Implement advanced generative AI solutions, including Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and multi-modal AI applications.
• Design and build agentic AI systems using frameworks such as LangChain, enabling multi-step reasoning, tool use, and automation.
• Architect and optimize end-to-end data pipelines (ETL/ELT) using Python, SQL, and orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Manage and integrate data workflows within Snowflake, leveraging technologies such as Snowpark or Cortex.
• Implement monitoring and observability for AI systems, including tracking model performance, drift, latency, and reliability.
• Design and deploy cloud-native solutions using Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate data into actionable insights and intelligent applications.
• Contribute to DevOps best practices, including infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and automated testing.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in AI ethics, data governance, and code quality.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of experience across full-stack development, including backend (Node.js/Python) and frontend frameworks (React or similar).
• Strong experience designing and building data pipelines and modern data platforms, including expertise in SQL and data modeling.
• Proven experience deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments, including MLOps and model lifecycle management.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI technologies, including LLMs, prompt engineering, and RAG architectures.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform).
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in client-facing environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Snowflake, including Snowpark, Cortex, or similar data platform capabilities.
• Experience building agent-based AI systems or working with frameworks such as LangChain.
• Familiarity with vector databases and semantic search architectures.
• Experience developing mobile applications using React Native or Flutter.

The Role

As a Founding Engineer at Straia, you'll work directly with a small team including directly with our CEO (Ryan), CTO (Alan) and CPO (Nikki) to design, build, and scale the core infrastructure of our platform.

What You'll Do

• Build the core platform — architect and implement services spanning data ingestion, query orchestration, and agentic AI workflows

Summary

The Director of Cyber Security is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive information security strategy that safeguards the organization’s digital assets, systems, and data. This role oversees all aspects of cybersecurity operations, ensuring alignment with business objectives while maintaining regulatory compliance and operational resilience.

The Director leads a multidisciplinary team—including managers, project managers, architects, analysts, engineers, and third-party providers—and collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders to embed security into enterprise initiatives, including digital transformation and cloud adoption. Effective communication with both technical and non-technical audiences is essential.

Key challenges include staying ahead of rapidly evolving cyber threats and regulations, balancing security with business agility, managing limited resources, and fostering a culture of security awareness and engagement. The Director is expected to remain current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices through ongoing learning and professional involvement. Success in this role is measured by:

Essential Functions

The principal duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

• Strategic Leadership: Demonstrates hands-on leadership by working closely with both team members and cross-functional business units to drive alignment and deliver results. Develop and implement a comprehensive information security strategy aligned with organizational goals and regulatory requirements. Regularly review and refine the security roadmap to address emerging threats and technological advancements.
• Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate cyber risks across all business units and functions. Conduct security risk assessments, oversee vulnerability management, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, guidelines, and best practices.
• Policy and Governance: Create, update, and enforce security policies, standards, and procedures. Establish security governance frameworks and ensure organization-wide adoption and awareness.
• Incident Response: Lead the organization’s response to cyber security incidents and breaches. Develop and maintain incident response plans, coordinate cross-functional teams during incidents, and oversee post-incident analysis and reporting.
• Security Operations: Supervise daily security operations, including monitoring, threat intelligence, and log analysis. Implement technical controls such as firewalls, encryption, intrusion detection systems, and endpoint protection.
• Talent Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing cyber security team. Foster professional development, provide training opportunities, and determine staffing requirements (both internal and external) to ensure defined objectives are met. Manage performance evaluations and salary administration for direct and indirect reports. Guide the professional and personal development of associates, including certifications and/or degrees as required by the role.
• Budget and Resource Management: Oversee the cyber security budget, ensuring resources are allocated efficiently to maximize risk reduction. Evaluate investments in technology, services, and personnel. Administer departmental operating and capital budgets.
• Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary liaison between executive leadership and the cyber security function. Deliver clear, concise reports and recommendations to leadership, regulators, and the board of directors.
• Vendor and Third-Party Security: Evaluate and manage security risks associated with vendors, partners, and supply chain entities. Lead third-party risk assessments and integrate findings into the broader risk management strategy.
• Vendor and Third Parties: Evaluate and manage vendors, partners, and third-party managed service providers.
• Awareness and Training: Develop and deliver organization-wide security awareness programs. Promote a culture of security by educating staff at all levels on their role in protecting information assets. Ensure completion of required company compliance training programs. Communicate and promote the code of ethics and business conduct. Direct project presentations for recommendations and updates to staff, management, Committees, and Membership. Include associates, when possible, to provide exposure and encourage them to build relationships with management and membership.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Security, Information Technology, or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Certifications: CISSP, CISM, CISA, or equivalent industry-recognized certifications.
• Experience: 10+ years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 3 years in management or leadership role.
• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of security architecture, networks, applications, cloud computing, and endpoint security. Familiarity with current threat landscapes, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies. Information/Data Protection & Identity and Access Management
• Regulatory Knowledge: Experience with data privacy laws and security frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, SOX, ISO 27001, NIST, and PCI-DSS.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $180,000-$220,000 annually.

Placement in the range depends on several factors, including experience, skills, education, geography, and budget considerations. What you will do in this role:

• Direct project(s) including project design and schedule to meet development of short and long-term objectives and recommends goals to management.

What you will bring to the role:

Job Summary:

An exciting opportunity exists for a Sr. Principal RF Module Design/Development Engineer to join our Module Development Section with the Advanced Microelectronics Solutions (AMS) Department as a technical lead. The AMS department designs, fabricates, and tests state-of-the-art Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuits (MMICs) in our on-site foundry. These chips are designed into custom modules to support multiple programs and enhance the capabilities of next generation radar systems.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the technical design and development of RF/microwave modules containing GaAs- and GaN-based monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) products. This would be in active support of existing technologies in production as well as next generation products in development. This position requires a strong academic background and experience in RF/Microwave Design, Development, Integration & Test.

What You Will Do:

• Designing RF structures and transitions on multi-layer, multi-channel RF Modules and analog circuitry enabling both receive and transmit behavior

• Consulting across RF module design, MMIC design and assembly teams

• Troubleshooting RF Modules that are prototyped and under development

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Field and Ten (10) or more years of relevant experience (An advanced STEM degree could count for 3 years of experience) with Microwave/RF module, subsystem and component analysis, design, and test

• The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Prefer:

• A Master’s degree or PhD. in a Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) Field 

• Experience leading teams and/or projects

• Experience in module/sub-system assembly & packaging process

• Experience in thermal modeling and analysis.

• Experience of different topology trade-offs, process and active/passive component selection, system/sub-system level, gain-loss analysis and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level

• Hands-on experience with electromagnetic simulation tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST.

• Layout experience in Mentor Graphics’ Xpedition, Cadence Virtuoso or AutoCAD

• Experience with analytical tools such as Matlab, Python, or JMP

• Experience in cost estimating, budget and schedule management

• Understanding of allocating and flowing down requirements from the system to the component level

• Experience in a production environment

• Experience with microwave testing techniques, including using spectrum analyzers, Real-time Spectrum Analyzers (RSAs), Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs) and Performance Network Analyzer (PNAs)

• Experience with GaAs and/or GaN MMIC devices       

• Current DoD Secret level security clearance
